SIM

We used sim2fly from Ais. We bought the sim card when we went to Japan and it worked very well.

In India, the signal in Jaipur is good, but in Agra, it is not very playable. I don't know if other people are experiencing the same thing as us.

Currency Exchange

We exchanged money from Thailand at a rate of 0.54. Based on what we read from various sources, we exchanged money at Don Mueang Airport before going to India. We exchanged a small amount of money and brought it with us.

Travel in India

We traveled by train and a rental car (unintentionally). Yes, you read that right, unintentionally. We tried to book the train ourselves for a long time but couldn't, even after registering as a member. And heaven always seems to lend a helping hand. Just kidding, this is not the case. https://www.amperjaitravel.com Amphoe Jai. If you can't book like us, try this option. It's very fast and convenient. The booking fee is 150 baht per trip.

Time

India is 1 hour and 30 minutes behind Thailand.

Accommodation

We booked on Booking.com.

For those who have booked train tickets, we have a website for you to check train schedules. It's incredibly detailed: https://enquiry.indianrail.gov.in/mntes/

The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays. Remember everyone.

October 18, 2017 (Wednesday)

The journey from Don Mueang to Jaipur was meticulously planned. My arrival time was set for 22:50, allowing me to catch the train and reach my destination by morning. I had only Thursday to explore the Taj Mahal, so I packed my bags and headed straight for the airport. However, reality unfolded differently. I arrived at the airport at 22:50, and it was the most chaotic flight I had ever experienced. The plane was filled with Indians, with only about six Thais on board. People were ordering beer and wine, creating a lively atmosphere. After completing the immigration form, finger scan, and visa document submission, I found myself sitting around for a while. I then approached a man and asked for directions. Luckily, he called an Uber for me. I thought to myself, "There's no way I'll get scammed by an Uber in India, right?" (Or maybe I was wrong.) Off we went to the Jaipur railway station, which seemed to use the term "Railway" here. Upon arrival, I was greeted by people sleeping on the sidewalks and along the way.

This is the Diwali festival in India. Lights are decorated everywhere, firecrackers are set off, and earthen lamps are lit in various places. Why can't I win the lottery like choosing a day? There are so many people that they are overflowing in front of the train station, and of course, everyone is staring at us. How can I pretend to be invisible? Before entering the train station, scan your bags. But above all, I'm hungry. Find food that we can trust.

2A (Sleeper AC) Jaipur-Agra: India played me

The train was delayed by 7 hours and 18 minutes, and then by another 3 hours and 33 minutes. The website was incredibly detailed, but after a while, I started to feel like I was blending in. I was about to lay down on the floor and cover myself with a blanket like a tsunami victim when an Indian beauty queen whispered to me that I had booked a 2A ticket, which meant I had a waiting room to sit in. The class system is incredibly clear.

Unsure if I'm in the right room, but I'll head in and present my ticket. If they allow me entry, then I assume it's the correct one. The room offers charging stations, seating for waiting, an en-suite bathroom, and a display showing train schedules. The air conditioning is excellent, and the staff diligently sweep the floor, regardless of whether anyone is seated. Their duty is to sweep, and they sweep legs, feet, and everything in their path.

The evening atmosphere at the train station, before we had private rooms, we would rest on the floor, leaning against a pillar. The green shirt reserved, a smile on the corner of the mouth.

October 19, 2017 (Thursday)

Every morning at the Chaipura train station, people spit on the train tracks. They spit with great force and distance.

Water that everyone drinks, but we don't.

Don't rush and be afraid! We, as Thais, just stood there confused. The train hadn't even stopped completely, but people in saris were already jumping on. I give up.

The train is coming!

Wash your face, brush your teeth, and get out of the room. Time is of the essence, so don't get on the wrong train and run to catch it. (Tell yourself) Check the website again. Oh, India, India, India again! What is it like to walk around the Taj Mahal early in the morning? The train arrives around 9 am, or so I forgot! The train is very long. The peak is that I am waiting at the very end. The train only stops for a few minutes from the end to the front of the train. It is recommended to stand in the middle of the station if you do not know the order of the train.

