Khanom: A Hidden Gem in Nakhon Si Thammarat
Despite being located in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Khanom boasts stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, trendy restaurants, and numerous photogenic spots. Surprisingly, Khanom is closer to Surat Thani Airport than Nakhon Si Thammarat Airport, making it a convenient destination with a travel time of just over an hour.
Accommodations are lush and immaculate, with resorts and restaurants situated directly on the beachfront. The serene atmosphere and limited crowds offer a sense of privacy and tranquility.
First Stop: Haad Khaew Beach
Haad Khaew Beach boasts pristine white sand and crystal-clear waters, framed by a backdrop of rolling hills. This scenic stretch of coastline offers breathtaking views of nearby islands, including Koh Wang Nok, Koh Wang Nai, and Koh Samui. Lush coconut groves and a public park border the beach, providing ample shade and recreational opportunities.
Tourists can enjoy various activities along the beach, including boat trips to see pink dolphins. The Pha Phoem Community also offers fishing boat services.
The main attraction of Khao Kwai Beach is that it is a fishing community area. There is a concrete bridge, which was originally the old ferry pier of the Ferry Line company, extending out into the sea.
Local residents enjoy fishing with rods and lines in this area. From the corner of the concrete bridge, one can look back and see the entire Ao Kaeo Phang Bay, which is very beautiful.
Fresh ingredients straight from the source, I mean, from the boat. Spicy southern curry with huge, fresh prawns.
As the sun sets, relax with a cold beer at the Seaview Bar. Pitch a tent, watch the sunset, and embrace nature. You won't want to leave.
The Second Stop: Indulge in a Fish Spa Experience at Suan Ta Sarn
Moving on to the second popular tourist destination in Khanom, we arrive at the "Suan Ta Sarn Fish Spa." This tranquil haven offers a unique and refreshing experience amidst lush greenery. Immerse your feet in the cool stream and let the gentle nibbles of fish soothe your senses. Alternatively, take a refreshing dip in the cool waters during the afternoon heat.
The entrance fee is only 20 baht per person, but it's important to plan ahead as the venue can get extremely crowded on weekends.
Third place: On the way to the Tod Spa, Sawan Tassakorn Garden, there is a place that we drove past that was so cool that we had to look back. It is a rocky mountain surrounded by water and piles of sand. But when you look at it as a whole, it's pretty cool. It's a great place to take cool photos to show off to your friends on social media. Selfie lovers and hipsters, don't miss out on "Khanom Grand Canyon".
