"Land of Fireflies"

The 2nd Field Artillery Regiment, King's Guard, Phra Phrom Yothi Camp, Prachin Buri Province.

The journey from Bangkok to the 2nd Artillery Regiment, King's Guard, Camp Phra Phrom Yothi, Prachinburi province, covers a distance of approximately 100 kilometers. The travel time is just over an hour, making it a relatively short trip. Departing from Bangkok at 1 pm, one can find a place to rest and enjoy a cool drink while waiting for the spectacle of tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands, of fireflies to emerge and flicker, offering a mesmerizing display.

Firefly watching is free of charge. There is ample parking available for visitors. The fireflies can be seen every day, but the park ranger informed me that the peak season is in late May. However, there are still some fireflies to be seen during this time.
The fireflies come out to fly and light up the night sky between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM. After 9:00 PM, the fireflies fly higher and are not as visible.

The images were captured using a long exposure technique, with the camera shutter remaining open for several seconds. A tripod and a shutter release cable were employed to ensure stability and precise control over the exposure. Multiple images were then superimposed to create the final composite. While the resulting images may not be aesthetically perfect, they are intended to evoke a sense of awe and wonder. It is important to note that the actual number of images used in the composites may vary, ranging from three to four. The photographer acknowledges that the images may not be universally appealing, but hopes that they will nonetheless elicit a positive response from viewers.

Please follow the rules and etiquette for viewing fireflies. Everyone should strictly abide by them, as it will disturb the viewing experience of others.
1. No loud noises.
2. No lights. No flash photography or phone lights, as the light can easily enter other people's cameras.
3. No mosquito repellent or perfume.
4. Do not touch the fireflies.
5. The restrooms are far away. Please take care of your business beforehand. Especially men, please do not "shoot rabbits" around here. (We made this up ourselves.)

For those who want to camp nearby, we recommend Wang Bon Reservoir, located about 30 kilometers from the firefly viewing point. It's a short drive away, and you can wake up early to breathe in the fresh air before returning to the hustle and bustle of the city. The staff here are friendly and there are no fees. If you wake up early and want to go kayaking to enjoy the view before leaving, feel free to do so. The kayak rental fee is 50 baht per person.

This attraction is free to visit, but if you'd like to support the soldiers, you can purchase items they are selling, such as glow-in-the-dark firefly keychains. (I bought one myself, intending to give it to someone, but they ended up ghosting me, so I kept it!) Please enjoy the fireflies responsibly and follow the rules.
