A Chronicle of... Korea's Past at Bukchon Hanok Village
Embark on a journey to the ancient village of Bukchon Hanok.
Seoul, pronounced "Sŏul" in Korean, is a popular tourist destination for many Thais.
The most convenient and popular mode of transportation here is the "subway," which is much easier to understand and more user-friendly for those who tend to get lost, like us, than in Japan.
And although our destination is a famous old Korean village,
However, we don't need to resort to outdated methods like walking.
The Bukchon Hanok Village is conveniently located near the subway station.
Simply by boarding the subway.
Line 3, Anguk Station, Exit 2
And walk straight for only 300 meters.
We will immediately encounter the village.
Remember! Once you're up, just walk straight ahead. You might cross some streets and take some pictures along the way.
You'll soon find yourself in the Bukchon Hanok Village.
If you're walking and still feeling confused, wondering why you haven't arrived yet, and questioning whether you've taken the wrong path, …
If you walk straight ahead, crossing the traffic lights continuously.
You are on the right track.
The Enduring Antiquity of Bukchon Hanok
Long walk...
The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Bukchon Hanok Village is...
However, let's just follow the path and we'll find it eventually. After all, this village is a popular tourist destination. Bukchon Hanok Village has over 100 traditional Korean houses, including the homes of high-ranking officials (which makes sense, given its proximity to Gyeongbokgung Palace and other palaces. Back in the day, it would have been convenient for these officials to travel to the palace).
Despite its age, it remains remarkably well-preserved.
When visiting old villages, we often observe...
Time has changed many things from the way they were.
However, here, with care and maintenance,
Time has become just one part of life...
Love and care
To keep things as they are...
Life continues in the ancient village.
How many villages are there?
A popular tourist destination and a protected area.
Despite the ongoing situation, life continues as normal, with people able to live their lives completely unhindered.
Therefore, if you are going to this place, please keep your voice down.
These houses are actually inhabited.
Many people yearn to reside in such an ancient dwelling, its beauty preserved in its entirety.
However, upon further reflection,
People constantly coming to our house to take pictures, watch, stare, and talk about it.
How would it feel…?
However,
I hope we can understand each other, be considerate of each other, and live together in peace.
A metropolis in harmony with nature
If we venture deeper, we will be rewarded with a scenic viewpoint, offering breathtaking views of the sun setting behind the mountains.
Even in a bustling metropolis like Seoul, nature finds a way to peek through.
Perhaps a distant getaway is not necessary.
Sometimes, things that are close to us are easily overlooked, even though they might be exactly what others are searching for.
