LUZ HOSTEL

Image

The day before, my daughter had a photoshoot at 6 am near Plernjit. Since we live in the suburbs, we would have to wake up at 3 am to make it on time. Without hesitation, I searched Google for hotels in Bangkok. I wanted to wake up and walk to work in a beautiful and relaxed way. I found a few hotels for less than 500 baht. In the end, I chose this one because they provided free towels, so I didn't have to bring my own.

Get off at BTS Phloen Chit and walk into Sukhumvit Soi 1. It can be a bit deserted at night as there are no shops or cafes in the soi. If you are alone, it is recommended to take a motorbike taxi for safety.

Just past the 7-Eleven, look for a small, cute sign on the right-hand side. Turn in and you'll find the hotel. The interior is decorated in a light loft style, creating a relaxed and spacious atmosphere.

Check-in Amenities (Apologies for the missing photos)

1. Keycard for accessing the hotel and our room.

2. Our personal locker keys

3. Slippers to change into before going upstairs to the bedroom.

4. A large bath towel !!!! I'm most excited about this because

Most budget hotels do not provide these amenities, so you will need to rent them separately. This can be inconvenient for people who are lazy to carry these items.

This accommodation does not include breakfast. If you want to eat, you can order separately, which is fair for those who do not want breakfast like us, because we have to go out early to eat rice in a pile, free.

Free drinking water is available. You can bring a bottle to fill up and drink in your room. They are not stingy.

This space promotes tourism in Thailand by providing maps, brochures, and a photogenic seating area decorated in a loft-style with a touch of Japanese influence, perfect for capturing Instagram-worthy shots. It also offers a selection of minimalist Thai-style clothing for purchase, ideal for those who might get their clothes wet during Songkran festivities. Additionally, bicycles are available for borrowing to conveniently reach nearby convenience stores. The Wi-Fi connection is strong, and iMac computers are provided free of charge for researching tourist destinations.

The mezzanine level features a common area where guests can relax, socialize, enjoy snacks, and watch TV. As all bedrooms are shared, it is recommended to keep noise levels low in the rooms to avoid disturbing other guests. The common area and the area in front of the rooms are ideal for conversations and socializing.

(The image below is borrowed from Google. At that time, there were tourists sitting and studying Thai. I was too embarrassed to take a picture.)

The kitchen is on the second floor. You can leave your things in the refrigerator. They even have magic markers for you to write your name on, which is cute.
I put bananas and milk in there, but I forgot to take them out this morning. They must be rotten in the fridge by now.

The next floor is the bedroom. There is a small hallway separating the bedroom from the bathroom.

The bathroom and toilet are separate, with high-quality shampoo and soap provided. The scent is pleasant and leaves you feeling clean. As someone who enjoys hot showers, the water heater here is incredibly fast, which is fantastic.

Upon arriving at the accommodation, I realized that I am not particularly fond of capsule-style sleeping arrangements due to my discomfort in confined spaces. Therefore, I opted for a bunk bed in a shared female dormitory. The spacious lockers provided ample storage for my belongings. Each bed was equipped with a personal light, shelf, and electrical outlet, offering a convenient and self-contained sleeping experience. It is important to note that if privacy is a priority, capsule-style accommodations might be a more suitable option, as the shared dormitory lacks curtains to separate the beds.

Everyone is asleep in the room, so I could only take this picture. If you want to see the atmosphere of the room in the morning, you can check out the hotel's fan page. The pictures are not fake, of course.

SWINE ASSESSMENT

5/5 Staff

Friendly and helpful service, willing to answer any questions, reliable.

Cleanliness 5/5

Fortunately, I haven't encountered any unclean areas yet.

Amenities 5/5

Excellent service, highly recommended. The complimentary towels were a delightful bonus.

Room comfort 4/5

Points deducted for the very cold air conditioning, possibly due to the bed being directly under the AC unit.
In the shared room, when turning on the bedside lamp, one must be mindful of other beds if they are already asleep, as the light is very bright and there are no curtains to block it. Overall, the bed is comfortable, and the sheets and blankets are clean and soft.

Location and Transportation 4/5

The narrow alleyway may be a slight inconvenience, but it is not a problem during the day. Overall, the location is very convenient.

Value for money 5/5

This centrally located accommodation offers excellent value for money considering the amenities provided. The mixed-gender dormitory rooms are particularly affordable, especially when booked with a promotion.

Note: The next morning, I still had to run to work. The closer it got, the farther it seemed. I wasted time fussing over my makeup, putting on lipstick, and drawing my eyebrows. Oh, I still had the nerve to draw my eyebrows. It's already six o'clock! Run!
