We decided to embark on a journey to experience the natural beauty of the sea, sandy beaches, breezes, morning and evening light, and each other. Our destination this time was none other than "Koh Lan", a short distance from Bangkok with a convenient travel time. More importantly, my wife had never been there, making it an easy decision to invite her to become an islander and experience the local way of life on Koh Lan.

We drove out of Bangkok in the late morning, stopping along the way to eat and relax until we reached Laem Bali Hai Pier for the ferry to Koh Lan. It was almost two in the afternoon, but by the time we arrived at Koh Lan, it was nearly three. We had to admit that the weather on the island was quite hot, the sun was strong, and there were many people. However, this is normal for a Saturday-Sunday holiday when both Thai and foreign tourists flock to Koh Lan. I had already prepared myself for this.

We booked beachfront accommodation to witness the sunrise over the ocean. The location offers stunning views and convenient access to the beach. However, the morning weather conditions remain uncertain, potentially affecting our ability to capture the desired sunrise photos.

After taking a break, we rented motorbikes and cruised along the various beaches of Koh Lan. The rental price for the entire night was 200-300 baht per motorbike. I rode the motorbike, taking my wife to explore all the beaches, including Haad Ta Waen, Haad Sangwan, Haad Thong Lang, Haad Saem, Haad Thian, Haad Nuan, and Haad Ta Yai.

Finally, we ended the day by sitting and watching the sunset. However, we were disappointed that the clouds were quite thick that evening, making it difficult to capture the perfect shot. Nevertheless, it was a memorable trip where we had the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature together on the beach and among the rocks.

In the evening, we rode a motorbike to find seafood to eat at our accommodation. We listened to the sound of the waves amidst the darkness of the sea. We could hear the voices of people around us from other accommodations, some partying, some chatting and teasing like lovers, close friends, etc. The seafood restaurant we went to buy from was a shop owned by people in the village of Sanam. The prices were not too expensive, and they grilled the seafood for us. They even offered delivery to our accommodation. On Koh Lan, there are many seafood restaurants to choose from, depending on the preferences and tastes of each person.

We set our alarm for 5:45 AM, but it was almost 6:00 AM before we could drag ourselves out of bed. Fortunately, the sun had not yet risen, giving us time to gather our wits and wake ourselves up. We went outside to watch the sunrise over the calm sea. The water level had receded significantly since the previous night, but the weather was still unpredictable. As usual, the clouds were thick, so our sunrise photos were not as perfect as we had hoped.

A one-night stay on Koh Larn revealed a bustling island teeming with tourists, making it difficult to find tranquility. While the beaches and natural beauty remain stunning, the abundance of people may not suit those seeking solitude. However, the affordable seafood from local vendors and the unforgettable experience of exploring the island's diverse beaches by motorbike make Koh Larn a memorable destination.
