First travel log of June. This trip, we chose to relax and unwind at the eastern seaboard, Koh Mak-Koh Kham, Trat Province, for 3 days and 2 nights.
Koh Mak: A Tranquil Island Escape
Koh Mak, a star-shaped island with four points, boasts crystal-clear waters and white sand beaches. Situated between Koh Chang and Koh Kood, it lies approximately 38 kilometers from the mainland. Koh Mak offers a tranquil escape, especially during the low season when it becomes remarkably quiet. The island lacks entertainment venues, ATMs, and convenience stores, making it ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat.
.
Koh Kham is a small island located in the northern part of Ao Phra. The island boasts pristine white sand and is a popular diving spot among tourists.
For those who enjoy activities, you can go snorkeling at Mu Ko Rang National Park or Koh Kham, kayak, canoe, or rent a motorbike to drive around the island.
The accommodation for this trip is "Mira Montra, The Beachfront Resort Koh Mak - Mira Mantra Resort Koh Mak". The enchanting spell of Koh Mak Sea, a luxurious new resort that opened at the end of last year, has a long private beach where you can see the sunrise and the golden sunset reflecting on the beautiful water. There are activities such as canoeing, Thai massage, and an outdoor swimming pool where you can relax and enjoy the sea view.
This trip was a relaxing getaway, so we didn't venture out to capture the iconic image of a broken coconut tree against the sunset at Ao Ban Yai. However, we thoroughly enjoyed the golden light reflecting on the water at the resort's beachfront.
The Cinnamon Bridge, also known as the Bridge to Dreams, is located at the Cinnamon Art Resort & Spa in Ao Tan and is a landmark of Koh Mak. The bridge is 460 meters long and offers stunning views of the sunrise.
The advantage of visiting during the low season is that there are fewer people, and accommodation is cheaper. You can stay in beautiful, expensive resorts at a discount of more than 60-70%.
To reach the pier, take Highway 3148 from Trat city center. Set your GPS to Laem Ngop Pier. Upon arrival, turn right and follow the coastline for a short distance to reach the pier for Koh Mak.
This trip, we used the Lillavadee Speedboat service (it is recommended to book the boat trip in advance). Once you have contacted the pier, we will unload our luggage at this point and then park the car. The parking fee is 50 baht per night. The motorbike taxi service fee is 20 baht.
Lilavadee Ferry Schedule
10:30 AM and 2:00 PM ferry departures from Laem Ngop to Koh Mak.
Ko Mak to Laem Ngop 08:00, 11:30
After a 50-minute speedboat ride, we arrived at Koh Mak. Resort staff greeted us at the pier and escorted us to our accommodations.
We took a scenic drive, admiring the tranquility of the surroundings. The majority of the local population are farmers, cultivating coconut and rubber plantations. After a leisurely 10-minute ride, we arrived at "Mira Montra, The Beachfront Resort Koh Mak."
The front desk check-in point is a large, elevated single-story wooden house. It is designed to be airy and well-ventilated, and it also serves as a dining area. After checking in, the staff will provide you with a map of Koh Mak and various recommendations.
This trip, we were a group of four, so we opted for a Beachfront Family Villa. Located at the far right of the resort, it is a large wooden house with two bedrooms, a living room, and a spacious front porch overlooking the sea. During high tide, the water almost reaches the front lawn.
The expansive veranda stretches across the entire front of the house, offering a haven for relaxation and leisure. Wooden lounge chairs invite guests to bask in the breathtaking ocean views, indulge in a captivating book, or simply unwind with a refreshing beverage. The seamless Wi-Fi connectivity allows for uninterrupted entertainment, whether it's catching up on social media or streaming your favorite shows.
Upon entering, you'll find yourself in the living room, the heart of the home. A stylish table and comfortable sofas invite you to relax, chat, watch TV, or engage in various activities together. Thoughtfully provided slippers allow you to comfortably stroll along the beach.
Wow, this is our bedroom! The soft, white bed is a sight for sore eyes, and there are two pillows per person, so you can choose whether you prefer to sleep high or low. Plus, when you open the curtains, you can see the ocean view. If that's not enough, you can open the glass door and let the cool sea breeze in.
