A call for people from Loei Province to make some noise. Woohoo!
So you're brewing and playing yourself?
When it comes to Isaan, the province with the most tourist attractions is undoubtedly Loei. This province boasts a wealth of destinations suitable for all seasons, with some even accessible year-round.
A city of mountains and seas, the coldest in Siam, with beautiful flowers in three seasons, a home to noble monks, and a commitment to cleanliness.
Yes, the tourist attractions according to the slogan of Loei Province are beautiful in both culture and women. Okay, let's get back to the topic. Today, I have 5 amazing tourist attractions with 5 different charms, and most importantly, 5 must-visit places in Loei Province to recommend. Some of them may have been posted before, but today I will summarize them again. What are the 5 places? Let's read the table of contents first.
Hike, trek, admire the mist, greet the morning sun, chase the sunset, play in the waterfalls, and stroll through the walking street. Enjoy the beauty of Thai cherry blossoms, all in one place.
1 Khao Kradong, a place to test the strength of tourists
2. Phu Bak Dai, a new tourist destination that tests your courage and leg strength, or as I call it, "close to the eye but far from the foot."
3. Chiang Khan, a charming and peaceful town that captivates everyone.
4. Phu Lom Lo (Pink Mountain) A popular tourist destination in Thailand to see cherry blossoms.
And 5. Huai Krathing, a place for relaxing on a raft.
...................................................................................
Let's start with the first one, which is Phu Kradueng.
**
**
Phu Kradueng, a place that cannot be ignored. On October 1st, the mountain will be open to welcome all adventurers, including myself, who will be conquering Phu Kradueng again. This will be my third time, but it will be my first time visiting when the mountain has just reopened. Hmm, it must be beautiful.
Let's talk about the charm of Phu Kradueng first. The highlight of Phu Kradueng is the journey, which is both tiring and fun. But, this is where its charm lies, making everyone fall in love with it. Whether it's the beautiful pine forest, the magnificent waterfalls, the vibrant maple leaves, or even the morning mist and the evening sunset. And there's more! The starry sky in the vast forest. See? This is just a glimpse, and it's already irresistible. So, let's go! Let's hike Phu Kradueng together.
.............................................
You can get there by private car or public transportation. It's easy to get there, so don't worry. This time I went by private car. There is a parking lot available, but you have to hurry. It closes at 2 pm. Then I went to buy tickets. I didn't want to be late.
The entrance fee to the park is only 30 baht, a real bargain!
Many people are worried about their luggage. Don't worry, there is a porter service available, but it is not free. It costs 30 baht per kilogram. However, if you are able to carry your own luggage, like me, you can do it yourself. It's easy to carry your own luggage.
How about that? Seeing this picture, do you still regret the 30 baht?
The trail consists of 12 sections, with a total distance of 9.050 meters to the tourist service point, which is approximately 9 kilometers away.
Phu Kradueng National Park offers not only a physical challenge but also a variety of delicious food options at each campsite. Remember, if you get tired, take a break and enjoy some refreshments. Don't worry, if your partner doesn't love you, you can always come back. Just kidding! If you're feeling weary, grab a drink and relax.
This sign marks a significant landmark that no visitor to Phu Kradueng National Park should miss. It signifies the accomplishment of reaching the summit, a feat that many strive for. The inscription reads, "Once in a lifetime, we are the conquerors of Phu Kradueng." The speaker expresses their intention to return and add "third time" to the inscription on their next visit.
Walk a long way, and then walk again. It's about 3 kilometers from the sign where I took the picture earlier. That's where the accommodation is. I recommend going up early in the morning, otherwise it will be dark, like us. We went up late and it was already dark.
Another highlight of Phu Kradueng is the breathtaking sunrise amidst a sea of mist. Let's embark on a journey to witness this spectacular phenomenon.
4:50 AM: Wake up early to catch the sunrise at Pha Nok Aen, a 3 km hike (6 km roundtrip). Bring a flashlight and walk in a group. Park rangers will lead the way. Arrive early to secure a good viewing spot.
Upon arrival, it was still dark. I looked for something to warm me up, and a hot cup of coffee seemed like a good idea. And it really was! It was sold by park officials for 25 baht, which was the price of hot water. As for the coffee, the staff said it was free. Haha!
