Hello everyone....First of all, I would like to say that I have been thinking for a long time whether I should review this or not. Because every time I travel, I do a lot of research. So I thought that the information I have gathered might be helpful to some of you. So, let's do it!! This is my first full review, so let's get started... Let's go!!!
"Taiwan"…Why is everyone going to Taiwan? And why is once never enough?
We believe that once is not enough...we want to go again and again...we think it's amazing...the food is delicious, the exchange rate is not expensive, sports shoes are cheap, bubble tea is delicious, transportation is convenient. Oh, this is just the beginning...
This trip to Taiwan was initiated by our travel companions who… abandoned us!!… When we had free time and didn't go anywhere, it felt like life was withering away… We had to recharge our batteries!! If we went alone, we would be afraid of ghosts in the hotel, haha (we have a very active imagination)….
We posted a slightly sarcastic message on Facebook about being ditched, and then a senior messaged us asking if they could join. We were instantly happy – someone to share the trip with! We decided on a budget-friendly and easily accessible destination: Taiwan!
With a flight promotion, we decided to go for it! This time, we flew with EVA Air, which was great because it was an overnight flight.
Our original travel plan was constantly changing as we opted for a more relaxed approach. Some days, we woke up late and simply adjusted our itinerary accordingly.
This is the original plan we had in place.
However, in reality, the plan changed. 5555.
Day 1 Depart from Suvarnabhumi Airport at 1:45 AM, arrive at Taiwan Airport at 6:00 AM, Ximending night market.

The market offers a wide variety of goods, from clothing and accessories to electronics and souvenirs. Visitors can also find numerous street food stalls serving local delicacies.
Additional Considerations:

- Budget: Entrance fees and transportation costs vary. Allocate a budget for your activities and meals.
- Weather: Taipei's weather can be unpredictable. Check the forecast and pack appropriate clothing.
Enjoy your exploration of Taipei!
Day 7 Hua Shan 1914 Creative Park, return to Thailand
I enjoyed walking through the Ximending night market every day because we were staying in the area. Even though I passed by it every day, I still enjoyed it because there was a variety of food, souvenirs, clothes, shoes, etc.
Let's go to Taiwan! We're ready to fly!
Day 1
Our departure time is 1:45 AM.
After sitting for a while, it was time for the late-night meal. I was sleepy, but I ate according to my duty. 55555.
After finishing my meal, I had trouble sleeping. I watched movies, listened to music, and took short naps. The journey took 3.5 hours, and we finally arrived at Taoyuan Airport at 6:35 AM.
Pick up your luggage and head to the restroom to change. The airport also has showers available. Then, you're ready to head into the city.
Prior to entering the city, we must have an Easy card and a phone SIM card.
This is what the Easy card looks like. I used the same one I had from my trip in 2016, so I was able to top it up again. This card really makes life easier, just like its name suggests. You can use it to tap on buses, trains, subways, and to buy things at 7-Eleven and other stores.
We purchased our SIM card at the airport. After exiting through the gate, turn right and you will find a SIM card store. This time, we used Taiwan Mobile for 7 days. The internet speed was good. We bought one SIM card and shared the internet with my friend. We paid $500 and split it equally, so it cost $250 per person.
Let's go! We're ready to enter the city. Oh! Almost forgot… Don't forget to grab the documents they provided, such as the Taipei Metro Guide. If you forget, you can always pick them up at various MRT stations. This document is important because it has an MRT map and also tells you about tourist attractions near each MRT station. It looks something like this. It's a bit worn out, haha, because it's been used a lot.
Okay, we are ready…we can easily enter the city, which is…
1. Bus 1819 goes to Taipei Main Station.
2. Commuter Line (Train stops at all stations)
3. Express Line: This refers to the purple line of the rapid transit system. This time, we took the Express Line, which has Wi-Fi and USB charging ports, making it convenient and fast.
The Express train has arrived. The atmosphere inside the train is…
Drowsy, but the scenery along the way is beautiful.
Upon arriving at Taipei Main Station, take the blue line of the MRT for one stop and get off at Ximen Station. Exit through Exit 6 and you will find yourself in the heart of the shopping district.
We used Google Maps to find our hotel, the Diary of Ximen Hotel- Liufu Branch. We stayed there for the entire trip because we were too lazy to change hotels, haha. I have to say, this hotel was fantastic. It's located in a shopping district, close to a 7-Eleven and a famous mala hotpot restaurant. It was truly amazing. The only downside was that we could hear the people in the next room so loudly that we had to use pillows to cover our ears. It took us a while to fall asleep, haha. We found the hotel and booked it through Booking.com. We paid in cash when we checked in. Here are some pictures of the room we stayed in.
