So Sofitel Hua Hin: A Chic Getaway Near Bangkok

If you're seeking a seaside escape near Bangkok, So Sofitel Hua Hin offers a unique and stylish experience. This 5-star hotel boasts a chic ambiance, stunning photo opportunities, and a variety of facilities catering to all ages.

During our visit, the hotel hosted a White Night Party on the beach, featuring live jazz music, DJ sets, and a delectable seafood buffet. This event takes place every third Saturday of the month.

Stay tuned for our upcoming review to discover more about this unforgettable getaway.

SO Sofitel Hua Hin

The resort is conveniently located within a 15-minute drive from Santorini Park, a 7-minute drive from the heart of Cha-am, and 30 kilometers from the center of Hua Hin.

Individuals without personal vehicles can opt for a van service that drops them off at the entrance of Cha-am Beach. The hotel offers a shuttle bus service (with a fee) but requires prior reservation and confirmation of timings with the hotel.

Upon entering the resort, you will be greeted by a large rabbit named "Suk Sabai" holding a clock. This adorable mascot acts as the Time Keeper, symbolically pausing time upon your arrival. This playful concept allows you to fully unwind and enjoy your stay without any worries or deadlines. This charming gimmick perfectly complements the overall concept of So Sofitel Hua Hin, creating a truly relaxing and carefree atmosphere.

Upon entering the lobby, you will be greeted by a **spacious white marble courtyard**. The minimalist yet stylish design is sure to appeal to young adults. During our visit, we even witnessed a couple having their pre-wedding photoshoot here.

Upon entering the resort, we were immediately captivated by the stunning photo opportunities in the lobby, prompting us to capture numerous shots. Check-in time was 2:00 PM (check-out time was 12:00 PM).

While waiting to check in, the staff brought cold towels and a welcome drink called "Elixir" to cool us down. The drink is a herbal infusion made with roselle, basil, and lemongrass. It has a slightly sweet taste and a fragrant herbal aroma, leaving a refreshing feeling.

From the lobby, you can see that the resort is divided into two wings of guest rooms. Each wing is a three-story building without an elevator. If you are traveling with elderly guests, it is recommended to choose a room on the first floor for convenience.

Renowned for its **distinctive and unparalleled design**, the project is the brainchild of leading Asian architect Duangrit Bunnag. He masterfully blends modern elements with natural features and playful touches, while renowned artist Donatien Carratier adds vibrant and captivating details to every corner.

The walkway from the lobby to the guest rooms features an unconventional wall design. Instead of a typical wall, it is constructed with stacked stones and interwoven with wire mesh, creating a unique and natural aesthetic.

This location offers a full range of amenities, including 5-star services such as So Spa, which provides relaxation treatments, and So Fit, a 24-hour fitness center. We particularly enjoyed the spa's ambiance, which we will explore further in our review below.

The resort boasts two stunning swimming pools where you can unwind and relax. For those seeking excitement, the So Pool, located adjacent to the beach, offers endless opportunities for fun and entertainment.

The Solarium Pool offers a private and tranquil environment for adults only. Children are not permitted in this pool, which emphasizes quiet relaxation and is unsupervised.

Another favorite spot for us was the resort's beach area. They had colorful bean bags, sunbeds, and swings for us to relax, sunbathe, or take cool photos from various angles.

For those who are afraid of the sun, you can come and chill in the evening. You will be able to see the sunset from behind the resort.

A haven of comfort in the heart of the studio.

So Sofitel Hua Hin offers 71 guest rooms and 6 pool villas. The rooms are designed for a peaceful and private stay, with free high-speed Wi-Fi to keep you connected. Each room features a home theater system, a 42-inch plasma TV, and an en-suite bathroom with luxurious amenities. Check-in is at 2:00 PM and check-out is at 12:00 PM.

Today, we're staying in the So Studio, a 60 sqm room located on the first floor. This room comes in two styles: So Nature, featuring natural décor, and So Arty, adorned with artwork and artistic elements. We'll be exploring the So Nature style during our stay.

So Studio - So Nature Style

In addition to the fruits prepared in the room, there were also sweets. These were "luk chup" (Thai sweetmeat balls) arranged on a stylish plate, sprinkled with chocolate biscuits shaped like soil, resembling freshly picked fruits from the garden.

The workspace features a separate corner, adorned with a tree branch motif that complements the overall "So Nature" style of the room.

