Trang is renowned for its delectable cuisine, but this time, we'll venture to the quaint district of Sikao. Our goal is to unwind and immerse ourselves in nature at a riverside farmstay known as "Bo Hin Farmstay," a hidden gem that many may not be familiar with.
From Trang city, it takes about 40 minutes to reach the small community of Bo Hin. While homestays are not a common tourist destination, this trip presented a unique opportunity to participate in the As.Social project. We spent two days and one night exploring the Bo Hin community. For those interested, you can learn more about the project and other fascinating communities at https://www.1nightstaywithlocals.com/.
This trip to Bor Hin Farmstay began at Don Mueang Airport, flying to Trang. There are many ways to get to Trang, including by train, plane, or bus, depending on your preference. Upon arrival in Trang, you can choose how to get to Bor Hin Farmstay. You can rent a car from the airport, hire a van with a driver, or have the community car pick you up.
Fortunately, we had a friend from Phuket who was driving, so we asked them to pick us up and take us to Bon Hin Farmstay, which is about 40 kilometers from Trang Airport.

The Allure of the Community: Unveiling Hidden Gems
This vibrant community boasts a plethora of captivating activities, with five key highlights that are sure to pique your interest. However, it's important to note that some activities may be weather-dependent. During our visit, we encountered stormy weather and strong winds, which unfortunately prevented us from experiencing certain attractions.
Boat trip through the mangrove forest.
2. Immersing in a hot spring amidst the mangrove forest.
3. Visit Koh Lo Lo (weather permitting)
4. Plant seagrass to serve as food for dugongs in Ao Boon Klong (depending on weather conditions).
5. Witness the breathtaking sunset at Haad Khep Ta Wan.
As soon as we embarked on our journey, we encountered obstacles. The period of our visit coincided with a storm, leaving us uncertain whether we could reach all the aforementioned destinations. However, having come this far, we were determined to persevere, come what may. Fortunately, we did not need to rent a car on this occasion, as our friend drove from Phuket to pick us up before we headed to Bor Hin Farmstay. We arrived at Bor Hin Farmstay in the afternoon after a considerable journey, during which it rained continuously. Strangely, upon our arrival, the rain ceased completely.
- Our accommodation, as mentioned, is a farmstay, offering a rustic atmosphere by the water, providing a true sense of relaxation.
- In addition to the accommodation being located by the river, there is also a fish farm in front of the accommodation where we can enjoy fresh fish from the farm.
- After settling into our accommodation, it's time to head out and explore.

Rajamangala Beach
- After cruising through the mangrove forest, our guide, Ae, took us to Rajamangala Beach, another stunning beach. Unfortunately, the waves were strong during our visit.

Hot spring immersion in the mangrove forest
- The hot spring in the mangrove forest has a temperature of around 45-50 degrees Celsius, which is quite hot. My guide suggested that we apply mud to our bodies before soaking in the spring. However, simply soaking our feet in the hot spring can also be very relaxing.
- They were told to apply mud to their bodies before soaking in the water to avoid getting too hot, and they took it seriously.
- We were supposed to apply the product and then soak in hot water, but we ended up playing in the mud instead. We had a lot of fun.
- We returned to our accommodation to prepare for dinner. The atmosphere in the evening was peaceful and quiet.
- Our dinner tonight was quite spectacular, and most importantly, it was incredibly delicious. Fresh from the fish farm, we're not sure if we finished everything, but we definitely enjoyed it to the fullest.
- After a long day of using energy, everyone is exhausted. After a satisfying dinner, it's time to recharge and get ready for tomorrow's challenges.
- Good morning, a wonderful start to the day with the beautiful atmosphere by the fish cages.
- Lost in the captivating view, we completely forgot to check the time.
- We planned to watch the sea of fog near our accommodation this morning, but the fog didn't come today. We were a little disappointed, but the view in front of us was enough to make up for it.
The surrounding atmosphere of the farmstay is characterized by rubber and palm plantations, with a backdrop of mangrove forests and the Trang Sea.
Khlong Son Beach
Khlong Son Beach is another beach located near the Khlong Son Pier. It boasts a lush and serene atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. Camping is permitted at the beach, and best of all, it's free of charge.
- Khlong Son Beach may not be a popular beach due to its rocky terrain, but the atmosphere and views are stunning, making it a truly special place.
- Sunset Beach is another stunning beach, especially in the evening, making it the perfect place to watch the sunset.
- Walking along the beach, we will find horseshoe crabs everywhere. Be careful not to step on them as you walk.
- After visiting Klong Son Beach, we returned to pack our belongings. While we were doing so, we saw a man feeding fish in a fish cage. If someone were to fall in, it would be difficult to survive.
- Seagrass, a vital food source for dugongs, is typically planted in Ao Boon Krong during calm weather conditions. However, this time, the planting had to be postponed due to the arrival of a storm.
- Let's take a look at some of the community products here, which are made from pandan leaves, also known as sea pandan. They are very beautiful, and most of them have customers coming to buy them and there are a lot of orders.
- As a man, I couldn't miss out on trying batik. It may seem easy, but it's actually quite challenging. Let's see how my work turns out.
- Let me tell you, self-promotion is a must. Our work is truly extraordinary, just take a look.
- Before heading back, I couldn't resist picking up some souvenirs, including the famous "klangmung" salted fish, which is said to be the best in the area.
