After fully exploring Leh Ladakh, we will embark on a three-day road trip to Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake, where we will experience the breathtaking beauty of these remote destinations.

This multi-day trip requires a full day of driving to reach the destination. Be prepared for a long journey, bring good company, pack sunscreen and a neck pillow, load up on awesome playlists and power banks, and hit the road!

Nubra Valley, here I come!

Wait a moment, little Uth. I'm on my way to you!

Dawn in Leh

We woke up at 7:00 am and were the first to rise. We wanted to take a shower, but the water was very cold, and there was no hot water heater upstairs. We asked the host if there was hot water available, suggesting that we could shower downstairs if there was a hot water heater there. He enthusiastically nodded and told us to wait. We waited for a while, and then Suntil came upstairs with a bucket of hot water. It turned out that there was no hot water heater, and he had boiled water for us.

Sunthida is so adorable, she agrees to everything. Yes, yes, yes, she nods her head repeatedly. She is so cute.

8:30 AM: After packing our belongings, we waited for the car. Since it hadn't arrived yet, we left some of our things with Pia as we were staying overnight in Nubra. We also had to vacate our room for the night to allow another guest to rent it, saving us the cost of an extra night's stay. We planned to return and rent the room again the next day.

Peeya invited me for tea, so we went to sit in the living room together.

The llama played a big trick on us, trying to fool us into eating something. 555

Day 3: Nubra Valley

Camping road trip, camel riding in Nubra

The longest road trip

Today's road trip to Nubra.

Into the great things

The further we venture into nature, the vaster it becomes, revealing ever-grander sights with each expedition. We are convinced that even greater wonders await us on future journeys. Witnessing the immensity of the world makes us feel渺小, dwarfed by the towering mountains and boundless skies that stretch as far as the eye can see.

Farewell to the lush green, the bushes in the city of Leh.

Into the vast unknown...

The first viewpoint where they will stop for us to admire the scenery.
The clouds are floating just this close, making you want to reach out and grab them.
The shadow of the clouds cast on the mountain is very clear.

During my two or three days with Thun Dub, I experienced both excitement and trepidation as he drove along the outer lane, with nothing but a deep ravine below. When passing other vehicles, it is customary for the car on the inside to stop and allow the car on the outside to pass first, for safety reasons. Thun Dub proved to be a very considerate driver on the road.

With such clear skies, how could I not take a picture?

Next, we obtained a permit to enter the Nubra Valley. At this point, the tour guide will handle everything at the checkpoint because the agency had already arranged the permission for us the previous day. However, don't forget to bring your passport. We simply waited in the car while this was being processed. Guess which book is mine. :)

The World's Highest Road

Reaching the highest road in the world (18,380 feet)
Even though it's not winter, it's cold up here. We could only stop for a short break.

Image of a young woman in a white dress

The image depicts a young woman in a white dress. She is standing in a field of flowers, with her back to the camera. The woman's hair is long and flowing, and she is smiling. The image is well-composed and captures the beauty of the woman and her surroundings.

The second stopover was a place where I almost didn't want to get off because I was so sleepy. I was about to fall asleep, but I knew I would regret it if I didn't get off. There were horses, people having picnics, and a school bus parked for the children to play. The children here have really cute faces, with sharp eyes that stare intently and a knack for playing with the camera.

Maggi is a consistently reliable option.

Once outside Leh, I miss Leh so much. I miss it every time I eat. T-T
The farther out we get, the harder it is to find food with any flavor. Boo hoo. So, our favorite thing to eat is "Maggi with egg."
It's not Maggi sauce, but the same brand. They sell it here as instant noodles. Order it as "maggi with egg."
We think it's a lifesaver, and it's delicious if the restaurant makes it well. It's hard to make this dish taste bad!
If a restaurant doesn't make maggi well, we say don't order anything else.

My responsibility.

First time using a pit toilet in my life..

At least it's clean, better than the restrooms at the scenic viewpoint. Don't even think about going in there. I wouldn't even step foot in there.

Now, let's open it!

On the way, he will take us to a few places before reaching the village. We think that if you don't want to waste time, you should skip the hot spring because there is nothing there. There are only horses behind the mountain and a foot bath as shown in the picture below.

The second place was a Tibetan temple with friendly-looking Tibetan yaks. When we arrived, the lamas were chanting, so we sat and listened for a while before leaving.

This way is almost there...

The roadside is lined with clusters of purple flowers. These plants are often used as hedges around houses.

Barpa, the camel with the withered hump

Let's ride a camel! We were a little late, but luckily we made it in time. Oh, I love animal riding! Whether it's a horse, an elephant, or a camel, I love it! (But besides horses, I've never ridden anything else. But I know I like it, haha!) Our camel's name is Barpa. It doesn't drink water or something, why is it so skinny? But it's not as skinny as Aey and Nadia's. It's so skinny that it folds over to the side. It's fun, I wish I could ride it longer.

Dinner...

After instructing our host to prepare dinner for us, we eagerly returned home, only to discover that the meal was...unpalatable. It seems that those residing at high altitudes tend to favor vegetarian cuisine. The dishes consisted of an unidentifiable curry and stir-fry (although the flatbreads were surprisingly delicious). In response, we resorted to consuming chips with rice. Despite our efforts to conceal our disappointment, our host couldn't help but notice our predicament. Fearing their feelings would be hurt, we feigned enjoyment, exclaiming "Hmm, this is quite tasty!" The entire experience was undeniably humorous.

Be warned: bring plenty of snacks to Nubra!

Let's write postcards and then go to sleep.

Day 4

Farewell, Nubra

back to Leh

The open road stretches before us, accompanied only by the rhythm of the playlist and the quiet intimacy of our shared journey.

On our way back, we stopped at two nearby places: a temple and the Phra Si Ariyametrai statue. Then, we embarked on a long road trip. Hitchhiking with strangers could be fun if they are friendly, but it could also be incredibly boring if they are not. These past two days have been the longest I've spent alone with myself. Don't forget to bring a cool playlist on your phone or iPod (the Tata Xenon has an auxiliary cable for connecting to speakers). We only prepared a few songs and took turns listening to them while driving. The Tata Xenon's music was quite good, as it was still relatively new and played mostly upbeat songs. As for us, we were haunted by the song "Lost Star" for a while after we got back. Every time we hear it, the smell of dust from Leh comes flooding back.

In this picture, Aey says, "I'm not going up there. I'll wait here." (Aey has a fear of heights, haha!)

Okay, leave it here, Ae. We're going.

And then we returned to Leh safely. This picture is a screenshot from a video we took of ourselves dancing on the way. Let's dance again on our next trip! I promise to upload the video to the cloud so it won't disappear.
