Daily life presents us with numerous challenges and anxieties. The constant barrage of negative thoughts and experiences can take a toll on our mental well-being. To combat this, it is crucial to prioritize self-care and find ways to rejuvenate our minds. Sea therapy, a form of therapeutic intervention that utilizes the restorative power of the ocean, has emerged as a promising option for those seeking solace and rejuvenation. This approach involves engaging in activities such as sailing or simply spending time near the water, allowing the calming effects of the sea to soothe the mind and promote emotional well-being.

We opted for a one-day trip with Discover Catamaran, specifically Program A, which included snorkeling at Koh Mai Thon (without landing), Koh Racha Noi, and a sunset viewing at Laem Phromthep. This trip operates every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
Program details
The morning began with heavy rain, casting a gloomy shadow over Kata Beach. As we waited for the van, we couldn't help but feel a tinge of worry about the weather and the possibility of our trip being cancelled. At 11:20 AM, the van arrived at our hotel and took us to the Discover Catamaran Chalong Lounge, a newly opened venue near Chalong Pier. For those who skipped breakfast, the lounge offered a variety of snacks and drinks. After a briefing, we walked to the nearby pier and boarded a songthaew, a traditional Thai truck, which transported us to the boat's departure point.
The dock was teeming with luxurious yachts.
Let's board this boat now! (I had to take this picture quickly before the Chinese tour group fills the entire space.)
This catamaran is a double-decker, in pristine condition, clean, and equipped with a modern engine control system. It also features a slide on the side. The majority of the Chinese tourists on board were families and occupied the lower deck, while the upper deck was reserved for a group of five Thai individuals (including the author). This provided a high level of privacy, which was greatly appreciated as it allowed for unobstructed views and the peaceful sound of the waves.
The wind was fantastic, and my heart started to race as the remixed version of "I'm Yours" began to play. Several other songs followed, making me want to get up and dance, but I was afraid of falling into the sea because the waves were strong, and the boat was rocking. 555 Each song played was excellent and perfectly suited the atmosphere. I must commend Discover Catamaran for their attention to detail in this regard.
This is the desired idle sitting, watching the sea view, with the added bonus of music to entertain the heart.
Note: I would love to show you a video of the atmosphere, but unfortunately, I am unable to do so.
The sky was not yet clear when we left the pier, but there was some sunshine. As the boat sailed along, the weather gradually improved. We enjoyed the scenery and soon arrived at Koh Mai Thon. This island is known for its dolphin sightings, with a 70% chance of encountering them, according to the guide. We were excited to see dolphins, as we are big fans of these creatures. We eagerly scanned the area around the boat, and the captain tried his best to find them. Unfortunately, we were not able to spot any dolphins (sad face). We then moved on to a snorkeling spot near Koh Mai Thon.
Drive 1 Wood Section: This site boasts an abundance of coral and fish of various sizes swimming freely. The highlight is the crystal-clear water, devoid of stinging jellyfish or sea anemones that might irritate the skin. The number of tour groups visiting is relatively low, allowing for comfortable underwater exploration without the fear of bumping into others. However, do not expect to find an abundance of coral.
After approximately 40 minutes of diving, it was time to continue the journey to Koh Ra-cha Noi. During the trip, chicken cheese burgers were served to satiate hunger.
There are cookies to give away.
Many people on the boat might be disappointed not to see the dolphins. However, we cannot control the actions of others. We can only accept the situation and find happiness in other ways. And we did! Look! Up in the sky!
Two dolphins are on it.
When did I start smiling unconsciously?
The boat sailed for almost an hour before reaching the small island of Koh Racha Noi. Let me tell you, anyone who sees this place for the first time will surely be amazed.
Fortunately, upon arriving at the island, the sun was blazing, further enhancing the vibrant hues of the ocean.
Koh Ra-cha Noi: A small island with no buildings, but abundant in marine natural resources. Beneath the crystal-clear water, there are many species of fish. The coral reefs are beautifully formed. The fine white sand under the water, when exposed to sunlight, sparkles and is captivating.
(I forgot to bring my GoPro. 😭)
The snorkeling here was amazing, I completely forgot about the sun. Besides snorkeling, you can also kayak, play on the water slide, or climb to the top of the island to take pictures. We stayed here for quite a while, and by the time we got back on the boat, I was starving. It was around 4:30 pm, and the boat had already prepared a buffet with a variety of dishes, including seafood tom yum, mango salad with crispy fish, chicken massaman curry, stir-fried vegetables, fried chicken, fried sausages, and fruit for dessert. I didn't have time to take a picture because the Chinese tourists were so quick to grab the food.
The ship then sailed towards Laem Phromthep, the melodious music continuing to play. Many of the songs I enjoyed made me feel happy. My gaze remained fixed on the vast expanse of the sea, the wind blowing across my face further transporting me into a private world that no one could intrude upon. It was a time to be alone with my thoughts, the weariness and distractions that had once consumed me dissolving away as if eroded by the seawater, leaving no trace behind.
There it is, Laem Phromthep.
As the sun dips below the horizon, casting long shadows across the landscape, a sense of melancholy may settle upon some. The realization that this journey is nearing its end can evoke a bittersweet pang of sadness. However, for others, this moment presents an opportunity to savor the fleeting moments of joy and etch them into the tapestry of memory. These cherished recollections can serve as a balm for the soul, offering solace and rejuvenation when life's burdens weigh heavy.
The sky began to change color, gradually darkening from its previous brightness. Time continued to turn relentlessly, and if our hearts remained in the same place, we would be unable to move forward.
The Sea Therapy trip concluded today with great joy. I encourage you to experience the convenience and enjoyment of sailing, diving, and immersing yourself in the crystal-clear turquoise waters. The music, waves, and breathtaking scenery will uplift your spirits, serving as a source of vitality and motivation to pursue your aspirations. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Discover Catamaran guides and staff for their exceptional care throughout the trip.
We are starting to get hooked on cruising.
