Seize the moment

To freeze time in Bang Pa-in.

This could be an ordinary weekday morning, where we have traveled back to experience the ancient city of Ayutthaya. Many things in Ayutthaya remain unchanged since our last visit a year ago. The surrounding landscape still consists of rice fields and roads that have begun to cut through from the new capital. Many things make us think back to the precious past. But at the same time, the most important thing right now is the new destination that we have yet to experience.

The bus stopped at the entrance for us to get off and experience the famous palace in Ayutthaya. The ordinariness of the area seemed to draw us to start pointing our cameras at various points without hesitation. We walked past tall trees, which it is not difficult to guess that the nature here is likely older than our own age. So we could only capture those memories in photos, in case one day we will be able to look back at this tree again through the photos of memory.

Lush greenery invites us to immerse ourselves in the scent of nature. Certain areas are reserved to prevent tourists from trampling on the abundance that we all help to preserve. If we want the beauty to last for generations to come, perhaps the consciousness of the great traveler is akin to making oneself small and respecting nature, which originated before us. The soft sunlight hitting the water's surface makes us squint. The clarity of the water provides a habitat for schools of fish swimming to avoid the sun's scorching rays. We slowly move our camera to avoid the backlight to capture the reflection of the gently flowing water before carefully storing these magnificent images on our memory card.

Beauty can be found in the sky and in the majestic architecture. Capturing the blue canvas of the sky can be as challenging as facing the scorching sun. The cream-colored architecture may not stand out if it is not set against a backdrop of azure. As travelers armed with our trusty cameras, we patiently wait for the crowds to disperse and for the sun to retreat behind the blue clouds before we press the shutter. Our short journey has taught us the value of slowness. Waiting is worthwhile if our hopes are fulfilled as we desire. Designing beautiful memories will make us want to cherish that feeling forever. Perhaps the true meaning of life is to venture out and rediscover the world, enriched with positive emotions and vivid memories.