The room is spacious and offers a nice view.
The bathroom is clean and has strong water pressure. It also provides a hairdryer, soap, and shampoo.
However, when we arrived at the hotel, there were many people waiting to check in. We had already paid, but we couldn't check in yet because check-in time was 3:00 PM. What should we do? We were tired and sleepy from the flight. So, we left our luggage at the lobby and went to find a place to relax. We couldn't go sightseeing yet because we were sleepy… Oh well, we wanted to arrive early, but our bodies wouldn't cooperate.
I stepped out of the hotel to explore the neighborhood. During the day, it wasn't as lively as it was at night. After walking for a while, I came across a stall selling Xiao Long Bao (which I had read about in a review). I decided to support the vendor. The funny thing was, while the vendor was handing me the Xiao Long Bao, the city inspectors arrived! He handed it to me, I received it, and I hadn't paid yet. He quickly pushed his cart away to avoid the inspectors. It wasn't just the vendor who ran; all the nearby food stalls also scattered. It was quite entertaining and exciting. Everyone was an expert at running! I stood there confused, but with my kind and compassionate nature, I followed the vendor. I paid him, and he ran away to another alley. My friend and I followed him to pay. After paying, we found a place to sit and eat. We saw an auntie selling dumplings, so we bought some from her too. They looked delicious, didn't they?
After finishing our meal, we decided to find a nearby shaved ice shop to relax.
We chose to sit upstairs, enjoying the view of the passing cars.
The ice looks clear and refreshing. We like its chewy texture, similar to our local "bua loy" (sweet dumplings in coconut milk).
The atmosphere in the restaurant
We sat down to eat and kill time. As we sat there, we got sleepy and our eyes started to close. We decided to return to the hotel in the hope that they would allow us to check in early. We waited until we fell asleep. In the early afternoon, the staff allowed us to check in. It was time for a midday nap! I told you we would travel comfortably. The plan changes constantly. It's a fun trip, I must say. Today, we woke up late at night and went shopping and eating in the Ximending district near our accommodation. We were going to Mitsui Outlet to buy sports shoes, but we didn't go because we were tired. The first day is over.
Day 2
After waking up, showering, and dressing, we enjoyed breakfast at the hotel. Then, we set off with our lone tour participant on a journey along the romantic Pingxi Railway! This railway line was also featured in the film "You Are the Apple of My Eye," which I haven't seen yet, but I've watched the trailer.
Let's go! Take the MRT to Taipei Main Station first, then buy a train ticket to Ruifang. Tell the seller you're going to Ruifang, and they'll give you a ticket like this. It's a one-way ticket for $59. Ready, set, go!
The train arrives on time at 10:11 am. Take the last stop to Ruifang, arriving at 10:57 am.
Inside the train, it is clean and I am enjoying the view outside the window.
Upon arriving at Ruifang Station, we exited to purchase tickets for the Pingxi Line. If you wish to visit the historic village of Jiufen, you can take a bus from this station. This time, we opted for the Pingxi Line. The ticket booth appears as follows:
Ticket secured for $80. Time to wait for the train!
We can get off at any station. Get off and on, visit each station, each one is different. The train comes every hour. Calculate the time well. We looked and saw that it would take a long time to get off at every station, so we decided to get off at only some stations. Even if we get off at only some stations, we will be back at the hotel by 8 pm.
We decided to take the train to the end of the line at Jingtong Station. The views along the way were beautiful. There were some stretches where there was no phone signal because it was a forest. When the train reached the end of the line, I was so busy playing on my phone that I didn't get off as I had intended. I ended up getting off at Pingxi Station instead. I explored the area, ate, and took a lot of photos.
Inside the train.
This is the atmosphere of Pingxi Village where we landed.
A short walk later, I wasn't hungry, but I just wanted to take a picture with the fried squid, so I had to support the old lady. The price was $150.
Strolling and eating, what a relaxing way to spend the day.
I forgot to mention that we drank bubble tea every day. It was delicious. After a while, it started to rain. When we heard the train coming, we ran to the Lingjio station. Not many people got off at this station, and only my senior and I got off. The village was very quiet, and there wasn't much to see. So we took a picture with the train station.
As the train arrived, we headed towards Shifen Station. This station is known for its sky lantern releases and waterfall, and it was also the filming location for the Taiwanese movie "You're the Apple of My Eye."
We have arrived at the station, which is crowded. We enjoy this station because it offers numerous photo opportunities. People here release sky lanterns with written wishes. We prefer taking photos, so we went to the bridge, where we met a new Korean friend. After chatting and exchanging contact information, we invited them to join our trip to Tianmen Mountain tomorrow. We will continue sharing our exciting experiences.
