The Cave of Pha Chea: A Hidden Gem in Nong Bua Lamphu
The Cave of Pha Chea, nestled within the Wat Phutthabuppha temple, remains largely unknown to the public. Despite its obscurity, the cave offers a unique and rewarding experience for those seeking a tranquil escape.
Located in the heart of Na Wang district, Nong Bua Lamphu province, Pha Chea sits along the Loei-Udon Thani road, approximately 45 kilometers from Wang Saphung district in Loei province. Approaching from Loei, the cave appears on the right-hand side, just a short drive from the foot of the mountain. Ample parking is available, and the ascent to the cave's entrance takes no more than 15 minutes.
With nothing to do on Saturday, I invited my friend to go for a drive. His house is in Nong Bua, and I had seen pictures he had taken there before. I thought it looked beautiful, so I asked him to take me there. We drove around, enjoying the scenery along the way.
Many people enjoy traveling during the winter, but for me, the rainy season is the most beautiful. Everywhere I look, there is nothing but green.
I stopped here and there, and by the time I arrived, it was almost five o'clock. I hurried up before it started to rain.
Taking photos along the way up.
Actually, there is a cave too, but I didn't go in. I don't like caves, haha.
The rocks here also have the characteristics shown in the picture. They look like they have been eroded by wind or water. I don't know what kind of rock they are called, but their shape is unusual and beautiful.
There are many beautiful angles for you to sit and stand to take pictures, but be careful.
Lost in the moment, I didn't notice the sky darkening and the rain approaching. By the time I looked up, the clouds had gathered, and the opportunity for more stunning photos had slipped away.
The actual location is far more beautiful than captured here. My phone camera, limited in its ability to capture details at a distance, unfortunately, couldn't do it justice.
Nong Bua Lamphu province is often overlooked as a mere stopover point. However, it boasts numerous hidden gems, including the stunning Tham Erawan cave, renowned for its intricate stalactites and stalagmites. Located just 10 kilometers from Pha Chor, Tham Erawan is a must-visit for travelers heading to Udon Thani. For those exploring Loei province, a detour to Tham Erawan on the return journey is highly recommended. Simply turn left upon reaching Wang Saphung district and continue driving for less than an hour. The mesmerizing beauty of Tham Erawan is guaranteed to leave a lasting impression.
See you next time
