Kin Kao
CentralWorld Branch
Hello.
A Taste of Authentic Thai Cuisine at Kin Khao
Kin Khao, a Thai restaurant concept dedicated to bringing delicious and hard-to-find Thai dishes to the convenience of shopping malls, has opened its latest branch at CentralWorld, 3rd floor, near the ZEN Atrium Zone. This location, conveniently situated near the BTS Skytrain entrance, offers easy access for diners.
Having achieved success with its first two branches at CentralFestival EastVille and Terminal 21, Kin Khao continues its expansion with this new location, which opened in early December 2017.
This article provides a glimpse into the restaurant's atmosphere, menu, and philosophy through a Facebook Live video featuring an interview with the owner, Khun Kan, and a firsthand dining experience.
According to the video, Chef Ton recently returned from the Michelin Guide Bangkok 2018 announcement ceremony and immediately headed to the Gin Khao restaurant. Upon checking the list of restaurants featured in the prestigious guide, it was revealed that THE LOCAL, co-owned by Chef Ton, was included on page 60 under the Bib Gourmands category. This designation signifies restaurants offering delicious and affordable cuisine, with only 17 establishments in Bangkok receiving this honor. This remarkable achievement implies that dining at Gin Khao allows patrons to savor dishes inspired by the recipes from THE LOCAL, making it an exceptional culinary experience.
The restaurant boasts a spacious interior with over a hundred seats, arranged in a way that avoids crowding and creates a sense of openness. The tables are separated into different sections, with some tucked away in corners for added privacy. Diners can choose from standard seating or comfortable sofas. The bright and clean space is decorated in blue tones, reflecting Thai culture through beautiful Thai-patterned fans designed by a national artist and embossed silver works used both as decoration and serving vessels. Whether you're dining solo, with a partner, family, or a group of friends, Kin Khao can accommodate you comfortably.
The restaurant offers a wide selection of fresh seafood, including river prawns weighing up to 3 kilograms, imported oysters from three countries, and live crabs from Surat Thani province weighing up to 1 kilogram. All seafood is clearly priced, eliminating the need to guess the cost. Additionally, the restaurant offers a variety of rare seafood, such as javelin fish and grouper, which are typically difficult to find in supermarkets.
Grilled River Prawns
This dish uses 3 large prawns, grilled to perfection. The prawns are succulent and sweet, and can be enjoyed with just the head fat or dipped in sweet fish sauce. For a spicy kick, try the seafood dipping sauce, which is perfectly balanced and not overpowering. We recommend this dish.
"Young Coconut Shoot Curry with Fresh Sea Crab"
This dish features live crabs that you can choose yourself from the front, ensuring the utmost freshness and sweetness. The young coconut shoots are fragrant, crunchy, and delightfully sweet. The curry broth is not too thick, boasting a fragrant blend of spices and a distinct spiciness. Highly recommended.
'Horse-style fruit'
A well-balanced dish with a fragrant, savory, and nutty flavor base. It is topped with various fruits such as oranges, guava, pineapple, and sweet potatoes.
'Oysters'
This dish features a selection of three different types of oysters: Fine De Claire from France, Smoky Bay from Australia, and Saint Kerber from Iceland. The oysters are plump and fresh, and the restaurant provides a variety of Thai-style accompaniments, including chili, garlic, lime, fried shallots, seafood dipping sauce, chili sauce, roasted chili paste, and sweet fish sauce. The combination of flavors is unique and delicious, and the oysters are a great way to start a meal.
'Mieng Kam' with All the Fixings
This dish features a complete set of fresh, high-quality ingredients. The accompanying dipping sauce, while slightly dry, boasts a distinct and intense flavor that effectively complements the dish. The overall standard is excellent.
'Spicy Salad with Cha-Om Leaves'
Succulent, plump shrimp are the star of this dish, their sweet, bouncy texture perfectly complemented by the crisp Cha-Om leaves. The aromatic dressing, with its balanced blend of sweet, sour, and savory notes, tantalizes the taste buds and perfectly whets the appetite. This salad is a must-try for anyone looking for a light and refreshing starter.
'Stir-fried River Prawns with Parkia Speciosa Beans'
Perfectly cooked fresh river prawns with plump, meaty Parkia speciosa beans. The stir-fry sauce is rich and flavorful, with a delightful tangy twist. A well-executed dish.
'Crispy Fried Ruby Fish with Ginger and Chili Sauce'
Diced ruby fish is deep-fried to a crispy, fluffy perfection, retaining its full fragrance and sweetness. It is then tossed in a fragrant and flavorful ginger and chili sauce that complements the fish without overpowering it. Highly recommended.
'Spicy Beef Curry'
This dish features tender, melt-in-your-mouth beef shank simmered in a fragrant and flavorful broth. The base of the broth is a spicy shrimp paste curry, which adds a unique depth of flavor and aroma. The taste is a perfect balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy, ensuring a satisfying experience for your taste buds.
Highly recommended!
'Braised Pork Ribs in Panang Curry'
The pork ribs are incredibly tender and flavorful throughout. The panang curry is fragrant and well-balanced, making for a truly delicious dish. Highly recommended.
‘Salty Boiled Meat in Coconut Milk’
Brown Rice
Brown rice is the perfect accompaniment to almost any dish. It is best served hot. We recommend
"The fish in 'Khanom Jeen Nam Ya Pla Dok Mai' is cooked in a rich and flavorful broth that strikes a perfect balance between spice and creaminess. The accompanying fresh vegetables add a refreshing contrast to the bold flavors of the dish. Currently, there's a special offer where you can check in and enjoy this dish for only 70 baht, down from its original price of 120 baht. Highly recommended!"
"Coconut milk and young coconut riceberry"
This concludes with a rare dessert that is fragrant, sweet, and creamy. It's not too sweet, and it's absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.
Refreshing herbal drinks served in large, ornate silver cups or a cold Singha beer perfectly complement the flavors of Thai cuisine.
I never thought I would see live 3-kilogram river prawns or nearly 1-kilogram crabs in a mall in the city center. But the restaurant Gin Khao, CentralWorld branch on the 3rd floor has made it possible. After a day of shopping, errands, or work, you can stop by for a relaxing atmosphere. Whether you come alone, as a couple, as a group, or to entertain important guests, I'm sure you'll be satisfied. It's a meal that features beautiful Thai food with authentic flavors. I consider it a quality restaurant in the mall because making good Thai food is not as easy as we all know, and this place does it very well. And on the day this review is published (December 10, 2017), the restaurant is also opening a new branch, Gin Khao, Central Ladprao branch. Wherever you are, try it out and see for yourself how delicious and authentic the Thai food at Gin Khao is.
Thank you very much.
