Immerse yourself in the moment, let time slip away, and allow your heart to connect with the sea breeze in Phuket.
A round-trip flight ticket during a promotion and accommodation redeemed with points...
An early Monday morning, a public holiday that wasn't quite a holiday. By chance, I had found a discounted flight and redeemed points for affordable accommodation, presenting an opportunity to finally use my 3-day vacation leave. And of course, my destination this time was "Phuket," a place with frequent promotional flights and about which I knew absolutely nothing.
If we ask Wikipedia, it will tell us that Phuket is a southern province of Thailand. It is the largest island in Thailand, located in the Andaman Sea. The neighboring provinces to the north are Phang Nga and Krabi. The entire island is surrounded by the Indian Ocean. However, reading this information does not necessarily pique our interest. We are still unsure why we should visit this place.
Pack your bags and head to the destination known as Phuket.
Arriving at the airport unprepared
With a small backpack.
Tell yourself, "Let's try traveling without any plans for once in our lives."
With a promotional ticket from a well-known airline, we had to board the plane at two in the morning. By the time we arrived in Phuket, it was around five in the morning. We waited a little longer, and soon it was dawn. It was time to explore the city of Phuket.
We were completely unaware of the difficulty in finding public transportation in Phuket.
This sentence describes the frustrating experience of navigating the airport in search of transportation to Kamala Beach, comparing it to a confusing amusement park.
Ultimately, we had to rely on Grab, which resulted in significant financial losses. This experience prompted us to consider how we could live here more economically.
Alright, now that we've arrived, I guess it's time to head back. In the end, the kind Grab driver managed to get us all the way to Kamala Beach.
Greetings from Kamala Beach, Phuket.
Unprepared and facing the looming threat of financial hardship, we decided to take a step back on our first day. We resolved to simply watch the sunset on the beach in front of the hotel and have a light meal.
What is there at Kamala Beach?
The next morning, faced with the high cost of transportation, we, as resourceful individuals on a tight budget, looked around and noticed foreigners walking uphill along the road. Curious, we searched Google to find out what they were doing and discovered a hidden viewpoint along the way. We decided to…
Let's take a walk and see what we can find.
To see the view of the new day
At the Laem Sing viewpoint...
It feels like we are getting closer to the purpose of our trip to Phuket...
A hidden gem of a viewpoint
Rarely does anyone pass by.
Gazing out at the endless expanse of the turquoise sea, I am reminded of my deep love for the southern coast. The crystal-clear water and refreshing breeze offer a sense of tranquility that allows me to truly unwind.
Shortly after, I encountered a group of local women who were enjoying the view. I took the opportunity to ask them what lay ahead if I continued walking. Their response was:
We will find Surin Beach, which is not in Surin!
Just sit still...
And then the day came when we had to travel back. After arriving at Phuket Airport and checking the time, we realized we had plenty of time to spare. So, we did a quick Google Maps search and discovered a hidden gem near the airport! A place we could walk to from the airport itself.
Nai Yang Beach, Sirinat National Park, Phuket
A tranquil haven, devoid of the clamor of crowds and the pollution of the sea, where our hearts find true respite.
Places that we don't know why we came to can also impress us in their own way. At least we can truly relax and don't have to worry about where to go next (because we don't have enough money to go anywhere anyway, lol). Just walking out and closing our eyes for a while, letting our fingers feel the wind, knowing that the wind is touching us, breathing in the sea air, and letting our minds wander without thinking about anything. Just a short while is enough to calm our hearts. We are ready to face a new day, tomorrow, in the place that awaits us.