The sky begins to reveal the orange glow of the rising sun.
If I go, I will be lucky. There will be a sea of fog. But I'm unlucky haha, but that's okay. See you again in October.
The gentle sunlight filtering through the pine trees is a sight to behold.
After the trip, I returned to the tourist service center. On the way back, I passed by the Lan Wang Prakeo, but I didn't go in. I just paid my respects from afar. Haha.
A truly comprehensive experience at Phu Kradueng.
Heading to the waterfall and maple leaves. Hmm, exciting. The walk can be done two ways, but you can only return one way. You can walk back from the waterfall via the cliff, or walk back from the cliff via the cliff.
The waterfall consists of four sections: Wankuang, Penphopmai, Phonphop, and Penphop. Due to the low water level, the photos I captured primarily focus on the maple leaves. I will revisit the site this October and provide additional photos.
..................................
In the same direction, besides the waterfall, there is also a path leading to Pha Lomsak, the heroine of this place. Let's go and play in the waterfall!
Waterfall, waterfall, it's really a waterfall! Haha, this is what happens when you come at the wrong time of year. I'll show you again in October.
Astonishing, isn't it? The waterfall and the maple leaves complement each other perfectly. I think it's incredibly beautiful, a harmonious blend.
Next, head to the heroine of Phu Kradueng, Pha Lom Sak. Before reaching the cliff, everyone will be able to admire the pine forest mixed with grasslands. Let me tell you, it's so beautiful that you'll have to say wow.
If you can't walk, there are bicycles available to rent. This one is white and beautiful. Is it a bicycle? Haha, it's the person riding the bicycle.
As I continued walking, I arrived at Pha Luam Sak. The place was packed with people, as if they were waiting for free stuff. Some lucky individuals managed to line up at the right time to catch the perfect sunlight. However, I wasn't one of them. The sun hadn't set yet, so I took some photos before heading back. Here's a clear comparison between two years.
Back, back, it's getting late, but luckily I can still see the sunset.
That's it for the first location, which was quite lengthy. I'll try to keep the next one shorter. Let's move on to the second location.
Phu Bak Dai, also known as Pha Luak Luang or the Bald Mountain, is a new tourist destination in Loei Province. It has recently opened to the public and offers a unique and challenging experience compared to other mountains in the area. Unlike Phu Kradueng, which has shops and electricity, Phu Bak Dai is a more rugged and remote destination. It requires a significant amount of physical endurance, as the trail is steep and there are no amenities available. Visitors should be prepared for a challenging but rewarding experience.
....................................................
Gazing at the stars, watching the sun set, observing the mist, and witnessing the first light of dawn.
Phu Bak Dai is located in Phu Ruea District, within the Phu Luang Wildlife Sanctuary. It borders three sub-districts of Phu Ruea District: San Tom, Tha Sala, and Pla Ba. The recommended route is the Ban Nam Thob route in Pla Ba sub-district. To reach Phu Bak Dai, travel from Phu Ruea towards the agricultural highlands, passing Pla Ba Waterfall and Song Kon Waterfall. The distance is approximately 20 kilometers from Phu Ruea District. Tourists can access the summit from two points: Ban Klang and Ban Nam Thob.
The journey is divided into two parts: first, a ride on an e-taek up the mountain, followed by a walk. Yes, you read that right, a walk! Haha.
The cost will be 500 baht per person for the car and guide. It's definitely worth it because they will help you carry all your belongings, but you can also carry them yourself, haha.
This is the way we go, ride a car, walk and enjoy the view. We walked and walked. If you ask how beautiful the mountain is, I would say it's very beautiful.
Amidst our weary trek, we paused to witness the breathtaking sunset. Despite our fatigue, the captivating vista reignited our spirits. We yearned for more, not of the arduous path, but of the mesmerizing scenery that unfolded before us. Its beauty was so profound that we wished to preserve it forever.
We soon arrived at our campsite, where we set up our tents, ate dinner, and had a party. The sky was clear and dark, perfect for stargazing. So, we decided to take some photos of the stars. I don't know how to take photos of stars, but my brother does, so I was happy to let him do it.
The chirping of birds outside. Did I wake up late? No, they woke up earlier. The people are full. They woke up to watch the sunrise. How could I not wake up? Let's go. Let's go. Let me tell you, it's worth it to wake up this time.