After that, we walked to the waterfall, which was quite a distance. As we walked, we enjoyed the beautiful scenery. We spent a long time at this station, until it was almost evening.
We decided to return to Ruifang to take the train back to Taipei Main Station. Upon our return, we were confused about whether we needed to purchase another ticket. We tried to find the answer on Google, but to no avail. We boarded the train, and the owner of our seat arrived, so we had to move to another seat. However, we wanted to try it out despite our uncertainty, and it was fun! In reality, we could have taken the train directly, but if the seat owner arrived, we would have had to move. Some people might have to stand, but we were lucky to find an empty seat and rode all the way to Taipei Main Station. We simply tapped our EasyCard and headed back to our accommodation area.
We weren't particularly hungry, so we decided to grab some shaved ice at a nearby shop. It seemed popular with the locals.
That's all for today.
Day 3: Yangmingshan National Park and Qingtiangang Grassland
Today's adventure took us to Yangmingshan National Park and the breathtaking Qingtiangang Grassland. We spontaneously decided to embark on this journey without checking the weather forecast, and let's just say, the experience was unforgettable, to say the least.
We met our new Korean friend at Exit 6 of Ximen Station at 9:00 AM. His English was excellent. He was traveling alone, so we invited him to join our trip. We took the MRT to Taipei Main Station, transferred to the red line, and got off at Jiantan Station. We exited at Exit 1, walked left for about 100 meters, and found the bus stop. We waited in line for the 小15 bus. While we were waiting, a Taiwanese lady tapped us and spoke in Taiwanese (Taiwanese people don't like to be lumped together with Chinese people, and they want us to distinguish their language as Taiwanese, not Mandarin, but it's actually Mandarin). We understood some of what she said and were able to communicate a little. We enjoy learning new languages and aren't afraid to practice speaking them. We actually find it fun. The lady asked if we were going to Qingtiangang, and we said yes. She then walked back to her friends and told them. They were probably curious about us because we didn't look like locals.
As the bus arrived, my friends and I boarded. It was our friendly bus driver who informed us where to disembark. As you can see, we encountered nothing but kind and welcoming individuals. How could we not be impressed by this trip? We rode the bus up the mountain, which was mostly filled with older passengers. We were all set to embark on our mountain hike.

After a short drive, the sky suddenly darkened and it started to rain. Our plan to take photos at the beautiful cow field was ruined. We ended up having a wet day trip.
We have arrived! Despite the rain, we decided to walk since we were already here. We took shelter in the Visitor Center for a while, but the strong wind made it impossible to avoid getting wet even with an umbrella.
The lush green meadows are truly breathtaking. If it weren't for the rain, they would be even more stunning.
There were many places to walk and take pictures. We didn't walk far because it was raining and windy. We walked to take pictures with only one umbrella. We were soaked from head to toe, including our shoes. It was very cold.
Qingtiangang Cattle Ranch
Look at the cow.
After taking a few photos, I decided to head back down to wait for the bus. Looking at the weather, I realized that I should have checked the forecast beforehand. Lesson learned!
We were heading to the hot springs because we were freezing cold. However, our Korean friend took us to the wrong station. It was raining heavily at this station, and a kind auntie who was guarding the place told us to take shelter from the rain first. She said that we should wait until the rain stopped before walking to the hot springs, as they were nearby. The auntie let us sit in her room and even gave us snacks. We only met kind people, we love them!
We posted the wrong thing! Haha
Delicious chewy treats from the kind-hearted auntie.
After the rain stopped, we thanked the kind lady and walked a little further to soak our feet in the hot spring. We loved this place because it was a great way to warm up.
It was like a blessing from heaven. Imagine everything getting soaked, haha. It was cold, but soaking my feet in warm water was incredibly comfortable.
Rain and fog, the temperature dropped to 15 degrees, no long-sleeved shirts.
This place has hot springs for uncles and aunts. There are separate rooms for men and women. We secretly went to watch the aunts, who were all naked. We kind of guessed this would happen because when we went to the hot springs in China, the Chinese people were also naked. Hehe.
We returned to soaking our feet in warm water as before.
We spent about an hour there, waiting for the bus back to Jiantan Station. This time, the bus was crowded, and we had to stand the whole way. It was drizzling, and the road was winding. I couldn't help but think about the warm water and thick blankets waiting for me at the hotel. When we arrived at Jiantan Station, we took the blue line to Ximen Station. There, we said goodbye to our Korean friends and headed back to the hotel. After showering and changing clothes, we rested for a while. In the evening, we went shopping for souvenirs in Ximending. The area was crowded with young people, so we didn't have to go far. We found everything we needed near our hotel.
