"Following in the Footsteps of the King: Khun Dan Prakarn Chon Dam, Nakhon Nayok" The Khun Dan Prakarn Chon Dam, formerly known as the Khlong Tha Dan Dam, is part of the Upper Nakhon Nayok River Basin Development Project. It is the longest roller-compacted concrete dam in Thailand, located in Ban Tha Dan, Hin Tang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Nayok Province. Its purpose is to store rainwater for use during the dry season and to control flooding of houses, fields, and farms during the rainy season. It was built according to the initiative of King Rama IX to solve the problems of flooding and acidic soil. Visitors can enjoy adventure activities or take a boat trip above the dam to admire the beautiful mountain scenery and nature. There are also waterfalls such as Phang Nga Mon, Khlong Kram, and Chong Lom inside the dam. The Khun Dan Prakarn Chon Dam: A Solution to Seasonal Flooding and Drought

The Khun Dan Prakarn Chon Dam, formerly known as the Tha Dan Weir, was constructed to regulate the flow of the Tha Dan Canal, which originates in the Khao Yai National Park. During the rainy season, the original weir was insufficient to contain the high water volume, leading to flooding in the surrounding lowlands and causing hardship for local residents. Conversely, during the dry season, there was insufficient water storage. Recognizing the need for a more effective solution, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) initiated the construction of the dam to alleviate the suffering of the people and promote their well-being.

The water stored in the dam to prevent flooding can also be used during the dry season.
