Taiwan
Taiwan is a popular tourist destination for Thai travelers.
This city is beautiful in terms of art, culture, delicious food, and stunning natural attractions.
There are shopping sources that are much cheaper than Thailand. Importantly, the prices are not expensive.
The exchange rate between the Taiwanese dollar and the Thai baht is almost equal (1 TWD = 1.1 THB), making it affordable to travel in Taiwan.
This trip marked my first visit to Taiwan.
We planned our trip in advance to avoid getting lost (but we still got lost in the end, haha).
To avoid wasting time, let's embark on a journey to Taiwan together.
Let's explore the exciting attractions here!
This trip, we started our journey with Nokscoot Airlines, with tickets costing around 3-4 thousand baht per person.
If you're planning a trip, check out the special flight prices on the Traveloka app.
For the most affordable rates, we recommend booking through our app, which is available for download on both iOS and Android devices.
We booked our flights through Traveloka, which offered discounts on airfare.
Thai tourists can travel to Taiwan without a visa.
August 1, 2016 – July 31, 2018. Maximum stay in Taiwan: 30 days.
The latest change in 2018 allows Thai citizens to travel without a visa.
From today until July 31, 2019, with a maximum stay of 14 days in Taiwan.
- Online or paper entry is available.
Please select one of the following options that will be provided by the airline staff on board. *
The flight time from Don Mueang (Bangkok) to Taoyuan Airport (Taiwan) is approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes.
Our flight departed around 12:30 AM and arrived in Taiwan at approximately 5:00 AM. Taiwan is one hour ahead of Thailand.
Upon arrival, we quickly freshened up and boarded the Taoyuan Airport MRT to head into Taipei.
Note: If you arrive in the morning, it is recommended to wait for the mobile phone SIM card store to open and then purchase an internet SIM card.
A variety of packages are available, and the staff can handle everything for you. All you need is your passport.
Due to the limited availability of this product at the airport, it is highly recommended to purchase it there. We personally experienced difficulty finding it elsewhere, hence this friendly reminder.
The Taoyuan Airport MRT is clearly signposted throughout Taoyuan Airport, making it easy to find.
Just a short walk from the terminal building...
Upon arrival, you will find ticket vending machines similar to those found in our local subway system. You can purchase single-trip tickets or top-up a travel card.
For convenience, it is recommended to purchase a top-up card, as Taiwan's EasyCard offers a convenient payment option.
This card allows you to travel on both the MRT and buses in Taipei, making it a one-stop solution for exploring the city.
Alternatively, if you prefer not to purchase from the vending machine, tickets can be purchased at the ticket counter located within the BTS station.
Upon arrival, there was a slight sense of excitement, wondering if I was getting on the correct bus. But in the end, I was on the right one! Haha!
The excitement of riding the train was like that of a child, looking here and there.
Fare from Taoyuan Airport to Taipei: NT$160
Operating hours: 06:00 - 23:00
Travel time: Express Train (purple) 35 minutes (stops at some stations) /
Commuter Train (blue) 50 minutes (stops at all stations)
Our plan is to leave our luggage at our accommodation after arriving in the city before heading out to explore.
We stayed at the Mr Lobster's Secret Den Design Hostel.
Thank you for the map and accommodation information for Mr Lobster's Secret Den Design Hostel from the 1000MilesJourney.com page.
Upon arrival at Taoyuan Airport MRT Station A1 Taipei Main Station, please use Exit 5.
This accommodation is conveniently located near Taipei Main Station, making travel easy.
Exit Y19 at Taipei Main Station
Walk a little further across the street and you will see the building where you are staying on your left. Next to it is a small supermarket.
We arrived in the morning, and the front door was not yet open. We were confused, and then someone nearby pointed and spoke to us in Chinese. We were even more confused.
Following their directions, I entered the alleyway. It turned out there was also an entrance at the back.
Confused, they realized they were going to stay. Haha, they pressed the elevator button to go to the 9th floor.
The accommodation offers both dormitory and private rooms, with breakfast and free Wi-Fi included.
Overall, the condition is considered good. The price is affordable. It is close to tourist attractions and the train station, making it easy and convenient to travel.

After leaving our luggage at the accommodation, it was time to go out and explore the local cuisine.
Note: Shops, restaurants, and other businesses in this area typically open late, around 10-11 am. Finding food early in the morning can be challenging.
The First Stop: Dadaocheng Old Town (Dihua Street, Dadaocheng Wharf)
The first stop on our journey was the historic Dadaocheng district, also known as Dihua Street and Dadaocheng Wharf.
This area is an old town with charming buildings and streets, perfect for taking beautiful and relaxing photos.
There are a variety of goods available, as well as local cuisine for us to sample. Don't miss out!
This area resembles Yaowarat in Thailand, with delicious food, herbal medicine shops, and dried goods.
A period.
The local food was delicious, especially the braised pork rice and the dessert on top.
However, just because a restaurant has a long line doesn't mean it will be to everyone's taste. Some people might find it appealing, while others might not.
Unable to speak, relying on hand gestures. Uncertain of the outcome, but enjoying the process.
A short walk will lead us to a popular spot among locals, the Xia Hai Temple, where people come to pray for a partner or children.
Although we already have a partner, we didn't come here to ask for anything. We just stopped by to check out the girls. Wait a minute!...
With our bellies full, it's time to walk and digest. Let's visit the DaDaoCheng Wharf.
A port, a public park, and a seaside cycling path.
This area is popular among locals for evening leisure activities such as cycling and family gatherings.
After a tiring walk, it was time to head back to the accommodation to check in. After a short nap, we would continue our journey.
After waking up, we started to feel hungry, so we went to find something to eat at the Ningxia Night Market.
Following the directions on Google Maps from your accommodation, you will reach the food market in approximately 10 minutes.
Wow! What a market! It's so crowded! There's more than just food here.
The park also offers various games, reminiscent of those found at traditional Thai temple fairs, such as fishing and shooting games with prizes like stuffed animals.
Strolling along the way, I couldn't resist stopping to buy snacks and nibble on them as I went. There were so many tempting options, and many of the stalls were packed with customers. I couldn't resist the allure.
This restaurant was packed with people, so I decided to join the queue and give it a try. They serve dishes similar to oyster omelets and clam soup.

