Panasnikhom, a district of Chonburi, is known for its legend of Phra Rot Meri and the Cave of the Twelve Maidens, a folktale familiar to us all. Additionally, the district boasts traditional handicrafts and woven goods, a legacy passed down through generations. Located within easy reach of Bangkok, Panasnikhom offers a convenient escape from the city.

I encourage my friends to visit Phana, a city with numerous attractions. Let's explore the places I took my friends to visit.

The Cave of the Twelve Maidens is located in Tambon Mon Nang. In the past, this area had many large rocks piled up, with tunnels or deep holes inside. Over time, the numerous rocks (believed to be the pillows of the twelve maidens according to the legend of Phra Rot Meri) were taken by villagers for various uses. Another part is located at Wat Noen Lang Tao. Currently, the mouth of the cave is closed.

The Chedi of Noen That, also known as the Stupa of Noen That, is located in Na Phra That Subdistrict. It is believed to have been built during the Dvaravati period. Some local legends claim that this is the site of the city of Phra Rot, as mentioned in the folktale of Phra Rot and Meri.

The Temple of Wat Bot

The Temple of Wat Bot, located in the Wat Bot sub-district of Phanat Nikhom district, Chonburi province, is an ancient temple built in the late Ayutthaya period. The remaining structures include the late Ayutthaya-style Ubosot and the bell-shaped pagoda. These structures are considered beautiful historical sites suitable for tourism and hold significant historical value.

The air around the Phra That hill is very good.

The interior is antique and very beautiful.

A legendary 5-baht noodle stall, a testament to the affordability of noodles. Decades ago, a bowl cost only a few salungs (approximately 50-60 years ago). Despite six decades passing, the price remains unchanged, defying economic trends and fulfilling the dreams of those with limited means. The kind-hearted elderly owner, Auntie Tiang (Grandma Tiang), serves delicious noodles with a sweet and fragrant broth, tender meat, and blood pudding, all prepared according to an ancient recipe on a charcoal stove. Don't miss out on this opportunity to experience a taste of history. Located near Wat Bot, a visit is sure to leave you satisfied.

Auntie Tieng's shop, only 5 baht!

A bowl of noodles for only 5 baht! Delicious, with incredibly tender minced pork.

I ordered Mama noodles too, they are delicious and cost 10 baht as well.

The Uthokhepsimarama Temple, also known as Wat Nam, is a temple of the Thammayut Nikaya sect. Within the temple grounds, there is a traditional Thai house that was once used by His Royal Highness Prince Vajiralongkorn when he visited the temple. The temple's atmosphere is serene and cool, thanks to the lush greenery. There are also beautiful kuti (monks' residences) located by the pond, which is home to a variety of large fish species.

The Wat Luang Temple is located in Wat Luang Subdistrict. Inside the temple, there are millions of fruit bats living in the trees.

Sis Garden Coffee & Restaurant in Phana Nikhom is a popular spot for locals to relax and enjoy a meal. The restaurant serves both food and desserts, and offers free Wi-Fi to its patrons. The atmosphere is very pleasant.

Inside the Sis shop

Banana Sunday ice cream, full of bananas.

Refreshing mango smoothie, perfectly balanced between sweet and tart, ready to serve.

The shop's signature menu features a variety of delicious options, including ice cream, crispy bread, fruits, crunchy snacks, and toppings like chocolate, honey, and condensed milk. The generous portions and affordable prices make it a must-try. Come and enjoy a satisfying meal!

The Ratchaprapha Dam is located in Ko Chan District, approximately 17 kilometers north of Phanas Nikhom city. This large reservoir boasts stunning scenery and a pleasant atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and recreation.

The Old Market and the Wickerwork Market in Phanat Nikhom offer a wide variety of beautiful wickerwork products made from bamboo. The markets are open daily.

Khao Din Temple is beautiful.

The rectangular pond, built with laterite bricks, is a registered historical site under the Fine Arts Department. It is believed to have been constructed between the 13th and 17th centuries. According to local folklore, this is the pond where Phra Rot used to water his rooster before the cockfight that determined the fate of the city.

My trip to Phanas Nikhom has come to an end. I must say that I was incredibly impressed by the people here. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. This place has a truly unique and classic atmosphere.

I encourage everyone to visit this place. It's not far from Bangkok and is easily accessible.

I'm planning to review a new tourist spot. Where should I go explore?
