A whirlwind trip to Macau: 2 days, 2 nights
Originally, our travel plans were set for Japan. However, due to financial constraints at the time, we opted for Macau instead. Macau is one hour ahead of Thailand, and we boarded our flight in the evening, arriving there just after 9:30 PM. As soon as we stepped off the plane, we were greeted by a light drizzle and strong gusts of wind that sent shivers down our spines. We quickly made our way through passport control and hailed a taxi to our pre-booked hotel.
After checking in at the Western Sun Sun https://www.booking.com/hotel/mo/best-western-sun-sun.th.html and settling into our room, hunger pangs began to set in. We wasted no time and set out to explore the nearby area. Soon, we spotted our target in the distance and made a beeline for it. It was a small noodle shop with about 5-6 tables. Luckily, there was one table left for us. As soon as the waiter brought us the menu, we immediately ordered a bowl of noodles.
After a delicious bowl of noodles that warmed both my stomach and my body, it's time to return to my room for a good night's sleep. I need to rest and recharge for tomorrow. Good night...Zzz
Waking up to a beautiful morning, I gazed out the bedroom window, where the gentle morning sunlight illuminated the sea, dotted with anchored boats. Eager to explore, I quickly showered and dressed, ready to embark on my adventure.
The weather in Macau is pleasantly cool, with temperatures ranging from 15 to 16 degrees Celsius. On weekend mornings, residents can be seen briskly walking out of their apartments or houses, heading to the nearby parks for exercise. Families often participate in these morning routines, with grandparents accompanying their grandchildren for walks or jogs. As we explored the city, we were impressed by its remarkable cleanliness. Even in narrow alleys and on older streets, there was no trace of litter.
We arrived at Senado Square, which was still quiet in the early morning, a stark contrast to the bustling crowds that fill the square at night. After taking a few photos, we continued on our way.
Walking straight ahead, we arrived at the Grand Lisboa, another bustling casino. However, as it was still early in the morning, there were not many people around. Upon reaching this point, we decided to hail a taxi to take us to A-Ma Temple.
The vast majority of people here, nearly 90%, do not speak English. They primarily communicate in their native Chinese dialect. If you require assistance navigating, it is recommended to utilize Google to locate relevant information and images, which you can then present to them. Their affirmative response indicates comprehension.
We used this method throughout the trip.
After exploring and paying respects at A Ma Temple, we wasted no time in visiting several other tourist spots. We relied on the same taxi driver as before, showing him pictures of the places we wanted to go.

After a tiring morning of exploring, we returned to the hotel for a quick nap to recharge for the evening. Stay tuned to find out where we'll be taking you next! In the meantime, we'll be resting our weary feet.
The Venetian Macao is a must-visit destination in Macau. It is a large casino and shopping complex with a replica of Venice, complete with gondolas and singing gondoliers. Tickets for a gondola ride are available for purchase, but the prices are quite high.
At The Venetian, there are interconnected walkways between all buildings, including a path leading to the Eiffel Tower. Out of curiosity, we followed the directional arrows and arrived at the entrance, where numerous souvenir shops lined the path. Upon reaching the ticket booth, we were startled by the price, realizing that our budget might not suffice for a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Consequently, we retreated and could only capture a photograph as we passed by in a vehicle.
After leaving the Venetian, we took a taxi to Senado Square around 8:00 PM. The square was bustling with people, a stark contrast to the quiet morning scene. Most of the visitors were tourists, either on group tours or shopping for souvenirs before their departure.
After navigating through the bustling crowd, we stumbled upon Dominic's Church, a magnificent edifice adorned in vibrant yellow. The church's popularity was evident as numerous individuals posed for photographs against its backdrop. We joined the throng, capturing our own images to stay abreast of the trend, before venturing inside. The interior was characterized by its spaciousness and ample seating.
After admiring the beauty of the chapel and taking some photos, we decided to head back to our accommodation to rest up for the next day. Our first day of exploring had left us quite exhausted.
Sunday morning, the usual morning routine: a quick shower, getting dressed, and most importantly, packing clothes into a suitcase to check out all at once. After checking out, we left our luggage at the counter to continue exploring comfortably for the rest of the day before heading to the airport in the late afternoon.
After a quick search on Google Maps, we found our destination: Macau Fisherman's Wharf. A short 200-meter walk from our hotel led us to the main road, where we hailed a taxi. Showing the driver a picture, we arrived at Macau Fisherman's Wharf within 20 minutes. The initial glimpse into the wharf was breathtaking. The atmosphere evoked a sense of old-world Western charm, influenced by European architecture. A miniature Colosseum stood out as a particularly impressive sight.
After exploring the scenic Macau Fisherman's Wharf, we took a taxi back to our hotel and then walked to the Ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral to find souvenirs. The must-try local delicacies are undoubtedly egg tarts and pork jerky, which are extremely popular and widely available at almost every shop. We strolled around, savoring the delicious treats and picking up some souvenirs to bring back home.
On our way back to the hotel, we took a shortcut through the alleys and came across an ice cream shop. The ice cream looked delicious, so we stopped by and tried it. It was amazing, just as good as it looked.
With souvenirs in hand and a satisfied stomach, it was time to head home. Counting the remaining coins in my pocket, I nervously calculated the taxi fare to the airport. Relief washed over me as I realized I had just enough, arriving safely with two Hong Kong dollars to spare.
The estimated average cost per person is 10,000 baht.
Round-trip airfare costs 4,xxx baht per person.
Accommodation for 2 nights is 2,000 baht per person (excluding breakfast, as it is cheaper to find food that suits your taste).
Estimated cost for food, travel, shopping, and souvenirs: 4,xxx baht per person.
The event concluded beautifully. We arrived back in Thailand with great joy around 10:30 PM local time. We went straight to sleep to prepare for the work that awaits us tomorrow.
