Waking up in Okinawa

The second day in Okinawa began with a late breakfast on the balcony after a long night of travel and sightseeing. The previous day's journey had started at 2 am and lasted until 8 am, followed by a full day of exploration until 10 pm. Exhausted but excited, I opted for a simple breakfast of pastries, milk, and fresh coffee from the Family Mart convenience store across from my accommodation.

One of the things I appreciate most about Japan is the abundance of delicious and readily available food options, even in convenience stores.

After a satisfying meal, we hurried to get our car to head to the coast for whale watching. Upon reaching the car, which had been parked overnight in front of a convenience store, we found a note stuck to the rear window. We couldn't decipher the writing, but we knew we must have violated some rule. We took the note inside and asked an employee, who informed us that parking was reserved for customers. We cheekily replied that we had been customers since the previous night. They didn't seem to mind, and we claimed ignorance of the parking restriction. Thankfully, nothing further transpired. It was certainly preferable to parking on the street and risking a hefty fine of 20,000 yen.

We then drove to SEASIR MARINE, where I had booked online to see Humpback whales from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm. The cost was approximately 1,000 Thai baht per person.

This was another life experience. However, many people on the boat, including myself, got seasick quite badly. We threw up four times, emptying our stomachs completely.

Disembarking at noon, I felt the effects of seasickness and had already vomited up my breakfast. Feeling hungry, I had a place in mind for a scenic drive and a delicious meal. SENAGA ISLAND, a short drive away, is a small island just off the coast of Naha City. Crossing the bridge, we arrived at UMIKAJI TERRACE, a newly built town with several beautiful shops and restaurants. I couldn't help but think it was reminiscent of the Greek island of SANTORINI.

This island is a beautiful spot to watch the sunset... but today it's too cloudy. We won't wait until the evening... let's drive to Naha City and go for a walk. Oh, this island is near the airport. If you like to watch airplanes take off and land up close, you can come here and watch them.

After strolling around the city for a while, I went back to my accommodation for a nap and then came down to have dinner with my friends. As dusk approached, we drove to TOMARI PORT to capture the city lights. The port is only two kilometers away from our accommodation. We then returned to the Kokusai Dori district for some shopping. After that, we went to bed and prepared to pack our bags for our trip to the central and northern parts of the island the next day. Finally, here are some pictures of the dinner we had near our accommodation. There are many restaurants in the area, so if you are staying near Kokusai Dori, you will have plenty of options to choose from.
