Discover the newly opened island in the Burmese Sea, Bruer Island, a must-visit for diving enthusiasts. This underwater paradise boasts pristine coral reefs, vibrant sea anemones, and an abundance of marine life, from small fish to majestic giants. Moreover, the island's beaches offer soft, powdery sand, perfect for relaxation and rejuvenation.
Bruer Island, known as "Saung Guat" in Burmese, meaning "Burmese harp," resembles a harp when viewed from above.
The unique feature of Breuer Island, unlike any other among the hundreds of islands in Burma, is its parallel beaches. The two beaches have different seawater colors: one side is blue, the other is green. Both beaches are only a few meters apart, hence the name "Twin Beach".
This island is incredibly fertile, with freshwater sources available year-round. Three natural waterfalls provide a constant supply of water. During our trip, we spent a night on the island, staying at the Twin Beach Mergui Island Resort, which offers beachfront tent accommodations. Let's explore this island together and see what it has to offer.
To visit Koh Bruer, you must book a tour with Seastar Ranong, the only company that offers trips to this stunning island.

Travel
To reach our destination, we must board a ship at the Seastar Pier in Kiang Le, Ranong Province.
Two airlines operate on this route: NokAir and Air Asia. For this trip, we chose to fly with NokAir.
Alternatively, for those who prefer not to fly, there are several bus companies offering services.
Both Chok Anan, Nimit Tour, and Sombut Tour offer VIP buses with reclining seats, blankets, and a comfortable ride for around 627 baht.
The journey from Bangkok to Ranong takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes by plane. Upon arrival at Ranong Airport, a pre-booked van from Seastar will be waiting to transport you to your accommodation. The chosen resort, Phutara Resort, is conveniently located near the pier for the next day's trip. The resort offers a variety of room options at affordable prices and is situated in a peaceful area slightly outside the city center.
For dinner tonight, we ordered a simple meal from the hotel's restaurant. The food was delicious and reasonably priced.
The next morning, a Seastar van will pick you up at your hotel and take you to the Seastar Keng Le pier. Upon arrival at the pier, a breakfast of rice porridge, sausages, and bread will be served. After breakfast, the guide will gather everyone together to explain the trip details, rules, and how to use the diving equipment before departure.
From the pier, it takes about 10 minutes to reach the border crossing point. We need to stop here to submit our documents for border clearance. We can wait on the boat while the officials process our documents. It takes some time to get the immigration stamps. You can take photos while you wait.
After about an hour's boat ride, we arrived at our first diving spot, **Yanshe Island**, the largest island in Myanmar. The underwater world here is teeming with fish and coral, including staghorn coral, boulder coral, brain coral, and lettuce coral. There are also four species of adorable clownfish: the ocellaris clownfish, the percula clownfish, the maroon clownfish, and the black-and-white clownfish, which are rare to find but abundant in Myanmar. They live together in family groups. For those who are not experienced divers, don't worry! Life jackets are provided, and experienced guides will accompany you throughout the trip. We loved this spot so much that we couldn't help but take a ton of photos of the abundant fish.

The Enchanting Underwater Garden of Flower Island
Our second dive site was the captivating Flower Island, aptly named for its vibrant underwater meadows of swaying sea anemones. Descending into this aquatic paradise, we were greeted by a kaleidoscope of colors. The anemones, with their pulsating hues of purple and yellow, created a mesmerizing spectacle.
Amidst this floral wonderland, we encountered the playful clownfish, better known as Nemo, along with a myriad of other small fish species. Their graceful movements and vibrant colors transformed the scene into a living aquarium.

After two morning dives, the boat will take you to Bruer Island, where you will be staying for this trip. This island also serves as the lunch spot for both one-day trip and overnight stay customers. Everyone will enjoy the same buffet lunch of Thai dishes, including clear soup, stir-fried vegetables, stir-fried basil, fried fish, and shrimp paste chili dip. Don't miss the chili dip here, it's truly exceptional!
After a satisfying lunch, your guide will take you to collect your tent keys and help you store your belongings in your designated tent. The island's accommodations consist of beachfront tents raised on platforms, offering a close-up view of the stunning ocean. Each tent is equipped with a fan and electricity. Please note that there is no mobile phone signal on the island, making it ideal for those seeking tranquility and a break from social media. Embrace the opportunity to disconnect and immerse yourself in the island's serene atmosphere, allowing your body to recharge for the challenges ahead. You'll return feeling refreshed and ready to tackle your workload with renewed vigor.