This room does not offer a sea view. When you open the curtains, you will see a garden view or a view of the walkway outside.

Let's take a look at the Mini Bar corner next to the bathroom. What I really like is that the mini bar is free every day!

This thoughtful gesture demonstrates the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction. Guests are welcome to enjoy complimentary milk and snacks throughout the night, with the supply being replenished every morning.

The provided text is in Thai and describes the refreshments available at a location. Here's the translation:

"The refreshments provided include milk, Doi Kham fruit juice, soda, nuts, tea, coffee, and freshly brewed illy coffee with a coffee machine."

The bathroom features a large, ceiling-to-floor mirror and a double-basin sink. Amenities are provided, including towels, soap, cotton swabs, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower caps, combs, and more.

Rain shower head, which gives the feeling of standing in a light rain shower.
Or if you prefer a bath, they have spa salts available for you to exfoliate and relax in the comfort of your own tub.

The area in front of the room has chairs for relaxing and enjoying the breeze.

Two-Bedroom So Pool Villa

Next, we will take you to see a large 2-bedroom pool villa with a private pool and a living room with a large dining table, perfect for families or parties with friends.

The two bedrooms are separate and have private bathrooms.

The living room and dining area in the common area of the villa feature a sofa and an additional television.

The price of a 2-bedroom pool villa is around 2x,xxx - 3x,xxx per night for 4 guests (additional charges apply for more than 4 guests). During promotional periods, the price may be slightly lower.

SO CHILLED at SO White Night Party

During our visit, the hotel hosted a beach party called "White Night Party Vol. 7 with Monsoon Valley." This event, held every third Saturday of the month at Beach Society, features a seafood BBQ buffet with free-flowing wine for 1,900 baht. The party also includes live jazz music and DJs playing chill tunes.

Enjoying the cool evening sea breeze, listening to chill music, and savoring hot grilled seafood - a perfect combination.

The inner zone features a buffet line with fried rice, mashed potatoes, pasta, various salads, fruits, and a variety of cakes.

The highlight of the evening was the seafood BBQ. Diners could choose their ingredients and have them grilled fresh by the chef. The selection included shrimp, crab, squid, marinated pork, mushrooms, and corn. While there was no beef available, which was a slight disappointment for meat lovers, the seafood was fresh, delicious, and didn't require a long wait. Paired with the restaurant's spicy seafood dipping sauce, it was a truly satisfying experience.

For those who enjoy alcoholic beverages, the free-flow wine from 6 pm to 10 pm is a major highlight. The specific wine brands offered vary by month. During our visit, Monsoon Valley red and white wines were available. These are Thai wines that have received numerous international awards.

We don't usually drink much wine, but we tried some and it was really good quality Thai wine. It was very palatable for the two of us, with an easy-drinking taste that wasn't harsh on the throat. We could have kept drinking it all night.

Indulge in a wide variety of delicious dishes.

This resort boasts three distinct dining options, each offering a unique culinary experience.

  1. White Oven, an all-day dining restaurant, serves international breakfast buffets, authentic Thai cuisine for lunch, and dinner.
  2. HI-SO Bar, located on the rooftop, offers breathtaking ocean views.
  3. Beach Society, a beachfront restaurant and beach club, invites guests to unwind with cocktails.

We visited two restaurants, White Oven and Beach Society. Let's explore their menus and see what delicious options they offer.

White Oven

Our breakfast began at the White Oven restaurant, which offers a buffet breakfast from 6:30 AM to 11:00 AM.

The breakfast buffet offers a moderate selection of dishes, not as extensive as some, but each item is carefully chosen. The egg dishes and baked goods are particularly noteworthy, with a wide variety and appealing presentation.

A wide variety of ice cream flavors with a wide variety of toppings. You can go as wild as you want. We especially like the mangosteen flavor, which is hard to find elsewhere and has a perfect balance of sweet and sour.

Don't miss out on the cafe's unique fruit juices, available in Detox, Refresh, and other options. They're guaranteed to be refreshingly different.

The Thai food corner offers a limited selection of dishes. During our visit, they had congee, grilled pork, fried rice, green curry, soy milk, and freshly steamed buns and delicious crab dumplings. Don't miss out on the dumplings!

For lunch, we returned to the White Oven restaurant, which primarily serves authentic Thai cuisine with beautifully and creatively presented dishes. The dishes we ordered and tried today include the following...

