Ranong... Once you're lost, you're lost forever.
Where should I go in Ranong?
"If it's your first time in Ranong, you absolutely have to visit Koh Phayam!"
Many people have said, "Okay, let's go!"
Let's go to the island!
Upon arrival, we found ourselves disoriented and confused at the bus station, having arrived earlier than anticipated. Regaining our senses, we immediately sought directions to the pier. Glancing around, we spotted an uncle at a shop within the station and approached him. He kindly offered guidance and even escorted us to the boarding point (although we had previously spoken with him, he had insisted on a private ride, which we declined).
Thanks to our uncle who took us there, we didn't have to rent a car, but each paid 40 baht.
As soon as we agreed, the car took off immediately. / Cut to our friends rummaging through their bags, applying cream, and lacing their shoes. They had to run to catch the car with their luggage, fearing to inconvenience the other passengers who were already waiting in the car.
And that's how our hilarious and chaotic trip began, right from the moment we set foot in Ranong!
We arrived at the pier before dawn and waited for the ferry. We had booked the 7:30 am express boat. When it was time, a songthaew picked us up and took us to the inner pier, as the tide was low and the boat couldn't dock at the main pier.
Ferries to Koh Phayam are operated by various companies, including mail boats, speedboats, and express boats. Prices vary depending on the travel time.
Around 7 am, a songthaew picked me up to take me to the boat. On the way, I chatted non-stop with the driver, who was very friendly.
The songthaews here are incredibly cool, as you might already know. Their vibrant colors and vintage, slightly antique design make them a unique symbol of Ranong.
We spent one day on Koh Phayam, exploring the island by motorbike.
We believe this is the easiest way to travel around Koh Phayam. There are many motorbike rental shops, just a short walk from the pier. You'll find them opposite the post office.

On the island, we mainly drove motorcycles around, stopping for food whenever we were hungry. We didn't plan anything at all. If you come to Koh Phayam, I highly recommend visiting the following places:
- Hin Ta Lu, Ao Khao Kwai, is considered a landmark of the island. This beach is suitable for swimming. The water is clear. If you go in the late morning, the water will be low, making it easy to walk to Hin Ta Lu. However, if you go before noon, you may have to wade through the water, but it is still walkable as the water is not too deep.
- Hippy Bar is a popular spot, but we recommend it for its unique charm. The bar, shaped like a large ship made of scrap wood, stands out on the beach.
- Cha-Chai Home, a health-conscious restaurant with an eco-friendly concept, uses reusable products and does not offer plastic straws in its beverage menu. If you need a straw, the restaurant recommends using a bamboo straw. The food is made with natural and organic ingredients, including local produce and ingredients grown exclusively in Thailand. The restaurant serves homemade dishes with original recipes. We did not try the main dishes created by the restaurant, but we had a light snack with homemade drinks and whole-grain bread.

The sentence is already in English and does not require translation.
The island offers a wide range of activities, and what we have shared here is just a glimpse. If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle and unwind on an island for a night or two, Koh Phayam is definitely worth considering.
The event has concluded. Feel free to reach out to us for inquiries or recommendations on exciting places to visit.