Upon arrival, there will be a distribution of fabrics, including blankets and bed sheets.

The beds were comfortable. My sibling chose the top bunk, while I took the bottom one. This meant that I was directly facing the person in the adjacent bunk, with only a small table separating us. The initial awkward eye contact made me hesitant to sleep, especially after a sleepless night. However, exhaustion eventually won over, and I drifted off.

The train ride offers a scenic view, making it a pleasant experience without any disturbing announcements. However, the lack of announcements also poses a challenge in knowing when to disembark. To address this, I approached a staff member on the train and requested a notification upon arrival. After some initial confusion due to the language barrier, the staff member understood my request and agreed to inform me. As a precaution, I also consulted Google Maps to track our progress.

I have arrived in Agra at 13:49. I'm going to take a tuk-tuk to the hotel. The driver is driving very recklessly, and I'm a little scared. I can't record a video of it.

We will spend one night in Agra at the Kamal Hotel. Upon arriving at the hotel, I immediately jumped into the shower. The entire room, including the bathroom, was horrifying. I felt like I was being drained of energy and just wanted to sleep and die. No! I have limited time on this trip. At 4 pm, I jumped out of bed and went for a walk. I hailed a car in front of the hotel, hoping to visit just one place today. Everything I had planned fell apart!

The Baby Taj

The Baby Taj, also known as the Zinat-ul-Mausoleums, is a white marble tomb located in Agra, India. It was built by Empress Nur Jahan in memory of her father, Mirza Ghiyas Beg, between 1622 and 1628. The tomb is a smaller version of the Taj Mahal, which was built by Nur Jahan's husband, Emperor Shah Jahan.

The Baby Taj is a beautiful example of Mughal architecture. It is made of white marble and decorated with intricate carvings and inlaid precious stones. The tomb is surrounded by a garden and a pool, which reflect the building's beauty.

The Baby Taj is a popular tourist destination and is considered to be one of the most beautiful tombs in India.

You can't remember your login information, but you can still use your passport to get a discount.

Exiting Baby Taj, a small roadside market awaits just steps away.

People are buying them in large quantities. They are filled with oil and lit with candles, as mentioned above during the festival.

Hailing a taxi back to the accommodation. Looking for something to eat around here. The hotel has a rooftop, by the way. Million-dollar view. The naan bread is really cold. I guess it's been sitting out for a while.

The atmosphere at night near the hotel

This refreshing soda is perfect for a quick pick-me-up. Enjoy it on the spot and return the bottle for a refund.

The hotel where we are staying tonight.

The elderly owner of the hotel lit candles in front of the hotel gate.

According to an Indian beauty queen, there is a light and sound show at Agra Fort in the evening. I was eager to see it, so I hailed a car in front of the hotel. This time, two young men were driving, taking turns sitting next to each other. I negotiated a round-trip fare, and the two men dropped me off at Agra Fort. We agreed on a time for them to pick me up, and they drove away. When I went to buy a ticket, I was shocked to see that the show was about to end. The kind ticket seller let me walk in for free to see the last bit of the light show. It was beautiful, but it was over. I came out and waited for my two friends, who were late for our appointment. I couldn't call another car because I hadn't paid for the ride yet. After a while, they came back with beer. Hello.

Today is Diwali, the festival of lights. People light candles in front of their houses and set off firecrackers, which is believed to ward off evil spirits. (Where does this belief come from?)

A frustrated individual, desperately craving ice, finds themselves at a closed McDonald's. They speed through intersections, brakes screeching, to reach KFC. Upon arrival, they gleefully grab a box set of ice, clutching it like a precious treasure. As they return home, amidst the city's festive fireworks, their journey becomes a chaotic obstacle course. Exploding firecrackers, resembling bullets, whiz past them, creating a terrifying atmosphere. The individual fears for their life and wonders if their legs will survive the ordeal.

The hotel waiter told me before I left, "Do you know it's Diwali today?" I asked him where I could go to see the festivities, and he said I could go anywhere, it's safe! Safe? Really? I got some KFC and locked myself in my room. Fireworks went off all night, boom, boom, boom! I felt like I was sleeping in the middle of a battlefield. While I was eating KFC in my room, something black ran past the corner of my eye. A rat! A rat! The vehicle of Ganesha. I've truly arrived in India.