Where there are many people, we must try it. The fried chicken is so big that I can't finish it.
Enjoyed a day of shopping and exploring. It was a fun and unforgettable experience, even with the chilly weather.
Day 4: National Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, Tamsui, Shilin Night Market.
Today, we changed our travel plans in the city because a close friend flew in from Thailand. We had lunch together in the afternoon, so we took him on a tour around the city. The weather today was sunny with clear skies, but it was a bit chilly because it rained all day yesterday. We started our tour at the National Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall. To get there, we took the blue MRT line and got off at Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Station. We walked out of Exit 4 and walked about 200 meters to reach the hall.
National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall
This angle also offers a view of Taipei 101.
We spent some time here, taking photos, relaxing, and enjoying the scenery. Then, we took our brother to the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, a must-see landmark.
The weather is perfect, with clear skies.
There are many angles to take photos from. The sky is also cooperating.
The flowers are beautiful.
The soldiers here are changing shifts, which is quite a sight to see. However, we didn't stay to watch because the person we were meeting with arrived, and we headed straight to meet them. We took the Red Line MRT and got off at Fuxinggang Station.
Fuxinggang Station
We stopped by our brother-in-law's mother's house for lunch, as we had arranged. We ate like locals until our bellies were full.
After finishing our meal, we decided to take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the cool breeze at Tamsui.
I initially intended to digest my food, but ended up eating more. My favorite bubble tea! I drink it every day. My body will explode!
Translation:
Sitting and enjoying the view, watching people come and go, and chatting with friends - that's all I need to be happy.
We've been here until dark.
We then headed to the bustling Shilin Night Market, where the crowds were thick and the food stalls plentiful. The sight of affordable sports shoes was particularly exciting.
There is a wide variety of food available.
After a tiring day, we returned to the hotel to rest. Another day is over.
Day 5: Shopping and National Taiwan University
This itinerary combines the opportunity to explore the vibrant shopping scene in Taipei with a visit to the prestigious National Taiwan University.

- Be aware of the crowds, especially during weekends and holidays, at both Ximending and Shilin Night Market.
- Dress comfortably and wear appropriate footwear for walking.
- Respect the university environment and follow all campus regulations.
Enjoy your day exploring the diverse offerings of Taipei!
Shopping day, shopping for sports shoes. Personally, I like the shoe stores in Gongguan very much because there are many stores, the prices are good, and there are many beautiful models that I like very much.
We started the day by waking up not too early, walking and taking pictures. This is the Ximending area. The red bricks can also be taken in Thailand, haha.
Translation:
We ventured out to shop for athletic shoes based on recommendations from Pantip, but ultimately discovered our preference for Gongguan. Despite a close friend's initial suggestion, we stubbornly opted for the former. Reaching Gongguan is a breeze, requiring only a ride on the green MRT line to Gongguan Station. This vibrant district, home to National Taiwan University, pulsates with youthful energy, making it a must-visit for fellow youngsters. The prices here are incredibly appealing, offering significant savings compared to Thailand.

The Ambiance of National Taiwan University
The atmosphere within National Taiwan University is one of vibrant intellectualism and cultural diversity. The historic campus, adorned with lush greenery and architectural landmarks, fosters a sense of tranquility and academic rigor. Students engage in lively discussions and collaborative projects, while renowned scholars conduct groundbreaking research across various disciplines. The university's commitment to excellence attracts individuals from all walks of life, creating a dynamic and inclusive community.
Sports field in National Taiwan University
A must-have is the famous bubble tea. I'm having it again! Eating and walking, the best feeling ever!
As evening approached, we decided to have dinner at a local restaurant near our hotel. This was a local eatery that our Taiwanese friend had recommended, and the food was delicious.
This shop is highly recommended.
We had a delicious meal today. We talked and laughed until 11 pm, and then we went to bed. We laughed so much that our jaws hurt.
Day 5: A Change of Plans and a Trip to the Zoo
After a late start to the day, we decided to explore the city via the MRT. We took the blue line to Zhongxiao Fuxing Station and then transferred to the brown line, riding all the way to the Taipei Zoo. Although we hadn't initially planned on visiting the zoo, we figured we might as well since we were already there.
Admission fee: $60
Translation:
If you're too lazy to walk, you can tap your Easy card and take a $5 bus ride. It took us a while to get to the Maokong Gondola. At first, I was indifferent, but as we went up, I started to feel a little scared. The ride was long, but it was worth the $100 one-way fare.
Let's go explore.
