Day Two in Belgium: Exploring Lier and its World Heritage Site

The second day in Belgium began with a focus on the western side, specifically the city of Ghent. However, a detour to the east, to the small town of Lier, was a must. Located near Mechelen, Lier boasts a World Heritage Site: the Zimmer Tower. This historic landmark was not the only attraction in this charming town. Lier's picturesque canal-side houses and relaxed atmosphere made it a delightful place to explore. Situated just 20 kilometers from Mechelen, Lier offered a unique opportunity to capture stunning aerial views with a drone.

Taking a walk in the city in the late morning, we continued our journey to the big city of Antwerp, a distance of only 20 kilometers. The drive was not too tiring, but once we entered the city center, the stress of driving began. There were many cars and traffic lights, and we had to be careful. The passenger in the front seat, in addition to being a navigator, had to watch out for cars on the side and the sidewalk, and constantly warn us to stay in the right lane. Sometimes we accidentally drifted to the left, haha.

Upon arriving in Antwerp before noon, I was unable to check into my accommodation immediately. Therefore, I had to circle around to find a paid parking spot and explore the city on foot. This proved to be a straightforward process.

After securing a parking spot near the entrance, I pressed the button to obtain a ticket. When it was time to leave, I inserted the ticket into the payment machine and paid the corresponding fee. I then received a receipt.

Finally, I drove through the exit lane, inserting the receipt into the designated slot. The barrier lifted, and I was able to exit the parking lot.

Overall, the process was simple and efficient.

Let's take a walk in Antwerp. A must-see is the city's train station, considered the most beautiful in Belgium.

Strolling through the city until reaching the port.

This bustling metropolis teems with life. While I find it overwhelming, many may appreciate its vibrant energy and rapid pace.

I spent the night here... In the evening, I was unable to capture the nighttime lights due to the rain... This forced me to go to bed early.
