A Field of Marigolds to Honor the King

A field of 450,000 marigolds will bloom in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, as a tribute to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The flowers will be arranged in the shape of a giant "๙" (the Thai numeral for nine), symbolizing the King's reign. The "Field of Marigolds, United in Loyalty" project will cover 50 rai (20 acres) at the foot of Khao Thong mountain. The public can visit the display from October 13th to 20th, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Afterward, the marigolds will be transplanted to decorate government buildings.

Upon receiving the information, I immediately drove from Bangkok at 5:00 AM and arrived at 7:30 AM. The early morning arrival was ideal, as there were not many people yet. The night before my visit, there was heavy rain, which caused some marigolds to fall over. The walking path is made of soil, so be careful not to slip. The atmosphere at the venue is as shown in the pictures.

As I continued to take photos, I noticed that more and more people were starting to arrive.

As I ventured deeper into the marigold field, I witnessed soldiers diligently collecting fallen flowers, victims of the previous night's downpour.

Upon entering the event, one will encounter a "Tribute to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej" pavilion.