It was 10 pm and I was about to go to sleep when I suddenly remembered that the Taj Mahal would be closed the next day, which was Friday. My brother and I looked at each other in disbelief, realizing that we had completely forgotten about the Taj Mahal. We had already booked our train tickets back and our hotel in Jaipur, and we had rushed to Agra specifically to see the Taj Mahal. We were so frustrated that we decided to just go to sleep and figure things out in the morning.

October 20, 2017 (Friday)

We decided to stay one more night, but my sister asked to change hotels because she was afraid of the large, fat rats and lizards. Before checking out, we walked out to find a car with a driver near the hotel. We agreed on a price of 4200 rupees for the next day's trip. We didn't try to bargain because we wanted to resolve the issue quickly. We traveled from Agra to Jaipur and stopped at two places along the way. We don't know if the price was fair, but we figured it was acceptable if we split it in half. We emailed the hotel in Jaipur to postpone our check-in date, but we had to pay for two full nights. We ended up leaving the luxury hotel. After that, we walked around looking for a new hotel near the old one, the Shahjahan & Maharaja Hotel. We found this hotel on Agoda, but we walked in. The location was good because it was very close to the Taj Mahal. We got a new room that wasn't better than the previous one. We were disappointed!

Train tickets in India can be refunded, but we may not have received a full refund because we canceled close to the departure time.

Next, I started exploring the city. I got a map from the car rental agency, and the hotel called a tuk-tuk to take me wherever I wanted to go. The driver was very patient and willing to take me anywhere I asked, for a price that was up to me. The only scary part was that he didn't tell me the price beforehand. We started from...

The translation of "Agra Fort" is "Fort d'Agra".

The entrance fee is 30 rupees. If you show your passport, you can get a discounted rate for Indian citizens. Surprisingly, even if the line for Indian citizens is long, they are allowed to cut in line to buy tickets without waiting. The people in line even smile and willingly let them cut in. Anything can happen in this country.

The sheer scale of the place is overwhelming, making you feel incredibly small. The architecture is truly stunning, and the vastness of the space is breathtaking. As you enter, guides will try to sell you things, but stay strong and resist their attempts. Remember, you'll save money and avoid any potential misunderstandings due to the language barrier.

After leaving the temple, we felt hungry and asked the driver to take us to a shopping mall. The mall seemed to be on the verge of closing down soon. Indian people were walking in, all heading to the upper floor. They formed a long queue. It turned out that they were queuing to watch a movie in the mall. We were excited to see this. We stopped by McDonald's and, feeling thirsty, I ordered two glasses of iced soft drinks with lots of ice. The McDonald's here was incredibly delicious. After that, we went shopping for an hour, and the driver waited for us without complaint. We then continued our journey.

Based on our map, we marked Mariam's tomb as a point of interest. However, upon arrival, it appeared unremarkable and the entrance fee seemed excessive. Therefore, we decided to skip it.

Returning to Sikandara, which is nearby.

The grand entrance is impressive. Personally, I like the place because it's the perfect size for both people and the venue.

Book a white shirt. I love him, tell him. Above all, what we, as women, must succumb to is the posing of Indian men for photos.

Photography is prohibited inside. You'll have to experience it yourself.

Moonlight Garden

Admission fee is 15 rupees. Show your Thai passport to get a discount. This is a public park located opposite the back of the Taj Mahal. We define this place as follows:

The original text is in Thai and translates to:

"Far is like near, near is like far. To know what we mean, you have to find the answer in real places."

This is a metaphorical statement that suggests that our perception of distance can be subjective and that what seems far away can actually be close, and vice versa. The speaker encourages the listener to explore real places to gain a deeper understanding of this concept.

Here is a possible translation in a more formal academic style:

"The perception of distance is often subjective, with what appears far away sometimes being surprisingly close, and vice versa. To truly understand this concept, one must engage in direct observation and exploration of real-world environments."

