At first, I wanted to find time to read books, walk in nature, by the sea, peace and quiet, get to recharge and new ideas to come back to work. So I chose to come to Phuket again after coming to work here many years ago. My brother and I made an appointment to come to Phuket because he had never been here. So I volunteered to be a guide to take him on a trip. We thought about where we would stay. Thavorn Beach Village Phuket Hotel was the place we chose to stay. I was impressed with many things, so I would like to summarize the 5 things that impressed me about staying here.
1. Hillside accommodation
Our Hillside Ocean Facing Zone Room
The room we stayed in was located in the Hillside Ocean Facing Zone, perched atop a hill. Reaching it involved a delightful surprise: a cable car ride! I must admit, I've never encountered a hotel that offers such a unique mode of guest transportation. This cable car service has likely been in operation for quite some time, and I imagine it must have seemed incredibly futuristic in its early days.
Our room was situated on the third floor, making it easily accessible by foot for those who prefer a bit of exercise. The interior design exuded a vintage charm, perfectly suited for international travelers or Thais seeking a touch of traditional Thai ambiance. The layout was inviting and clean, offering a classic atmosphere amidst the mountainous surroundings, complete with breathtaking views.
2. Secluded and peaceful private beach
The allure of this private beach lies in its seclusion, nestled between two hills and accessible only by the hotel. Early mornings reveal a tranquil scene, with the tide still low, exposing a rocky shoreline teeming with marine life. The absence of crowds allows for close encounters with fish and other aquatic creatures. A long pier, stretching into the sea, stands as a testament to the area's history, serving as a transportation route before the construction of roads. Though legally prohibited, its preservation adds a unique charm to the beach. This serene setting is ideal for leisurely walks, fishing, or capturing stunning photographs. The culinary delights offered further enhance the experience.
The food here is excellent, everything is delicious. I can't remember what I ordered, but my friends can see it in the pictures. There is a wide variety of menus, including Western, Eastern, Thai fusion, and even home-cooked Thai food. My brother and I wanted to eat something like this, so they arranged it for us, such as stir-fried seafood with basil, stir-fried vegetables with curry paste and seafood, or even hamburgers. I heard that they won an award for something, so I had to try it. The burger was huge.
The breakfast included in the room was a standard breakfast, offering a relaxing atmosphere by the pool.
On the first night, we had a buffet dinner because we saw that there was seafood. We ate fresh crab, shrimp, and oysters to our heart's content. The next night, we came to the beachside atmosphere of the hotel, a restaurant called Old Siam. They have a special area for couples on the beach, which is very romantic. At first, we thought about booking it, but then we realized that we weren't with our lovers, but with our two younger brothers. It didn't seem quite right, haha. We'll wait until next time when we bring our girlfriends to visit. We decided to sit in the restaurant area instead so we wouldn't feel embarrassed.
The food we ordered was prepared with authentic Thai flavors, leaving a lasting impression. The sweet and sour fish was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The Tom Yum Goong soup was spicy and flavorful, true to Thai cuisine. The salmon in red curry had a firm texture and crispy skin. The stir-fried chicken with cashew nuts was fragrant and well-seasoned. We ended the meal with the recommended bua loy, a sweet dessert. The first bite was heavenly, with the aroma of coconut milk infused with the scent of smoked flowers. It was a delightful experience that made us forget about calories.
4. Close to nature
The hotel offers a variety of adorable pets, including parrots, chickens, turtles, and rabbits, for guests to interact with. The staff will bring these animals out for walks, allowing guests to get up close and personal with them. I particularly enjoyed the orange and yellow parrot, which was both cute and tame. It looked amazing perched on a branch, adding a splash of color to the scene. The rabbits are also a favorite among children staying at the hotel with their families, who can hold and play with them. It's like a miniature zoo, perfect for the whole family. 5. Hotel grounds
I love the swimming pool here. It's big and inviting, and the girls playing with inflatable ponies make it even more stylish. The LAGOON POOL ZONE rooms are divided into two sections: 1. TROPICAL POOL ACCESS, which is on the ground floor and offers direct pool access from your room, and 2. POOLSIDE WITH BATHTUB, which is located on the upper floor.
The hotel also offers a fitness gym located on the beachfront, equipped with various exercise machines and a ping pong table. My brother and I had a great time playing ping pong. Another highlight was the spa, where we enjoyed a one-hour massage. The atmosphere was relaxing, and the spa also offered a steam room and sauna.
