The Wat Chet Lin, also known as Wat Nong Charin by locals, is believed to have been built before 2060 B.E. The word "lin" means "gutter," and "Chet Lin" translates to "seven gutters." According to historical records, every king of the Mangrai dynasty would perform a royal bathing ceremony at the pond of Wat Chet Lin before ascending the throne. During the ceremony, water would be poured from a golden conch shell through seven golden gutters onto the king's body. After the ceremony, the king would change into his royal attire and ascend the throne.

Wat Chet Lin, located on Phra Pok Klao Road in Phra Sing Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province, is a serene and picturesque temple, considered one of the city's significant religious sites.
