This time we had to go on a business trip to Ayutthaya, but we also had the chance to visit some temples in Ayutthaya^^ Such as Wat Phutthaisawan, Wat Chaiwatthanaram, Wat Mahathat, and we also stopped by to eat delicious food at famous restaurants. We were full of merit, happy, and also full of food. Most importantly, it's easy to travel, just a short distance from Bangkok with a 2-day 1-night trip^^

Day 1
This trip, we started from Chiang Mai^^ We took a flight at 6.55 am and arrived at Don Mueang Airport around 7.50 am. After picking up our luggage, we walked to take a taxi in front of the airport to go to the van queue in front of Future Park Rangsit. The taxi fare was 107 baht and it took about 15 minutes to reach the van queue.
The van departs at 8:40 AM. The fare is 40 baht per person. Inform the driver that you are going to Talat Chao Phrom. The journey takes approximately one hour.
From the Chao Phrom Market, we walked to our accommodation to drop off our bags. The walk from the market was not too far, about 750 meters. We booked a hotel called Stockhome Hostel for 582฿ per night through the Agoda app. We chose this place because it was not too expensive, close to the van terminal, and most importantly, close to various tourist attractions.
Upon arrival at the accommodation, we were unable to check in due to the early hour. We requested to leave our luggage as we planned to spend the entire day sightseeing and would return to check in around 9 pm. The friendly staff informed us that a room was available, allowing us to check in immediately. We were fortunate to avoid any inconvenience.
After packing our belongings, we walked to hail a tuk-tuk to find something to eat at the Pak Krung Kao Restaurant. Turning right as we exited the hotel, we found the queue for the vehicles. The walk was approximately 300 meters, and the fare is based on the distance traveled.

Despite the sweltering heat in Pak Krung Kao today, the restaurant's riverside location provides a pleasant and cool atmosphere. We were the first to arrive, securing the best table. Aside from the ambiance, the food is also delicious, especially the grilled prawns! Other recommended dishes include jungle curry with chicken, green curry with fish cake stuffed with salted egg, and minced pork omelet.
After a satisfying meal, we planned to rent Thai costumes for a photoshoot at the temple. A friend recommended a rental shop, which is located about 850 meters from the Pae Krung Kao restaurant. The shop, called Khun U's Performance Shop, offers a wide variety of beautiful costumes at different prices depending on the style.
After getting dressed, we hailed a taxi and headed straight to Wat Phutthaisawan.
During the Ayutthaya period, Wat Phutthaisawan was a significant temple, holding the status of a royal monastery. Established over 600 years ago, it sits majestically along the banks of the Chao Phraya River.
The most prominent feature of Wat Phutthaisawan is the "Phra Maha That", or the white-colored main prang, which exhibits Khmer-style architecture.

The area around the temple has a serene atmosphere, making it an ideal place for quiet contemplation.
After paying our respects at the temple and taking photos around the grounds, we headed to Wat Chaiwatthanaram.
We walked out to wait for a car in front of the temple. We asked the locals for advice and they recommended that we take the local songthaew, which would take us directly to Wat Chaiwatthanaram. The fare was only 10 baht per person, which was very cheap.
Wat Chaiwatthanaram charges an entrance fee of 10 baht per person. The temple is located in Ban Pom Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. It was built in 1630 by King Prasat Thong and has an architectural style similar to Khmer art.
It is recommended to visit on weekdays as there are not many people. As for the time, it might be better to go in the late afternoon to avoid the heat.
It is truly heartwarming to witness the growing number of tourists embracing Thai attire and demonstrating a keen interest in the country's rich history.

We took photos at this temple until 6 pm. Then we took the car to return the clothes to the shop. After that, we went to find something to eat near the Chao Phrom market. At night, there are plenty of food stalls in this area. We stopped to eat rice porridge at this shop.

Day 2
We woke up early today and after showering and getting dressed, we walked to Wat Mahathat, which was about 550 meters from our accommodation. The morning air was still cool and pleasant for walking. Wat Mahathat is open from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. When we arrived, the temple was not yet open, so we had 15 minutes to take photos around the temple grounds.
After a short walk, tourists began to enter the area. The entrance fee is 10 baht per person.
The Temple of the Great Relic (Wat Phra Si Mahathat)
The Temple of the Great Relic, also known as Wat Mahathat, is a Buddhist temple located in Ayutthaya, Thailand. The name "Mahathat" signifies its role as a repository for relics of the Buddha. Situated near the Pa Than Bridge, east of Wat Phra Si Sanphet, the temple was constructed during the reign of King Borommarachathirat I.
The Intriguing Sandstone Buddha Head
The most captivating sight here is the broken sandstone Buddha head, believed to have fallen from the main statue during the fall of Ayutthaya. The head is now nestled at the base of a tree, its features partially obscured by the encroaching roots, creating a unique and captivating aesthetic. This artistic style is characteristic of the mid-Ayutthaya period, dating back to the mid-21st century CE. We made a point of visiting this spot early in the morning to avoid the crowds, but as the day progressed, a steady stream of tourists began to arrive.

After taking photos, it was time for breakfast. We had noodles at "Auntie Lek's Noodle Shop", located right in front of Wat Mahathat. Just cross the street and you'll be there. This shop is a famous old-timer in Ayutthaya, serving delicious boat noodles.^^
After a satisfying meal, we walked back to the hotel to check out. Once done, we crossed the street to the other side where the van queue to Don Mueang Airport was located.
Thank you to everyone who followed our journey and photos. See you again on our next trip! ◡̈