Upon exploring the rooms, we came across the bathrooms. In addition to the sleek and clean indoor bathrooms, there were also outdoor showers with rain showerheads, allowing for a refreshing open-air experience under the moonlight or sunlight. After exploring the rooms, I turned to my friends and said, "I doubt we'll be leaving this place anytime soon. I'd rather just relax and enjoy the amenities here."
After a refreshing rest, it's time to explore the resort further before enjoying the snacks prepared by the resort. The beachfront accommodation is called Beachfront Deluxe Villa.
A wooden pavilion for Thai massage. Yes, this place also offers Thai massage services. For those who do not like to go out for activities, you can inform the Front Desk. During the high season, there will be beautifully decorated curtains.
Sukabumipool, a stunning pool with a beautiful beach view, boasts a stylish design. Don't miss the chance to take a dip and relax in its cool waters.
In the evening, I sat on a swing by the beach, watching two elderly couples chatting happily. The golden light of the setting sun reflected beautifully on the water. Today, I am sitting here with my loved one, enjoying the peaceful moment. What could be better than this? 10/10/10
In the evening, taking a walk along the beach, watching the golden light reflecting on the water is truly beautiful.
The evening atmosphere at the front side will also have a vegetable plot.
From this angle, all the resorts are just a stone's throw from the sea. It's absolutely amazing!
It's time for dinner, which is also included in the package. We chatted and took some photos while the food was being served hot.
The beachfront family villa is even more beautiful when the lights are turned on in the evening. The luxurious view is very expensive.
The swimming pool is lit with LED lights at night, which is very cool.
The tranquil and secluded morning atmosphere is perfect for relaxation.
It's time for breakfast with a stunning view. In addition to the buffet line, if we need anything else, we can inform the resort. I was very impressed with the freshly squeezed watermelon and pineapple juice.
We originally planned to take a boat to check in at Koh Kham, but this morning there was a light drizzle, so we decided to go back to relax at our accommodation.
The rain stopped and the sun came out right away. Haha.
We went to the front desk to request a boat to Koh Kham. The resort provided life jackets and snorkeling equipment. The boat fare is normally 100 baht per person, and the entrance fee to Koh Mak is 200 baht per person. However, these fees were included in our package. The island in the distance at the bow of the boat is Koh Kham. If we wanted to kayak there, it would only take half an hour.
A wooden bridge connects Koh Kham to a white sand beach. The sand here is whiter than other beaches because it is imported from another country.
The atmosphere is currently very peaceful, allowing us to freely explore and take pictures throughout the island. We can capture stunning photos without having to compete for the perfect angle.
Koh Kham boasts a shallow snorkeling spot, barely knee-deep, teeming with fish and brain coral. Blue starfish can be found on the right side of the island, behind a large volcanic rock formation. This spot is ideal for snorkeling enthusiasts.
The island of Koh Kham has a bar where you can exchange your boarding pass for a complimentary beverage.
No matter where you sit, you'll be comfortable and forget about being hungry. In fact, you can inform the resort to prepare a lunch box for you to enjoy on Koh Kham.
After a satisfying lunch, we continued our journey to the Chinnomon Bridge, also known as the Bridge to Dreams, located at the Chinnomon Art Resort & Spa in Ao Tan. The journey took some time as it was situated on the opposite side of the island.
Chinnamon Bridge is a landmark of Koh Mak.
In the late afternoon, we returned to the resort to relax and enjoy snacks prepared by the staff. The menu changed daily, offering a variety of delicious options. The excellent service truly impressed us.
The front of the Front is a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful view.
This evening, relax and unwind on the beach. It's incredibly peaceful.
The final morning, I woke up to the sight of the sea during the rainy season, beautiful in a different way. This trip has had every kind of atmosphere imaginable! 555
The resort offers kayaks for guests to enjoy on the beach. Paddles can be borrowed from the front desk. The kayaks come in a variety of vibrant colors, making them perfect for taking stunning photos.
The most beautiful room at Mira Montra.
