Nestled in the heart of Siam Square, Grassroom offers a lush green oasis amidst the bustling city. Located in Siam Square Soi 2, this restaurant provides a refreshing escape from the urban jungle.
While strolling around, I was overwhelmed by the abundance of restaurants, making it difficult to choose where to eat. As I continued my search, I noticed a sign for "Grassroom" on the second floor of a building. Initially, I assumed it was a store selling home decor or something similar. However, upon looking down, I saw a sign indicating it was a restaurant, so I decided to investigate further. To my surprise, it turned out to be a restaurant.
Upon closer inspection, I realized the menu board did not belong to Grassroom. Curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to go upstairs. The restaurant I discovered had a refreshingly cool atmosphere. Peering through the glass, I saw that the interior was dominated by the color green, both in the decor and the abundance of plants.
The atmosphere on the lower floor and the way up to the second floor
The atmosphere from the front of the shop, as mentioned earlier, is full of greenery just from looking at the front of the shop.
The ambiance of the restaurant is lush and verdant throughout, with meticulously chosen plants and furniture that evoke a sense of tranquility and rejuvenation. The carefully curated greenery and natural materials effectively transport patrons from the bustling city heat to a serene oasis. Stepping onto the second floor instantly transforms the atmosphere, offering a welcome respite from the urban clamor.
This corner is a special spot in the shop, where people often come to take photos. It serves as a backdrop for photography.
After seeing the restaurant's atmosphere, let's take a look at the food menu. This is the actual food menu, haha. It looks like this.
The menu was filled with enticing dishes, each with a name that sparked curiosity about its ingredients and preparation. While we pondered our choices, we decided to order drinks first. After browsing the menu, we opted for the intriguing "Lime, Lemon, Coconut, Pomelo" drink. The name alone piqued our interest. The beverage, served with a stylish rim of roasted coconut, delivered a distinctly Thai flavor with an international flair. We were so captivated by the harmonious and refreshing taste that we forgot to take a picture before indulging in it.
After savoring the refreshing drink, we asked the restaurant to recommend their signature dishes. They suggested 4-5 options, but fearing we wouldn't be able to finish them all, we settled on just 3. The first dish was a delightful sweet and refreshing treat:
Watermelon salad with dried fish and feta cheese. The sweetness of the watermelon, combined with the creaminess of the feta cheese, was perfectly balanced by the savory notes of the dried fish. The combination of flavors was surprisingly harmonious, creating a truly unique and enjoyable experience.
The next menu item is a bit heavier, featuring grilled purple cabbage salad with grilled chicken. The dish offers a satisfying portion of grilled chicken thigh accompanied by bite-sized pieces of grilled cabbage. The highlight, however, is the dipping sauce nestled within the shallots. The sauce boasts a well-balanced flavor profile. In the end, I couldn't resist pouring the entire sauce over the dish and devouring it all in one go. 5555
The next menu item was a real showstopper. At first, I thought it was just a regular pork burger, but the staff assured me it was a special recipe. I trusted them and ordered it, and I'm glad I did.
The minced pork and salted fish burger, served with homemade fries, was truly exceptional. Not only did it come with the usual dip, but it also had a side of chili fish sauce. I ended up dipping the fries in the dip and drizzling the chili fish sauce on the burger. It was an unexpected but delicious combination. This is a must-try menu item that's worth every penny.
After indulging in three savory dishes, it's time for a sweet ending. No matter how full you are, there's always room for dessert.
Today's recommended menu is the Winter Butterfly, a traditional coconut ice cream served with young coconut cake and sprinkled with roasted coconut. The dish offers a truly authentic coconut flavor. When enjoying the ice cream, roll it on the plate to coat it with the roasted coconut, adding another layer of flavor.
In terms of value for money, Grassroom delivers. With an average price range of 100-300 baht per dish, diners can enjoy unique and innovative flavors presented in an aesthetically pleasing manner. While the menu boasts a variety of enticing options, the lack of descriptions makes it difficult to visualize the dishes. This led me to rely on the staff's recommendations, resulting in a satisfying culinary experience.