This translation maintains the original meaning while using more formal language and avoiding personal pronouns. It also emphasizes the importance of critical analysis and evidence-based claims.

As I sat and watched Touch, I opened Google to read about it while looking at Touch. The wind was blowing gently, the sun was setting, and my tears were flowing. I was so engrossed in the moment.

After finishing our visit, we told the driver that we wanted to buy a saree. He took us to four different shops, which were likely places he frequently brings tourists to in exchange for a commission. The salesmanship at these shops was on par with what we experienced in Japan, and we were tempted to applaud after each presentation. However, both my sister and I were discouraged because each shop only sold sarees that required tailoring. As we passed another shop, we asked the driver to stop. This was a shop we chose ourselves, and we finally found a saree to wear to the Taj Mahal for 1500 rupees. After much bargaining, we were satisfied with the quality of the fabric. As we left the shop, the owner called the driver over to collect his commission. I guess since I chose this shop myself, he should give me a cut.

Revisit the light and sound show at Agra font

If we remember correctly, the show started at 7:00 PM and the ticket price was 150 rupees. When we bought the tickets, there was an Indian woman standing at the ticket booth, shouting and trying to tell the tourists something. We vaguely heard her, and our brother told us not to pay attention to her. However, once we entered the show, we wanted to tell everyone: "Don't go!" No, actually, "Don't even think about going!" Everything was terrible. It was so dark that we could barely see anything. Almost all the Indian people left. At this point, we understood what the Indian woman who was shouting meant. We have to thank her for trying to tell everyone not to go because it was not good.

The original text describes a positive experience with a tuk-tuk driver in Thailand. The author mentions paying 900 rupees for the service from 10:00 to 21:00, which they consider a bit expensive. However, they praise the driver's service and willingness to look after their belongings while they were sightseeing. The author concludes by expressing their appreciation for the driver's kindness and professionalism.

Here's a more formal and academic translation:

The author recounts a positive experience with a tuk-tuk driver in Thailand. They paid 900 rupees for the service, which lasted from 10:00 to 21:00. While acknowledging the expense, the author commends the driver's service and willingness to safeguard their belongings during their sightseeing. The author concludes by expressing their gratitude for the driver's kindness and professionalism.

The Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is a white marble mausoleum located in Agra, India. It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is widely recognized as one of the most beautiful buildings in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Show your Thai passport, 530 rupees. You will receive a bottle of water and a shoe bag. Scan your bags before entering. No food allowed.

Waking up early in the morning to visit the Taj Mahal, a dream come true. Wearing a beautiful saree, I walked out of the room, not knowing where my confidence came from. I secretly remembered how to wear it from the owner of the shop who helped me try it on. The hotel was very close, within walking distance. When I arrived, there were hundreds of thousands of people (exaggerating). A guide offered his services, but I declined. As I walked, I saw the long queue. Oh my, the queue was so long that even if I had arrived at 10 am, I wouldn't have made it. It's a festival, so it's expected. I walked back and called the same guide. I bargained for 500 rupees for two people. I bought comfort and time. We were late, but with a guide, we could walk right in. With a guide, everything seemed easier.

The guide continued their explanation. Did they ask if you understood beforehand?

The translation of "หันหลังกลับไปก็จะเจอมุมนี้" is:

"Turn around and you will find this corner."

Are you captivated?

It was almost 10 am, and I hurriedly carried my sari and walked back to the hotel. The car had arrived, so I quickly went up to get my luggage. The hotel's check-out time was 10 am. I met the driver just in time. Before leaving, I told the driver that I was hungry and asked him to take me to McDonald's. He ignored me and said that it was not on his way and that he would go this way. I had not eaten anything since morning except water. I could have skipped the meal, but the journey would take 4-5 hours. Sometimes the driver seemed friendly, but sometimes his face was very fierce. The first place we stopped was…

Fatehpur Sikri

On the way back, I came across a cart selling drinks.

The following is a translation of the Thai text:

"Shaved ice is very delicious. I dare you to try it."

The water doesn't dare to challenge me. Ahhhhh, let go.

