A Seaside Escape: Exploring a Tranquil Resort near Bangsaen Beach
As the summer heat intensifies, the allure of a refreshing escape becomes irresistible. While waterfalls often beckon during this season, their allure can be dampened by the scarcity of water. This time, a seaside retreat near Bangkok seemed like the perfect solution to combat the scorching temperatures. However, fate had other plans, as heavy rain greeted us on the day of our trip, following a prolonged period of scorching heat.
Undeterred, we embarked on a journey to explore the scenic shores of Bangsaen Beach. A short drive along the Burapha Withi Expressway led us to Chonburi, where we turned around at Nong Mon Market, approximately 7 kilometers away. After passing the 12th Air Defense Battalion, we continued for another kilometer before turning left into Sukhumvit Soi 22. As we approached the end of the lane, a tranquil haven emerged on our right: Sikkhara Place Resort.
The resort's pale yellow facade exuded a sense of serenity, reminiscent of a peaceful sanctuary. Ample parking space and 24-hour security ensured a comfortable and secure stay.
Junior Suite
After checking in, the staff escorted me to my room, a 50-square-meter Junior Suite located on the corner of the fourth floor. Upon entering, I was surprised to find the bed positioned in the center of the room, facing the balcony. I cautiously opened the sliding glass door, but there was nothing unusual. The balcony featured an open-air bathtub, perfect for soaking while enjoying the view. The opposite side of the balcony faced the rooms of another building, offering a view of the pool below. The sea view was slightly to the left. The room's design may have been the reason for the bed's placement. The room was well-equipped with amenities, and the products provided were of high quality.
Deluxe Room
After exploring my own room, the staff took me on a tour of the other rooms in the resort. Since I was the only guest staying there that day (I usually travel on weekdays), the next room we visited was the Deluxe room, which is the smallest room in the resort at 30 square meters. Despite its size, it was still quite charming and spacious enough for two people. All rooms in the resort are equipped with the same amenities.
Deluxe Pool Access Room
This deluxe room is larger than the others, measuring 35 square meters. It can accommodate three guests with an extra bed and features a private pool on the balcony. Guests can simply slide open the door and jump into the water.
Grand Family Sea View Room
This room is 60 square meters, slightly larger than the others, and is designed for families with children. It features a mezzanine level that serves as a children's room, and the balcony offers stunning sea views.
Beach Front Villa
This beachfront room is 120 square meters and features a separate living room and bedroom. The balcony overlooks the beach, allowing guests to relax on the sun loungers and enjoy the sea breeze. The balcony also has a small private pool.
Grand Beach Front Villa
The largest suite, measuring up to 250 square meters, is adjacent to the Beach Front room and shares a private beach area. The ground floor features a spacious living area and dining corner, while the second floor houses a bedroom with a balcony offering stunning views. The beach in front allows for leisurely walks during low tide, especially during the picturesque sunsets. However, the sky was overcast on the day of our visit.
Chef de plago Restaurant
The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring Thai, European, Italian, Japanese, and various fusion dishes. Additionally, halal options are available. That evening, I planned to enjoy a meal by the beach while watching the sunset. However, the weather had other plans. After a morning of rain, the sky remained overcast, forcing me to abandon my plan and retreat to the restaurant's interior. Feeling disappointed, I ordered a Blue Sapphire Cocktail to forget about the weather. The smooth and refreshing taste was not quite my usual preference, but it did the trick. Next, I opted for a non-alcoholic beverage called Mango Sticky Rice. Despite the literal translation, the drink did not contain actual sticky rice. Instead, it was a blended concoction with a pleasant mango flavor.
The drinks are gone, let's try some savory dishes. We'll go straight to breakfast, which includes hot pan sushi, pork tenderloin steak, and seafood hor mok. Stir-fried basil pork with fried egg, American breakfast. Overall, I think the chef here has good cooking skills, especially the seafood hor mok, which has a very rich flavor. As for the stir-fried basil, you can tell that it's different from other restaurants.
Let's take a look at the restaurant's atmosphere. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, with a relaxed ambiance. The staff is attentive and takes good care of the customers. There is also relaxing music playing while you eat.
Morning and evening beaches
The sun had already dipped below the horizon, leaving the sky a dull gray. Despite the lack of a spectacular sunset, the atmosphere was incredibly romantic. The beach was deserted, and the gentle sea breeze carried the scent of salt. Sipping a drink and taking in the view was enough to make anyone feel content.
The morning atmosphere was peaceful, with the tide at its highest point. As I strolled along the beach, I noticed countless tiny shells scattered across the sand. Memories of the past flooded back, reminding me of the numerous vendors selling pickled baby clams, similar to these tiny shells, during my previous visits to Bangsaen. Despite the passage of time, it became clear that Bangsaen has always been abundant in shellfish. Unable to resist the allure of the emerald-green seawater, I changed into my swimsuit and took a refreshing dip, reminiscing about the past.
Swimming pool
After diving and swimming in the waves in front of the beach, I headed to the resort's swimming pool. Since I was the only guest staying in the entire resort, I had the pool all to myself and could enjoy swimming without any worries.
Ambiance within the resort
After checking out of our room, we captured some final moments of the resort's atmosphere. The resort offers a tranquil environment, perfect for relaxation, and is conveniently located near the Bangsaen tourist area. We will provide updates on nearby attractions in a separate post, as there are numerous options to explore in the vicinity.
