A One-Day Trip to Kanchanaburi: Exploring Nature's Beauty
This spontaneous one-day trip to Kanchanaburi was a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Located just a stone's throw from my hometown of Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi offers a wealth of natural beauty and diverse resources, making it an ideal destination for a quick getaway.
Kanchanaburi's lush landscapes and stunning vistas provide a refreshing contrast to the urban environment. The province boasts a rich biodiversity, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts. Its proximity to Bangkok further enhances its appeal, offering a convenient escape for those seeking a quick dose of tranquility.
With its abundance of natural attractions, Kanchanaburi offers something for everyone. From exploring the cascading waterfalls and serene rivers to venturing into the lush forests and breathtaking mountains, the province provides a captivating experience for all.
This one-day trip was a testament to the beauty and diversity of Kanchanaburi. It served as a reminder that even a short escape can be transformative, offering a chance to reconnect with nature and appreciate its wonders.
This trip, we traveled by private car. At first, we were going to take the bus, but we thought one day wouldn't be enough. 555. My friend volunteered to be a celebrity because he asked his fan club (to drive) to take him. Wait a minute, is this a joke or a seashell?!
Regarding tourist attractions, I honestly have no idea where to go. I'm usually the type of person who travels without any plans whatsoever. I just go wherever I feel like going, and then figure things out as I go. The driver doesn't know the way either, so we're in for a wild ride. I'm not sure if this trip will be a success or not! So, I volunteered to write a tour program. Well, today is the day I get to put my knowledge to good use...
The tour program is complete. What are we waiting for? Let's go!
Departure date. . .
Praying at "Tiger Cave Temple" for good fortune to increase the merit of a sinner like me.
The first place we visited was "Wat Tham Sua" (Tiger Cave Temple). This temple is definitely worth a visit. Anyone who goes to Kanchanaburi and doesn't visit this temple is missing out. It houses the largest Buddha statue in the province of Kanchanaburi, standing amidst rice fields and mountains, with a view of the Mae Klong Dam. We have been to Kanchanaburi many times, but this was our first opportunity to visit this temple. We were speechless when we saw it! We had just finished our morning coffee, so we were still a bit jittery, haha! But it was truly beautiful and left a lasting impression on us.
The front of the building has a parking lot.

The temple offers a staircase for those who are physically able to climb. However, for those who prefer not to walk, there is a tram service available to take visitors to the top. The cost of the tram ride is not specified, but it is said to be affordable.
I've reached the top. I don't have much luggage, but why am I so out of breath... Whew!

Let's take a tour around the beautiful temple grounds.
This place is called Tiger Cave Temple, so there must be a tiger cave here. But we didn't go in because two tigers can't be in the same cave. Haha! Actually, we were very tired, like we had just woken up to exercise in the morning, so we decided to rest first. 5555555
It's about time. Just going up and down the temple stairs makes me as tired as a panting dog. Next stop, "Minaka Cafe"! Yay!!
"Marché Nakha Cafe" is a trendy cafe with a bridge extending into the middle of the rice field, just behind Wat Tham Sua. The atmosphere here is very good, suitable for relaxing and sipping tea or coffee, and enjoying desserts after a tiring climb from visiting the temple. However, it's a pity that the day we went was a Saturday, which was very crowded!! Almost overflowing the shop. If I'm not mistaken, it seems like there was a tour group, and there was no place to sit (wiping away tears TT). So we decided to tell the captain to turn the car around and head to the next station, the "Bridge over the River Kwai".
Sleeping on the tracks for the train to run over at the "Bridge over the River Kwai".
The bridge over the River Kwai, a historical landmark of the Death Railway during World War II, is a must-visit destination in Kanchanaburi. Despite having visited countless times, we couldn't resist stopping by to capture some stylish photos before heading for lunch. This iconic structure serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made during the war.
Every day is a runway, how to take pictures to make people look at you. The latest one is after the fire. 5555555555
The bright sky naturally comes with strong sunshine. After taking photos until I was tired, I started to feel hungry. Captain, let's go eat!
If you want to be hospitalized, go to the hospital. If you want to eat, go to "Khiri Mantra".
We have arrived at Khao Kiri Manthara Restaurant! We saw this restaurant shared on Facebook and were immediately drawn to its beautiful ambiance. We decided that this was the perfect place to try some delicious food. The drive here was pleasant and took only 15 minutes from the bridge over the River Kwai. The spacious parking lot is so big that you could even play football here!
The bathroom here is super luxurious and comfortable. The air conditioning is cool and refreshing, and it's sparkling clean. Is this a bathroom or a condo for rent? 555555555
The bathroom is already so beautiful, let's take a look at the atmosphere inside the restaurant…

Oh my God, the view here is amazing! I've never been to a restaurant with such a beautiful atmosphere. I usually eat street food, fighting with the stray dogs for scraps. But this place is truly stunning. You have to see it for yourself to believe it.
Hungry and with a beautiful view, I'd love to take some photos, but first, let's order some food because eating is the most important thing! 55555
Steamed Sea Bass with Spicy and Sour Soup
Note: The original Thai text "ต้มยำปลากระพง" refers to a specific dish, "Steamed Sea Bass with Spicy and Sour Soup."

The overall taste of the food was delicious. The fish was fresh and clean, with a strong, sweet and sour flavor. I usually like spicy food, so the sweet and sour was right up my alley. The price was reasonable, not too expensive. This meal was so good that we ate until our bellies were full.
After a satisfying meal, it was time for the next stop on our itinerary: Mallika City. However, our friends suddenly felt hot and suggested a change of plans to visit Erawan Waterfall instead. We readily agreed, as we had ample time. Despite the fact that none of us had brought appropriate clothing, we decided to go with the flow. This was a true impromptu adventure!
We have arrived at Erawan Waterfall! Yay! But...we can't swim. How unfortunate! When we reached the first tier, it was crowded like a swarm of moths! It's Saturday, after all. We could only dip our feet in to feel the water. We've been to a waterfall! Something like that. Haha.
In the absence of water activities, we still have time to spare. Where should we go? The Si Nakharin Dam, of course! It's close to the waterfall. Let's go and make the most of our 50 baht park entrance fee. We can even buy some papaya salad to enjoy while we're there, even though we haven't finished digesting the previous meal.
Enjoy the breathtaking atmosphere at "Srinagarind Dam".
At the Srinakarin Dam, we didn't do much besides enjoying a spicy papaya salad. We are, after all, a group of foodies! After filling our stomachs, we had fun taking pictures.
I love sunny days because they make the sky so bright and beautiful. ^_^
It's time to go home, guys. Otherwise, my mom will scold me. 😂 This concludes our one-day trip to Kanchanaburi (pronounced in English). It was an incredibly worthwhile day, and I had a lot of fun. It was my first time traveling with friends in years, as I usually travel alone. We chatted non-stop the entire journey, laughing until our throats were sore. It was a different kind of fun. Regardless of how I travel, I always enjoy it. If I get the chance, I'll definitely go back. 😊
Estimated Expenses Summary
The cost of fuel was shared equally among four people, resulting in a payment of 250 baht per person.
Lunch costs 250 baht per person.
The entrance fee to the park is 50 baht per person.
Other fees are at your discretion. :P
Thank you all for taking the time to read. Feel free to leave your feedback! It can be a bit confusing at first, haha. Next time, we'll take you on an adventure with our friends. Please stay tuned! Bye-bye.
