"From within the temple, one can admire the beautiful scenery of the Mekong River and the landscape of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on the opposite bank."

The temple houses the world's largest "AEC gong," which stands 26 meters tall with a 10-meter radius and a 20-meter diameter. Weighing 18,000 kilograms, the gong's main support pillar was constructed over two years to ensure its stability.

Let's continue to Pha Taem National Park, which is about 19 kilometers from the temple.

Pha Taem National Park is located in Nong Phue Noi Village, Huai Phai Subdistrict, Khong Chiam District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, approximately 95 kilometers from Ubon Ratchathani City. Covering an area of over 200,000 rai, the park boasts numerous attractions, including the Saen Chalang Cliff, situated about 1 kilometer before Pha Taem.

Rock Pillar, also known as "Sao Chalierng," is located in Huai Phai Subdistrict, Khong Chiam District. These Jurassic sandstone pillars resemble blooming mushrooms and are scattered across the rocky plains of Pha Taem National Park. They were formed naturally over millions of years by the continuous erosion of water and wind-blown gravel.

Natural sculptures of the Sala Daeng pillars, rocks with better resistance to erosion will remain more.

Pha Taem: A Breathtaking Cliff with Historical Significance

Pha Taem, a naturally stunning cliff face, offers breathtaking panoramic views and the unique distinction of being the first place in Thailand to witness the sunrise. This site holds immense archaeological significance for the Isan region. The word "Taem" in the local dialect signifies "to paint, to spread, to imprint, or to perform an action in any way using color, resulting in a picture, symbol, or various other markings."

Admission fee: Thai adults 40 baht, children 20 baht / Foreign adults 400 baht, children 200 baht.

The lower cliff face features approximately 300 prehistoric paintings.

The second group of paintings still clearly shows the visible colors.

Prehistoric paintings are at least three to four thousand years old.

Visiting Ubon Ratchathani wouldn't be complete without a trip to Wat Sirindhorn Wararam Phu Phrao, also known as Wat Rueang Saeng. Located in Sirindhorn district, this temple sits atop a high hill, replicating the environment of the mythical Himaphan Forest or Mount Kailash. From the peak, visitors can admire the majestic golden-painted Ubosot hall. The highlight of the temple is the opportunity to witness the luminous image of the Kalpavriksha tree, a celestial wish-fulfilling tree, painted on the back wall of the Ubosot at night.

The ubosot draws inspiration from the Wat Xieng Thong in Laos.

The Kalpapruek tree illuminates beautifully at night. The best time to visit and photograph the Kalpapruek tree is between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM, when the tree's luminescence is most visible.

The principal Buddha statue is exquisitely crafted, with a beautifully carved Bodhi tree behind it.