  • Soft-shell crab salad - The taste is well-balanced and just right. The crispy soft-shell crab is placed on top of mango with a delicious Thai-style dressing. It's very delicious!

  • Scallop Mieng Kam - Plump scallops served with chef-created betel leaves, both battered and fried and original fresh. Let me tell you, this menu is absolutely amazing!

  • Shrimp Pad Thai Wrapped in Egg - Pad Thai noodles wrapped in an egg, served with crispy shrimp. A perfect combination.

  • Chicken Massaman Curry - This dish boasts a rich and complex flavor profile, thanks to the aromatic massaman curry paste. The chicken is incredibly tender, falling apart at the slightest touch. Paired with steaming hot rice, it's a truly delicious meal.

  • While waiting for the main course, guests can enjoy a selection of appetizers. The hotel serves "khao tang," a crispy rice cracker, with a special dipping sauce. The sauce has a sweet and slightly spicy flavor.

SO COCO quenches your thirst with fresh "coconut" water, served whole. The chic logo makes it the perfect photo prop for girls. The other glass is a "lychee punch" mocktail, with a sweet and sour punch flavor and a light lychee aroma. It's very refreshing.

The White Oven restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating options, allowing guests to choose their preferred ambiance. The spacious and airy setting provides a comfortable dining experience, whether guests opt for the air-conditioned interior or the breezy poolside seating.

    Beach Society's Sunday Brunch Buffet

Indulge in a delightful Sunday brunch at Beach Society, a beachfront restaurant and beach club at the SO Sofitel Hua Hin hotel. This special Sunday afternoon offers a chance to savor delicious food by the beach, extending your blissful escape in Cha-am and Hua Hin before returning to the hustle and bustle of work. Enjoy an all-you-can-eat Sunday brunch at Beach Society, where you can relish a wide array of culinary delights.

The restaurant is decorated in white and blue tones, creating a relaxing atmosphere. Diners can enjoy the sea breeze and stunning ocean views while savoring their meals.

    Sunday Brunch Buffet

    Price: 990 Baht per person

    Time: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    Includes:

    • Brunch buffet
    • Late check-out for resort guests until 4:00 PM
    • Relaxing DJ music
    • One glass of wine, beer, or non-alcoholic beverage

    Optional:

    • Unlimited drinks package for 4 hours: 700 Baht per person

Diners can order as many dishes as they like from the restaurant's menu. Each dish is served in a small portion, which is perfect for those who want to try a variety of items without getting too full.

Our favorite dish is the SALMON FLORENTINE - diced salmon served on a bed of spinach with a flavorful sauce, all atop toasted bread.

The afternoon cocktails are surprisingly refreshing. The glass on the left has a tangy, fragrant lemon flavor, while the glass on the right offers a cool, refreshing berry taste. We loved them so much that we ordered two more!

    So Relaxed at So Spa

Sol Spa: A Luxurious Oasis in the Heart of the City

Sol Spa, open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, is conveniently located next to the fitness center and Solarium Pool. This haven of relaxation utilizes PHYTOMER, a renowned French brand known for its marine-derived skincare technology.

Due to its popularity, reservations are highly recommended to avoid disappointment.

Upon arrival, guests are greeted with a refreshing welcome drink and a cool towel to beat the heat. They can then choose from a variety of spa treatments, select their preferred scent, and choose the music they would like to listen to during their spa session from a curated list provided by the hotel.

Once you're ready, the staff will escort you to the changing room to store your belongings before guiding you to the treatment room. If you're visiting with a partner, you can enjoy the treatment together. The spa offers both single and double treatment rooms. The staff will begin by washing your feet before commencing the treatment you have selected.

During the massage, the therapist will play your chosen music softly in the background, accompanied by a gentle and soothing aroma, creating a deeply relaxing and enjoyable experience. If you prefer more or less pressure in certain areas, feel free to let the therapist know.

Following the massage, the staff will escort you to the Cocoon room, a tea-tasting chamber that serves as a highlight of So Spa at So Sofitel Hua Hin, a popular destination among many.

Upon entering, one is immediately struck by the awe-inspiring ambiance. The walls are adorned with twinkling lights, creating the illusion of being surrounded by a myriad of stars. This captivating setting is an absolute must-capture for any photography enthusiast.

This is just a glimpse of what we experienced during our 3-day, 2-night trip.