Every tourist destination has its landmark, and this place is no exception. It's the Deceptive Cliff. Now, are you confused or not? Haha, try it for real.
This is not a big lie. Take this too.
Adieu, Phu Lom Lo, a place that is good for the heart but hell on the legs, haha! If you plan to visit, make sure you're in good physical shape.
Continuing on to our third location, there's no other place than Chiang Khan, the iconic town that every tourist must visit. It's a destination that can be enjoyed in any season and a place that I personally adore. I've been there so often that I even created a post highlighting the differences between each season. As for Chiang Khan itself, I won't delve into too much detail as most people are already familiar with its charm thanks to the numerous reviews available. Instead, I've decided to take a different approach with this post. Having visited so frequently, I've developed a deep affection for the town. For those interested in learning more, you can find additional information below.
Let me show you the charm of Chiang Khan.
Nestled amidst lush greenery, a charming wooden café beckons with its irresistible aroma and delectable flavors.
Chiang Khan is a town bordering Laos, with a similar landscape to our own. It is possible to take a boat across the river to Laos.
Another unique charm that cannot be found elsewhere is the walking street lined with antique wooden houses. I must say, I love it!
Or perhaps the Mekong River, where one side is a wooden house and the other is the river.
The landmark of this place is the ancient wooden house that everyone must take a picture of.
This includes unique menus featuring local dishes sourced by villagers from the surrounding area.
In the winter, you will encounter mist and beautiful flowers. I must say, it's definitely worth a visit.
Behold, Chiang Khan: A City of Enchantment
This is Chiang Khan, a city that captivates hearts, a city that has stolen mine. I have visited countless times, yet each visit unveils a new layer of its charm.
Next up is our fourth location, Phu Lom Lo, the pink mountain. This mountain is covered in Rhododendron simsii flowers, also known as the "Thai sakura."
Phu Lom Lo is located in Kok Sathon Subdistrict, Dan Sai District, Loei Province, within the Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park. Phu Lom Lo is a mountain located on the border of three provinces: Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, and Loei. What makes Phu Lom Lo a popular tourist destination at the moment is that it is a viewpoint for the Queen's Flower (Rhododendron simsii) with an area of over 1,000 rai. The Queen's Flower of Phu Lom Lo is not only available at one point, but is scattered in many points and will bloom among the valleys, forests, and grasslands. Phu Lom Lo is a tourist destination with beautiful mountain scenery and a cold climate. The Queen's Flower blooms in January of each year. However, the blooming period varies each year, so it is recommended to check the information before traveling. There are two ways to get to see the beauty: the Kok Sathon side and the Ban Rong Kla side. You can choose the route that is most convenient for you. We chose to go through Dan Sai District, Kok Sathon Subdistrict, because it is the closest to us.
This scenic location is ideal for photography enthusiasts and campers alike. Surrounded by barren mountains, the accommodations offer a breathtaking backdrop. Moreover, the exceptionally cold climate provides a refreshing escape from the heat.
Transportation will be arranged by each accommodation at a cost of 1,500 baht per vehicle. Visitors are advised to bring long-sleeved shirts for dust protection and face masks. The peak blooming season for the tiger lily flower is mid-March. If you have the opportunity, you should definitely visit, as the flowers were not yet in full bloom when I went.
And finally, we arrive at our last stop.
Huai Krathing is easily accessible, requiring only a short climb and located just 10 kilometers from the city center. This idyllic spot offers a unique dining experience, allowing patrons to immerse their feet in the cool water while surrounded by the embrace of the mountains. The diverse menu caters to all tastes, making it the perfect destination for a memorable meal.
This place is perfect for taking your family out for dinner. You can rent the entire place for an hourly rate.
This is an empty paragraph.
An enchanting atmosphere
With cool water from the reservoir
While a more detailed description might be difficult to visualize, one thing is certain: Loei is a province that caters to all travel preferences. If you have the opportunity, I encourage you to visit and experience the charm of Loei for yourself.
...............................................
This concludes my review for this trip. I am always happy to share travel destinations with everyone and thank you all for reading my post. I apologize for any omissions or errors. See you in the next post. Thank you.
