During the upcoming summer break, I decided to spend time with my family by taking my grandchildren on a trip to cool off in Pattaya. However, the beaches were packed with people, especially during the weekends. The activities were limited to swimming, eating, and napping under beach umbrellas. While searching for alternative destinations in Pattaya, I stumbled upon Ramayana Water Park. Coincidentally, it was summer holiday season, and they were offering online promotional discounts, as they do every year.

Ramayana Water Park is located on Khao Chi Chan, next to Silver Lake Vineyard. It takes about half an hour to drive from Central Pattaya, where we stopped for breakfast. We arrived at the water park around 10:30 am, but forgot that this is Pattaya and the traffic on weekends is similar to Bangkok. By the time we arrived, it was already past 11:00 am. After sorting out the entrance tickets, we received a wristband to top up money. To use it, simply scan the QR code on the wristband at the service point. At the entrance of the water park, there are rules and regulations, dress codes, and prohibitions to be read. After reading, we were ready to go.

The Ramayana Water Park is designed with an oriental theme, resembling a lost ancient city. It is unclear whether this city is Lanka from the Ramayana epic. The park's map clearly indicates your location, ensuring you won't get lost despite its vast 100-acre size. As I was visiting with my mother, I opted for a private cabana for the day, which cost 1,200 baht for 4-8 people. Renting a cabana grants you VIP status, allowing you to wait in an air-conditioned lounge while the staff takes care of everything, including wristbands, lockers, towels, and a private bathroom, all included in the cabana price. After settling into our cabana, we began exploring the water park's various attractions, starting from the left and working our way around.

Cabana Rental Fees (Full Day)

| Cabana Size | Capacity | Price | |---|---|---| | Small | 2-4 people | 700 THB | | Medium | 4-8 people | 1,200 THB | | Large | 8-12 people | 1,900 THB |

**Kids' Aqua Splash** is a children's zone featuring water spray and water squirting equipment, guaranteed to delight young visitors.

Kids Aqua Play

Next up for slightly older children is the Kids Aqua Play, a colorful playground of climbing structures and slides that will have them jumping for joy. Even adults can't resist joining in the fun, especially when the giant Hanuman-shaped bucket overflows, sending a massive wave of water crashing down.

Matt Racer is a ride for adults. This ride has a blue rubber sheet for sliding down the slide. Pick up the rubber sheet below and walk up to choose the slide above according to your day. Then drop yourself down the chimney according to the gravity of the earth (I must say the view in the evening around the water park from this high angle is very beautiful).

Freefall / Aqualoof The next ride is on the same base but one level higher. Freefall is an orange slide that drops 90 degrees before paralleling the ground. Aqualoof is a blue-green slide that also drops 90 degrees but then loops around another 360 degrees for added thrills. If you play Freefall and don't feel the thrill, you can invite this one. The way to play is when we stand in the capsule, after asking God for a blessing, we cross our arms and legs. Then wait for the release signal from the staff 3..2..1 The floor of the door below where you are standing disappears and then your body plunges into another world..oh no, I just tried Freefall and it's like being hit by Krishna Kali's spell. I'll keep the other one for next time. (The back pad you see is for swimsuits with zippers or buttons to prevent them from scraping against the slide. It's a safety measure for other people who will play later because if there are marks on the slide it will be dangerous for others so it's better to find a swimsuit that is made of pure fabric) And every ride you will see life-saving equipment or first aid kits well prepared. There are also hundreds of lifeguards on hand to provide thorough care.

Boomeranggo: A Thrilling Ride

The Boomeranggo, a vibrant red-and-purple attraction, utilizes a two-person yellow raft to navigate a twisting, enclosed slide. Riders experience a series of left and right turns before emerging from the darkness of the tunnel. This sudden emergence coincides with a thrilling drop, propelled by gravity. The raft then swings nearly 90 degrees towards the sky, creating a sensation of almost leaving the track before gracefully gliding down into the pool. This exhilarating ride leaves riders with an adrenaline rush and a sense of exhilaration.

Spiral/Serpentine: These rides share the same base as the Boomerang. The Spiral features a green track, while the Serpentine has a blue one. Both can be ridden solo or with a partner. The Spiral is considered a beginner-friendly option for those seeking a moderate thrill. The Serpentine, based on its track design, appears to offer the least intense experience. The most thrilling ride on this base is likely the Boomerang. (Please note that you will need to carry your own inflatable tube for these rides.)

The Aqua Coaster: A Thrilling Ride

The Aqua Coaster is the longest slide in the water park, stretching over 200 meters and ranking among the world's longest slides. It features two tracks: a green-blue and a purple-red. Riders use durable, round rubber rafts designed to withstand the intense twists and turns of the long course, which generates more centrifugal force than usual. This necessitates the use of sturdy, heavy rafts, eliminating the need for riders to carry them uphill. Instead, an elevator lifts the rafts to the starting point. The Aqua Coaster is the ultimate thrill ride, accommodating 2-4 people per raft.

Python / Aquaconda is a water ride that uses a yellow rubber boat that can seat two people. The two purple-blue tracks, the characteristics of the slide track from the starting point, drop down before swinging back up, and both shake and bounce up and down all the way. It's so much fun that you'll forget your age.

River Slide / Lazy Wavey River is a gentle ride to end your day after a hard day of play. Before you start, grab a rubber raft, either single or double. Players will spin around on the slide before falling down to the bottom and then floating along the current of the Lazy River, which will take you on a leisurely journey along the water and waves. Enjoy the waterfalls and water curtains along the 600-meter path. You might even fall asleep while sitting or lying on the rubber ring. Plus, the time I went was during the coldest part of April, so even though it was sunny, I didn't feel hot at all.

Double Wave Pool: A Simulated Beach Experience

The Double Wave Pool is a large-scale beach simulation, featuring two adjacent sections. The left-hand section boasts impressive, crashing waves, replicating the experience of the open sea. In contrast, the right-hand section offers gentler waves, with a gradual depth increase. While the water's cleanliness may occasionally falter, its taste and odor are remarkably similar to filtered water. Throughout the day, the beachfront hosts various activities, including Zumba and hip-hop dance sessions, adding to the lively atmosphere. Unfortunately, due to a water-damaged camera, capturing the full range of activities and ambiance proved impossible. Thankfully, a GoPro and a compact camera provided some backup footage.

The Lake Restaurant

Let's take a look at the food and beverage menu. There is a wide variety of options to choose from, including Thai, Chinese, Italian, and Halal cuisine. Prices start at 95 baht. This is a great place to refuel after a long day of exploring.

After a full day of fun, there were still many spots that we didn't get to capture. Ramayana Water Park not only has rides, but also over 50 other activities such as water polo, water volleyball, beach volleyball, beach soccer, and much more. Here are some of the remaining photos from other areas as a parting gift before we leave. I must say that the scenery around here is especially beautiful in the evening, especially when the sun is setting. It was truly a worthwhile holiday for me and my family.