The roadside scenery is beautiful.
On the way back, we wanted to take the bus back. We had to try many different ways to make it fun. Most importantly, it was cheap. Taking the bus down the hill, with lots of curves, was fun. 5555
The bus stop is located in front of this store.
Take the train back to MRT Taipei Zoo. If you're unsure, just follow the majority of people who will be getting off there.
It's like a little bear kindergarten, haha.
For dinner tonight, we decided to splurge a little. We remembered the price being around 820 Thai baht. Since we were already there, we had to try the mala hotpot across from the hotel. It was a buffet with a variety of dipping sauces to choose from, as well as food, drinks, and Häagen-Dazs ice cream. We could have as much as we wanted. Just the ice cream alone was worth it.
So full, I could barely crawl back to the hotel.
After dinner, I took a walk around Ximending again to digest my food. I enjoyed watching the people and listening to the music. It's a relaxing atmosphere. At night, it's even more lively than during the day.
Another day has come to an end.
Day 7: Hua Shan 1914 Creative Park
This sentence describes a specific location and date.
- Day 7: This indicates the seventh day of a trip or itinerary.
- Hua Shan: This refers to Mount Hua, a famous mountain in Shaanxi Province, China.
- 1914 Creative Park: This is a specific park located at Mount Hua, possibly named after the year 1914.
Without further context, it is difficult to determine the exact purpose or significance of this sentence. However, it likely refers to a planned visit to the Hua Shan 1914 Creative Park on the seventh day of a trip.
The last day has arrived. After waking up, I packed my belongings, checked out, and left my luggage at the locker. Then, I went to take some cool photos at Hua Shan 1914 Creative Park, a trendy and stylish spot.
We took the MRT and stored our luggage in a locker at Taipei Main Station. There were many lockers available in different locations, but we didn't know where to look. We managed to store two bags, but the last one was too heavy to fit in any of the remaining lockers. We ended up carrying the heavy bag with us on our sightseeing trip. It was a tough and tiring experience. We had to help each other carry the bag down the stairs. We were exhausted!
Locker Usage Instructions
This section provides a step-by-step guide on how to use the lockers.
- Place your belongings inside the locker.
- Press the button to obtain your locker number.
- Insert coins to pay for the locker rental.
- Retrieve the paper slip containing the locker access code.
- Keep the access code safe and secure. It is recommended to take a picture of the code for backup.
Let's explore the lockers!

Getting to Hua Shan 1914 Creative Park is simple. Take the blue line MRT from Taipei Main Station to Zhongxiao Xinsheng, exit at Exit 1, and walk straight until you reach an intersection. Cross the street and turn right.
Note: On your way back, don't get too caught up taking photos, or you might get lost like we did! Getting lost is a learning experience, and it helps you remember. It was fun, though!
Take cool photos at Hua Shan 1914 Creative Park.
When tired, eat this. It's delicious. The dough is like Thai roti sai mai. It comes with ice cream and chopped peanuts. It's supposed to have coriander sprinkled on top, but I told them to hold the coriander. Hehe.
Not yet...not full yet...eat more...favorite cheese.
Beautiful shops
We spent time here until four in the afternoon, then went back to get our luggage at Taipei Main Station. In our hands, we had another cup of bubble tea…

We then headed to Taoyuan Airport by Express train as usual...
We relaxed at the airport before our flight back at 10:30 PM. We arrived safely in Thailand at 1:10 AM.
Ah, almost forgot! This is the bubble tea that's super popular in Thailand, so much so that 7-Eleven in Taiwan even has Thai language on display. We brought back several bottles, and it's delicious.
We'll go back for another round of bubble tea again ^^
Summary
1. We highly favor the accommodation in the Ximending district due to its comprehensive amenities and convenient access.
2. English is our primary language of communication. While younger generations and working professionals are proficient in English, we make an effort to converse in Chinese with older individuals when venturing outside of urban areas. This not only enhances our language skills but also fosters a sense of connection and cultural understanding.
Currency Exchange in Thailand
The cost of living in Thailand is relatively inexpensive compared to many other countries, including the United States. When exchanging currency, it is advisable to avoid airport exchange booths due to their typically unfavorable rates. Instead, consider reputable exchange services such as Super Rich or Value Plus, which offer more competitive rates.
4. Affordable sports shoes at Rama IX. A must-have for sports enthusiasts!
5. Don't miss the bubble tea! But be sure to walk a lot afterwards, as it's high in calories. 😜
6. Don't forget to bring a blank notebook. Each train station or attraction has cute stamps. We stamped everywhere we went.
Here is an example.
The electrical outlets in Taiwan are like this.