Upon returning to the car, the driver became agitated once again, accusing us of being late and expressing extreme dissatisfaction. She then informed us that we would not be able to reach our next destination, Chand Baori, as it closed at 4 pm and it would take three hours to get there. We were extremely disappointed as we were eager to visit the stepwell. However, my brother advised us not to believe her, as he had read that most attractions in India close after sunset. We searched on Google and found a website stating that Chand Baori closed at 6 pm. We showed the website and map to the driver, who remained silent. We realized that we had been misled. The driver then informed us that she needed to return home as it was getting late and she had not seen anything yet. Her voice was filled with regret, and tears welled up in her eyes. Finally, she reluctantly agreed to take us, but her expression betrayed her lack of enthusiasm. As we were about to leave, she announced that she was hungry and needed to stop for food. We were frustrated as she had not mentioned this earlier. We ended up waiting in the car while she ate.

Chand Baori

Free entry, this is also very impressive, worthy of the fight.

Jumping into the water is prohibited. An elderly security guard will prevent you from doing so.

We arrived at the hotel safely around 9-10 pm, I can't remember exactly. Tonight we are staying at the Hotel Gandharva By Peppermint, sleeping in Jaipur for 1 night but having to pay for 2. Cut to the heavenly hotel.

First meal

October 22, 2017 (Sunday)

Today, I am returning home on AirAsia flight FD131 at 23:35. I still have time to explore Jaipur. I woke up early this morning and visited the city before checking out of my hotel. I had a hearty breakfast at the hotel to save money. I have left my luggage at the hotel and am now ready to go.

The most popular menu item with the highest level of engagement is the salted boiled egg.

Today, we will rent a tuk-tuk to visit 3 places and then go shopping. I haven't bought anything yet, but I heard the market here is amazing. We hailed a tuk-tuk and tried to communicate with the driver, but it was difficult. He seemed confused and couldn't stay still, constantly fidgeting. The first place we asked him to take us was…

House of Victory

Jai Mahal literally translates to "House of Victory" in Hindi.

Is this really Jai Mahal? Did she lead us the right way? There are also costumes for rent here. I guess they are traditional costumes.

Amber Fort

Free entry, elephant ride 1100 rupees, expensive. You can walk if you want, but if you want to ride an elephant, we'll show you the way. Walk past the entrance to Amber Fort, follow the road to the side, and when you get tired, turn left. You'll see them! Both jeeps (enter from the back) and elephants.

Magnificent

You see that top floor? Where people are standing? You need to buy an entrance ticket to go up.

It feels like seeing the Great Wall of China.

A henna tattoo artist is located near the entrance for 20 rupees. However, it is not recommended to get a tattoo from them as it may cause irritation and itching. If you are interested in getting a henna tattoo, it is suggested to visit the market where a skilled artist is available.

Palace of Winds

If I remember correctly, the entrance fee was 200 rupees. We did not enter.

The back is yellow, and the front is a different color.

Front

The night is beautifully lit, and we stayed in this area until nightfall.

Walk straight ahead for a bit and you will find the City Palace. The entrance fee is 500 rupees. We asked twice if there was a discount for passport holders, but they said no. Since we were running low on money, hadn't done any shopping yet, and were tired of walking, we decided to skip the palace. There are shops selling things all along the way, and the tourist attractions are close together. So, like any typical woman, I decided to stop sightseeing and head straight for the market. I had to get something to take home with me!

Here is the translation of the text:

The shop is great. Inside, they sell snacks, chocolate, and drinks. There's also a restaurant inside. You order what you want, pay for it, and then get a bill to wait for your food. There are also tables in the shop where you can stand and eat. It's very stylish.

The Cold coffee+Ice Cream was so delicious that I forgot to take a picture. It was almost gone by the time I remembered. It costs 130 rupees.

Another glass, please. It's delicious and smooth. I forgot to take a picture again. This menu is Banana Lassi 90 rupees.

