The Ghost of Mae Nak

This is the English translation of "พี่มากพระโขนง," the Thai title of a popular 2013 horror-comedy film.

The film's title directly translates to "พี่มาก" (Brother Mak) and "พระโขนง" (Phra Khanong), which is the name of the district in Bangkok where the story takes place. However, the full title also carries cultural significance, referencing the legend of Mae Nak Phra Khanong, a famous Thai ghost story.

Therefore, translating the title as "The Ghost of Mae Nak" captures both the literal meaning and the cultural context of the film.

The Thai phrase "รัก 7 ปีดี 7 หน" translates to "Love is good for 7 years, bad for 7 years" in English. This proverb suggests that the intensity and quality of love fluctuate over time, with periods of happiness and contentment followed by periods of difficulty and conflict.

It is important to note that this is a proverb and not a universal truth. Every relationship is unique and experiences its own ups and downs.
