After meticulously planning every day of our trip, we decided to take a break from the intense schedule and spend our first morning in Tokyo with no plans. We woke up at our own pace and discussed our options over breakfast. Ultimately, we decided to visit the popular city of Kawaguchiko and Mount Fuji, a destination we make a point of visiting every time we come to Japan. It's almost as if we consider it our hometown or feel compelled to check on the mountain's well-being.

With the JR Pass in hand, we embarked on a journey from our accommodation, boarding the Limited Express train at Shinjuku Station. The specific train we took was the Kaiji.

To reach Kawaguchiko Station, disembark at Otsuki Station and transfer to the Fujikyu Railway. Please note that the Fujikyu Railway requires separate ticket purchase and is not covered by the JR Pass.

The train will stop at Mt. Fuji station before reaching Kawaguchiko station and then reverse direction. This may seem surprising, but it is a sign that we are nearing our destination.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the familiar sight of Mount Fuji, its grandeur, beauty, and power undiminished with each encounter. Mount Fuji holds a special place in the hearts of the Japanese people, revered since ancient times as a sacred mountain and a symbol of spiritual unity. Some even believe that the entire mountain is a deity.

This time, we didn't have any specific goals for our trip, so we decided on the spur of the moment to relax by Lake Kawaguchiko. It was conveniently located within walking distance from the train station.

Lake Kawaguchiko is the second largest of the five lakes surrounding Mount Fuji. Its stunning views of the iconic mountain make it a popular tourist destination, offering a variety of accommodation options for visitors seeking relaxation and recreation. The area boasts a range of boat rentals, catering to diverse preferences. Whether you desire a leisurely paddle on a cute duck-shaped boat or an exhilarating speedboat ride, there's something for everyone.

Despite the hectic schedule of the past few days, we opted for a relaxing afternoon at the foot of Mount Fuji. After a day of exploration and adventure, we decided to unwind and enjoy the serene atmosphere. As the afternoon sun began to set, we bid farewell to the majestic mountain and embarked on our journey back to our accommodation for a well-deserved rest.

Today is a truly relaxing day.