The final stop was the Himalaya store on Google Maps. We walked around the architecture, which was tiring, and we were about to die. But we ended up shopping for 7 hours. Where did our energy come from? We went to every intersection, carrying our bags, which wasn't a problem. We crossed the street calmly. Some people say that crossing the street here is difficult, but we don't think so. It's more difficult in Thailand because cars in Thailand don't stop for you. We walked and squeezed past cars, enjoying ourselves. We bargained until we were satisfied, getting more than 50% off. We got earrings for 150 rupees. The price we had researched was 50 rupees, which is a fairly standard price for anyone who doesn't know. We were super happy. We got a bedspread for 1,250 rupees. We offered 800 rupees, but they didn't accept it. When we said we wouldn't take it, they asked how much we wanted. We said we wouldn't take it, so we told them that our sister wouldn't let us take it. It was a very ordinary cloth. They asked again how much we wanted. We said 500 rupees. They gave it to us! 1,250 rupees down to 500 rupees, plus the shopkeeper's tears. They must hate these two women. It felt like they were selling it regardless of the profit, just to make a sale. We left the market at 9 pm and went back to the hotel to get our bags. We asked the price of a taxi from the hotel to the airport. It was 900 rupees. It was so expensive. We called Uber instead. It was fast and cheap. The airport here has several scanning steps. We scanned and scanned again. We went home, lively as always. The flight was lively. We ordered wine and beer and chatted. We were so thirsty for both food and ice-cold water and soda. I was a little annoyed with AirAsia before the trip. The airline had informed us that they were changing the menu and canceling some items, including the items we had ordered. When we first ordered, we chose food with soda. When we called to change it, we confirmed that it was soda, right? I was so happy that I would be able to drink soda and ice-cold water on the plane. But I got plain water instead! What is this? My words and the hand that clicked the mouse must have gone in opposite directions, right? Look, I'm annoyed because I didn't get soda. Being upset about food is a big deal.

I was extremely hungry, both for the food I had pre-ordered and for the carbonated drinks I had to buy in a fit of pique. There was one more delicious item that I ordered for both the outbound and return trips: the Gazpacho soup, which was absolutely phenomenal and incredibly flavorful.

India

Contrary to popular belief, India is not as intimidating as it is often portrayed. It is a country with cheerful and happy people who have an immense love for animals and selling, even surpassing Japan in this regard. The people seem determined and driven to achieve their goals, evident in the way they navigate through traffic, be it buses, cars, rickshaws, or motorcycles. Everyone seems to be on a mission, undeterred by obstacles, even if it means colliding with them. Pedestrians are oblivious to their surroundings, unconcerned about the weather or any potential dangers, seamlessly blending in with the chaotic mix of vehicles, roads, animals, and nature. Crossing the street is surprisingly easy; simply walk across, and the vehicles will avoid you. The trains are incredibly long, so it's advisable to stand in the middle to avoid tiring yourself out while running. The trains don't stop completely, so be prepared to jump on quickly. Booking a more expensive ticket grants you access to a bathroom and an air-conditioned waiting room, offering a luxurious experience fit for royalty. The most common phrases you'll hear are "hi madam," "madam," "madam," "ni hao," and "my shop." However, the words that will become ingrained in your vocabulary are "no," "thank you," and "discount." The feelings India evokes are overwhelming, a mixture of awe, surprise, and gratitude. The Thai passport significantly reduces expenses. See you again! Finally, I must express my admiration for the saree-clad women who effortlessly jump onto the trains, and the men who sleep as if a tsunami has just swept them away. Oh, and there are plenty of handsome Indian men around.

One of the most striking sights in India is the ubiquitous presence of motorcycles, affectionately known as "motos" or "bikes." These two-wheeled vehicles are a common mode of transportation for both men and women, offering a unique glimpse into Indian culture. Men, often sporting sharp features and sunglasses, navigate the bustling streets with a confident swagger, while women, clad in vibrant sarees, gracefully hop onto the back, their faces shielded from the sun. The sight evokes scenes from classic Bollywood films, where the hero whisks the heroine away on a romantic adventure, her saree billowing in the wind as the music swells. The fashion sense of Indian women is particularly noteworthy, with their sarees often coordinated with matching bangles, creating a stunning visual display.
