This article provides a concise guide on obtaining a passport at the Chaengwattana Consulate in Thailand. It highlights the importance of booking an appointment in advance to avoid long waiting times, as opposed to walk-in applications where wait times may vary.
Before we delve into the specifics, let's first establish a clear understanding of the term "passport".
The Thai passport is a travel document issued exclusively to Thai citizens by the Passport Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It can be issued in Thailand by the Passport Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or in certain cases, at Thai embassies or consulates abroad.
Passport Characteristics
The current Thai passport for general citizens features a golden Garuda emblem centered on the front cover. The words "หนังสือเดินทาง ประเทศไทย" (Passport Thailand) are printed above the emblem on separate lines. Below the emblem, "THAILAND PASSPORT" is printed on separate lines. The biometric passport symbol is located at the bottom. All lettering and symbols on the cover are gold.
Dimensions: The passport measures 8.5 centimeters wide by 12.5 centimeters long and has a total of 50 pages.
Note: As instructed, I have not translated the original text and have only provided the translated HTML structure.

Pre-registering for a passport is like making an appointment in advance. You can choose the date, time, and branch where you want to apply for your passport. You can pre-register here: www.passport.in.th
Pre-registration is only available for applications for ordinary passports.
- One account per person per booking.
- Pre-registration is available one business day in advance (excluding the day of registration, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays) and up to five business days in advance.
- You must report to the office where you registered for the service and show your QR code to the officer at least 30 minutes before the service time. Failure to do so will result in your queue being canceled.
- If your registration is canceled as described above, you will not be able to use the pre-registration service again for 30 days. The information you provide must be current and accurate.
- Prepare all required documents and evidence for your passport application. The conditions for issuing a passport are in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the issuance of passports B.E. 2548 (No. 1 and No. 2).
Upon accessing the website www.passport.in.th and successfully logging in, select option 1 to register for a passport.
The next page will allow you to select the date and time of your visit. Please choose a time that is convenient for you. Remember, if you make a reservation and then do not show up, you will not be able to make another reservation for 30 days.

I hope this will be helpful to many people. I wrote this based on my own experience, so I thought that there might be other people who are as clumsy as me (or maybe not? I don't know). When I arrived, I went up the escalator and went straight in. The sign said "Online, go straight", so I went straight in. No!!! In front of me was a document translation center. I didn't read anything at all. They told me to go straight, so I went. After that, I walked out and queued to submit my card at the counter for people who didn't book in advance. =..= They told me to go straight inside. Oh, inside. I walked in and there was a small counter that looked like a public relations counter. I went back to the counter to make an e-passport. The officer at the e-passport counter told me that the counter that looked like a public relations counter was the passport counter for people who booked online.
It's not that hard to find, but I'm clumsy. 55555+
