Let's take a look and see how delicious, luxurious, and impressive it is.
Ronnefeldt, a long-standing tea brand from Germany, was established in 1823, predating the widespread popularity of tea in India and Sri Lanka.
Ronnefeldt is renowned for its meticulous selection of premium teas from renowned tea-growing regions worldwide, including India, Sri Lanka, China, Taiwan, and Japan. Through its expert blending techniques, Ronnefeldt enhances the flavor and aroma of its teas, captivating tea enthusiasts globally for nearly two centuries.
This is the brand's first and only Tea Lounge, and the number 1823 is used as the shop name in a cool, luxurious, and expensive way, emphasizing its long history.
Offering a diverse selection of teas, including green, white, black, oolong, herbal, and fruit-flavored varieties, catering to Asian preferences, with over 70 flavors to choose from.
While a wide variety of teas are available, the quality of the tea is paramount. Therefore, it is normal for some teas to be unavailable, as the quality may not meet the standards during that period. The shop will provide tea canisters for customers to smell until they find a satisfactory aroma.
The signature dish of the restaurant, a must-try for everyone.
"1823 Gold Indulgence" Afternoon tea set - 1,370 Baht. This set includes a choice of two types of tea, one for each person, from a selection of available teas.
Chou crab resembles an éclair, generously filled with crab meat and adorned with caviar. The combination of fresh crab meat and caviar creates an aromatic and flavorful experience. The crab meat is incredibly fresh and flavorful.
Salmon sandwich, a visually appealing dish, features smoked salmon with a delightful smoky and salty flavor, rolled and topped with a dollop of cream for a touch of tanginess. Salmon roe, with its large, translucent pearls, and caviar add a burst of umami and richness. The combination of these distinct and intense flavors creates a harmonious symphony on the palate. A sip of tea completes the experience, leaving a lingering sense of satisfaction.
Egg Sandwich This seemingly ordinary egg sandwich is anything but. The egg filling is infused with the earthy aroma of truffle mushrooms, creating a luxuriously smooth and velvety texture. The black powder sprinkled on top also carries the distinct truffle scent, releasing a burst of fragrant intensity with every bite.
Scone If you're a scone enthusiast, you must try this one. Even I, who am usually indifferent to scones, was completely won over by this one. It's a freshly made scone, and it's even better when it's slightly warm. The dough is dense and crumbly, and it comes in two flavors: plain and raisin. It's served with sweet and tart strawberry jam, or you can pair it with clotted cream from England, which adds a rich and creamy flavor that complements the scone perfectly. It's best enjoyed with a hot cup of tea.
Yusu, Lychee Macaron This menu item is a delightful surprise, unlike anything found in typical shops. Both flavors boast a hidden surprise: small jelly pieces nestled within the filling, adding a burst of freshness and awakening the senses on this relaxing day.
Black Forest: A German dessert featuring a rich and decadent combination of chocolate and vanilla mousse, infused with subtle hints of liquor. The cake is adorned with sweet cherries and crunchy chocolate shavings, creating a delightful textural contrast.
Carrot cake features a dense, fine texture and a fragrant aroma. It is topped with a tangy and creamy orange cream cheese frosting.
Today, we will be selecting from the Exclusive Blend category, which is available exclusively at 1823 Tea Lounge.
Bangkok Blend - 310 Baht is an oolong tea blended with pineapple and papaya, resulting in a harmonious and fragrant aroma.
Gaysorn Blend - 310 Baht is based on Pai Mu Tan white tea from Fujian, blended with ripe mango and citrus.
Personally, I prefer the smoothness of the Gaysorn Blend.
While the Afternoon Tea Set is certainly enough to satisfy, we couldn't resist trying some of the savory dishes as well. After all, we had heard that the restaurant's reputation for exceptional tea and Afternoon Tea was matched by its equally impressive savory offerings.
1823 Roasted Chicken Tea Rice
This dish, priced at 390 Baht, presents a vibrant and healthy option. The tender, flavorful roasted chicken is served with rice infused with three types of tea and drizzled with a delicate Da hong pao tea-infused gravy. The light and aromatic flavors create a truly delightful and wholesome experience.
1823 Matcha Carbonara with Truffle Oil (390 Baht)
This dish replaces traditional spaghetti with green tea soba noodles. The sauce is made with cheese and infused with truffle oil for an aromatic touch. A perfectly cooked onsen egg tops it off. While I personally prefer a firmer noodle texture, the green tea soba was slightly softer than I would have liked. Before digging in, be sure to mix everything together thoroughly. The result is a rich and creamy flavor, perfectly complemented by the earthy aroma of truffle oil and the luxurious richness of cheese and egg yolk.
Ronnnefeldt Number 1 is a refreshing tea mocktail that will enhance your dining experience. It is made with a blend of Bangkok tea, grape juice, apple juice, and lemon juice, creating a sweet and sour flavor.
Topped with sweet and sour mango, the dish instantly becomes fresh and flavorful!
Summary of Impressions
This meal impressed me with the taste and meticulousness of each creative menu. The Afternoon Tea Set, with its cute portions and attention to detail, made every bite delicious and perfect when paired with signature teas like Bangkok Blend or Gaysorn Blend. Even the savory dishes were beautifully designed and decorated, leaving a lasting impression on every plate. It was a special moment for me on a relaxing day, indulging in fragrant tea and delicious food. I highly recommend 1823 Tea Lounge by Ronnefeldt.
