Let's go to the Jedkod-Pongkonsao Nature Study and Ecotourism Center.
Departure date July 28-29, 2017.
The journey from Bangkok to here is about 130 kilometers.
Good morning! Starting a new day with the creativity of nature. We left Bangkok and arrived here around 9 am. What did we do when we arrived? At first, we were amazed and walked around the park to take pictures to relieve our fatigue from the journey. Actually, we felt refreshed as soon as we opened the car door and saw the green color of the forest here. It's been a long time since we've been able to experience nature this closely. It's really refreshing. Anyway, let's start our hike. At the Chet Khot-Pong Koan Sao Nature Education and Ecotourism Center, there are 3 nature study trails:
1. Hike to the upper part of the seven-tiered waterfall, covering a round-trip distance of 1.5 kilometers and taking approximately 1 hour.
2. Hike to the Seven Cascades (Upper, Middle, and Lower) (middle loop), covering a distance of 3 kilometers and taking approximately 2.5 hours.
3. Hike to the Seven Cascades (North-Middle-South) (Large Loop) - 4 hours.
Please note that options 2 and 3 are no longer available. According to the park officials, there are no longer any guides available to lead hikes on the Middle and Large Loops. We were disappointed as we had planned to hike the Large Loop. However, we decided to hike the first trail instead. "Let's go to the North Seven Cascades!"
Following the signs, we began our trek towards the ridge of the dam, known locally as the "Sap Pa Wan Reservoir".
The weather today is perfect for a leisurely stroll. The sun is hidden, and the air is cool. As I walk along the ridge of the dam, I can't help but admire the beautiful scenery. The reflection of the tents on the water's surface is a sight to behold.
After enjoying the view, I continue my walk along the ridge. Soon, I will reach the entrance to the forest.
At the end of the ridge walk, you will find a sign indicating the cycling path. This is another activity that you can do here, but unfortunately, you will be disappointed again. According to the park officials, bicycle rentals are no longer available. If you want to cycle, you will need to bring your own bike.
But don't worry, don't be sad. Let's listen to the sound of the waterfall telling us, "Shhh."
Heading towards the seven bends in the north. Now we're really entering the forest.
Looking up to see this kind of green color, it's so refreshing.
Take a break and capture the beauty of nature's creations.
As I walked, I took pictures of everything, with the goal of finding the elusive champignon mushroom.
When will I finally meet you, champignon? Please show yourself!
As I walked, I asked the group on the trip, "Please help me find little champignon!"
At first, we didn't find any baby champagne, but when we went deeper, we actually found some.
So cute, this is what I'm looking for.
The Beautiful Woman of the Seven Bends
Amidst our walk, we couldn't resist capturing photos of the charming "น้องแชมเปญ" along the way, making the journey a delightful experience that erased all traces of fatigue.
The trail was a bit slippery, probably due to the rain last night. There were also some puddles of water in some sections, adding to the adventure of the hike. The fun part is the challenge, right?
The journey was filled with excitement for us and the gang.
Everyone was excited about everything around them all the way. There was always something to stop and take pictures of along the way. This is the nature, so beautiful that no one complained of being tired.
And here's another creature that we've stopped being excited about.
Hello, little conch shell, oh, snail, oh, that's right! Bang!
Let me take a picture, I promise to take it lightly and not bother you at all.
The snail was photographed moving back and forth, and then it looked up to see another little Spiderman.
As we ventured deeper into the forest, the sound of a waterfall grew louder, signaling our approaching destination: the "Seven Cascades of the North."
Navigating to the "Seven Cascades of the North" is a straightforward journey, with clear signage guiding the way. However, it's advisable to bring mosquito repellent, as the area is prone to mosquitoes. The trail itself is relatively easy to navigate, but watch out for slippery patches and thorny bamboo shoots.
After a 1.5-hour hike (which took longer than expected due to frequent photo stops), we finally reached our destination: the magnificent "Noen Nangphaya Waterfall". The cool, refreshing air instantly enveloped us, bringing a sense of tranquility and joy. We couldn't help but pause and immerse ourselves in the beauty of nature.
The Seven Cascades Waterfall originates from the Seven Cascades Stream. The first cascade, the Upper Seven Cascades Waterfall, is located approximately 1.2 kilometers from the Sap Pa Wan Reservoir. Further south, the Middle Seven Cascades Waterfall, the Lower Seven Cascades Waterfall, and the Great Seven Cascades Waterfall can be found. On this occasion, we only reached the Upper Seven Cascades Waterfall. To access the Middle, Lower, or Great Seven Cascades Waterfalls, visitors must be accompanied by a park ranger. However, as previously mentioned, the park is currently not offering guided tours. While this is disappointing, the experience at the Upper Seven Cascades Waterfall was still incredibly enjoyable.
After capturing the cascading waterfall with a flurry of shutter clicks, our attention shifted to the mesmerizing butterflies fluttering around us. The sheer abundance of these delicate creatures was astounding, and to our delight, they remained unfazed by our presence. We basked in the cool breeze, admiring the cascading water and the captivating dance of the butterflies, before retracing our steps back to camp.
It's time to walk back to the base camp, Sap Pa Pa Wan Reservoir, another 1 kilometer.
Let's go!
The return trip was quick due to our hunger, so we didn't stop to take pictures like we did on the way there. When we reached the crest of the dam, we checked our watches and it was exactly noon. There was no sun at all today because the rain was about to come. Please don't rain yet, let me set up my tent first.
Looking around the reservoir, many people have already started pitching their tents.
Whose tent is so cute?
After satisfying our hunger with a delicious meal, we set out to find the perfect spot to pitch our tent and settle in for the night.
"Let's set up camp here," we declared, pointing to a breathtaking vista.
Note: The original text uses informal language and colloquialisms. The translation aims to convey the same meaning in a more formal and academic style, while maintaining the original tone of excitement and anticipation.
If you prefer not to camp in a tent, there are also bungalows available for rent. These come in various sizes, catering to both small and large groups. For inquiries and pricing, please contact the following numbers: 08 9237 8659, 08 5968 3520, and 08 0019 2762. However, please note that the convenience store is currently closed. According to park officials, it has ceased operations. Therefore, if you plan to camp here, you will need to bring your own food and cooking supplies. Alternatively, there are restaurants located near the park entrance, a short drive away.
After setting up the tent, we took a walk to breathe in the fresh air and soak up the atmosphere around the campsite and nearby houses. It was a way to recharge our batteries before heading back the next day.
This place is teeming with rabbits. Wherever you go, you'll encounter these adorable creatures frolicking and playing. Their fur is incredibly soft.
The next day, before leaving, we made a stop at the "Mo Kher Viewpoint." This vantage point offers stunning views of the Khao Yai mountain range to the east and the Kaeng Khoi district to the west. On a clear day, the vista stretches as far as the eye can see. The drive to the viewpoint is short, but the road is riddled with deep potholes, requiring careful navigation.
The Mo Kheru Viewpoint is located approximately 1.8 kilometers from the Tourist Service Center. While the view from this location is indeed beautiful, the presence of trees somewhat obstructs the clarity of the vista.
Thank you all for watching. "Sap Takarn-Pong Kon Sao" is located near Bangkok. Come and experience the atmosphere and nature here.