The dipping sauce was delicious, but the clam soup was a bit bland and lacked flavor.
After enjoying a delicious savory meal, we walked a little further and saw a queue of people. What are they lining up for? I can't help but laugh, it seems we haven't learned our lesson yet!
Indeed, the renowned bubble tea shop 50 Lan (50嵐) is a must-try for those visiting Taiwan.
The queue at the shop can be a bit confusing, as there are options to order with varying sweetness levels (very sweet/less sweet), coldness levels (very cold/less cold), and tapioca pearl sizes (small/large).
Despite the numerous inquiries, the meal was eventually served. It lived up to its reputation, proving to be an absolute must-try.
The first day of the trip ended with slightly sore legs, but very full stomachs. We ate until we were about to burst, trying everything that caught our eye.
Day 2 We visited tourist attractions near the MRT
The journey is incredibly simple, so much so that you could do it with your eyes closed. However, be warned, you might get lost! 555
The convenience and ease of navigating the city's MRT system is remarkable.
Even though it was our first time...
Don't get lost?
Lost!!! Ughhhh!!! Not lost, haha!!!
The extensive network of interconnected train lines ensures convenient access throughout Taipei City.
With Taipei Main Station serving as a central hub for all transportation modes.
Although it may seem a bit confusing, the entire network is interconnected, including high-speed trains and regular trains.
MRT, Taiyuan Airport MRT, Intercity Buses, and Clear Signage
This sentence describes various transportation options available in Taiyuan, China, including:

We appreciate the map of tourist attractions along the MRT lines from the Taiwan Bar - 臺灣吧! page, which has made our trip easier.
Longshan Temple
Directions:
MRT Longshan Temple Station (Blue Line BL10), Exit 1 or Underground Passageway (with signs).
It is said that Longshan Temple is the most sacred temple in Taiwan. Therefore, we stopped by to pay our respects and make wishes before visiting other places.
Upon entering the temple, we encountered a large number of Taiwanese devotees engaged in fervent prayer. Their unwavering faith and fervent pleas for the opportunity to return to this sacred site were truly inspiring.
Image of a scenic landscape
The provided link leads to an image of a picturesque landscape. However, without further context or information about the image, it is impossible to provide a more detailed description or analysis.
Would you like to provide additional information about the image, such as its location, the time of year it was taken, or any other relevant details? This would allow me to offer a more comprehensive and informative response.
Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall
The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is a prominent landmark in Taipei, Taiwan. It commemorates the life and legacy of Chiang Kai-shek, the former president of the Republic of China. The hall features a large statue of Chiang Kai-shek, as well as exhibits on his life and career. It is a popular tourist destination and a significant historical site.
Travel: MRT Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall (Green Line G 10), Exit 5
This place was built to commemorate former President Chiang Kai-shek. It is truly magnificent and impressive.
Soldiers change guard every hour from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. (Unfortunately, I arrived too late.)
Taipei Fish Market (Addiction Aquatic Development)
Transportation: Take bus number 49 from the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department store in front of Taipei Main Station.
Take a 30-minute car ride and get off at the 2nd Fruit and Vegetable Market, which will be on your left.
After getting off, cross the street and enter the alley next to the fruit and vegetable market. Walk a short distance.
Having arrived in Taiwan, we were eager to experience the full range of public transportation options available, so that we could share our experiences with our friends. Haha!
The bus stop displays the bus routes and arrival times, making it a convenient and user-friendly experience.
The question is, are we lost? The answer is no! We just got off one stop early. Haha! We argued about whether it was the right stop, but in the end, we got off.
This place offers fresh seafood, perfect for those who enjoy raw fish or other seafood dishes.
Customers can choose their desired ingredients and have the chef prepare them for immediate consumption.
After seeing many people eating inside, I decided to try finding a restaurant to eat outside near the market.
There are many Japanese restaurants outside, and you can choose according to your preferences. The prices are also reasonable.
We tried it and it was amazing! If you're in Taipei, you have to try it. Just thinking about it makes me want to go back and eat it again (drooling).
Elephant Mountain (Xiangshan)
Transportation: Take the MRT Xiangshan Station (Red Line R02), Exit 2.
After taking bus route 49 back to Taipei Main Station, we continued our journey to Elephant Mountain (Xiangshan).
Elephant Mountain offers panoramic views of Taipei 101 and the city skyline from above.
It is undeniably beautiful, especially at night.
After exiting the train station, walk another 800 meters. The path will be slightly steep as it ascends the hill.
Initially, I didn't feel tired at all. However, once I started feeling tired, I was completely exhausted. 555
The distance and incline are significant, so it is recommended to bring water.
The view from the top is breathtaking, making the climb well worth the effort. The scenery is magnificent and truly awe-inspiring.
Day 3 After a tiring day of walking yesterday, today we decided to take it easy.
Taipei Main Station (Q Square)
Image: https://www.9aooddytravel.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/DSC03971.jpg
This is the transportation hub of Taipei City, including MRT, high-speed rail, and buses.
A wide variety of products are available, including clothing, shoes, electronics, phones, snacks, toys, and many other services.
It's like combining Mo Chit, MBK Center, Hua Lamphong, BTS, and MRT into one place.
It is convenient and has all the amenities. I love it so much. I don't have to go anywhere far.