During our stay on the island, we enjoyed a variety of activities, including kayaking, swimming, and taking photos. The island offered numerous photo opportunities, with swings hanging from trees and hammocks for relaxation. We were fortunate to experience excellent weather, with bright sunshine and crystal-clear turquoise waters. The soft, fine sand and the lack of crowds made the island an ideal place for a truly relaxing getaway.

Short Video Atmosphere
For those who haven't had enough of diving, there's another dive spot off the beach of Bruer Island that's not too far away. You'll find giant cuttlefish, lionfish, and a variety of other fish, both large and small. I guarantee you'll have a great time diving. We didn't get out of the water until almost sunset. After showering and changing, we went to wait for dinner. (The shower and toilet facilities are shared, but there are enough for the number of tourists. I forgot to take a picture, but I can tell you that they were very clean and had large bottles of shampoo and shower gel in every room. There were also hairdryers available.)
The island boasts a breathtaking sunset viewpoint within easy walking distance, offering a romantic ambiance.
It's dinner time. Tonight's menu is a seafood buffet, including shrimp, squid, shellfish, fish, and spicy seafood dipping sauce. It's served with fried rice, making for a very satisfying meal. At night, for those who enjoy stargazing, the stars here are truly magnificent. However, we didn't take any pictures because we were too busy partying with friends.
A new day dawns with a stunning ocean view. After a relaxing morning, hunger pangs set in. Let's explore the breakfast options, which include steaming hot congee, stir-fried morning glory, and crispy fried Chinese sausage. A delicious way to start the day!
After breakfast, we went for a walk on the beach and took some photos. As I mentioned before, there are plenty of photo spots here, so there's no need to fight for space. Everyone has their own corner, which is great. Plus, in front of the tent we stayed in (tent number 2), there's a table by the beach. Sipping coffee while enjoying the sea view is pretty awesome.

For those who plan to go diving in the morning, the guide will call you to gather. It is highly recommended not to miss this spot because it is incredibly beautiful and only **Seastar** tours take you there. Other tours do not go there. This diving spot is called **South Bruer Island**, which is not far from the beach where we are staying. It takes about 15 minutes by boat to reach the island. The underwater world here is full of diverse and dense coral reefs. The water is relatively shallow, allowing you to see the fish and coral up close.
After our final dive at South Bruer, we showered, packed up our tents, and enjoyed a buffet lunch similar to the one we had on the first day.

After lunch, we have about an hour to relax on the island. The guide will take us to see the ancient tree roots, which are said to be the roots of a large tree that spread throughout the island. If you want to see it, you can follow the guide. It's not a long walk.

It's time to return. The staff will take our luggage to the boat.
The journey from the island to the Ranong pier takes approximately one hour. Before returning, the boat will make a brief stop at Koh Song to stamp your entry permit.
**Note:** The order of the three dive sites may vary on certain days due to tidal conditions, as advised by the guide.
Upon arrival at the Seastar pier, refreshments will be provided, including snacks and beverages.
If you're still hungry after your boat trip, there's a great restaurant called "Kieng Lay" near the pier. In the evenings, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the food is delicious. I highly recommend the spicy curry, which has a rich and flavorful broth. Everything else on the menu is equally delicious.

The Seastar Ranong van then took us to our hotel, the Tinidee. The hotel has a hot spring pool for guests to relax in, as well as a full range of services, including massage, spa, and a restaurant. In addition to the hotel's hot spring pool, which guests can use for free, the hotel also offers a free shuttle service to the Raksa Warin Hot Spring.
The trip to the Burmese sea was a success, and it was easy for anyone to get there. We loved it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a new beach destination. The underwater world here is still very abundant, and the island is quiet, peaceful, and the water is clear. The diving spots are all beautiful. Don't miss it if you love the sea.
