While the stunning scenery of Pua district may not be as widely known as other tourist destinations, it is a hidden gem that should not be missed.
A verdant landscape teeming with densely planted rice paddies, where traditional ways of life remain largely untouched by modern technology. This review will take you on a journey to the heart of Sila Phet Community, nestled in the Pua District of Nan Province.

The journey was filled with breathtaking mountain views and sprawling rice fields that gradually grew denser.
At times, the scenery was so captivating that it was easy to forget we were in Thailand.
And then we entered the Sila Phet community to collect our belongings at the accommodation. Tonight, we would like to leave our bodies, minds, and stomachs here at the "Sila Phet Homestay."
Upon our arrival, Uncle Somkiat and Aunt Niyomporn warmly welcomed us with cheerful smiles. We peeked into the kitchen, where Aunt Niyomporn was busy preparing a delicious meal.
While waiting for food, Uncle Somkiat volunteered to be our guide for this trip.
When visiting the Sila Phet community, you can't miss the "Sila Phet Waterfall".
For those who don't like going to waterfalls because they are afraid of hiking, the difficult and tiring trails to reach the waterfall,
I can assure you that this place is very easy to walk, with a capital "E" multiplied by ten.
The scenery is as beautiful as any waterfall, with lush forests and cool, clear water that is tempting to jump into. However, Uncle Somkiat wisely stopped me, as the water is strong during the rainy season. I almost got swept away!
Coming home tired, there's nothing like delicious food to heal everything! And of course, my mother, Niyomporn, caters to our needs without us even asking, with a menu of delicious local dishes.
One dish that stands out is the herb-fried fish. My mother told me it's a family secret recipe, and I've tried to trick her into revealing it several times. But she's not falling for it! I guess I'll just have to keep visiting to enjoy it.

Good morning!
We secretly heard our mother's footsteps coming to wake us up to offer food to the monks, but we didn't wake up.
Even the chickens woke up before us.
The cool, refreshing air of the waterfall accommodation and the soft beds lulled me into a deep sleep, making me lose track of time. I woke up in a hurry, showered, got dressed, and came out to eat the hot pork porridge that my mother had prepared for me. I was ready to continue my exploration for the day.
We noticed that Sila Phet Homestay offers bicycles for rent.
So we took them for a spin to enjoy the views around the village.
It was a comfortable ride, as there wasn't much traffic.
The streets are ours! We can exercise and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
We secretly visited other homestays in the community, and they were all so lovely!
Exhausted from cycling, hunger pangs set in. Today's menu features a raw minced pork salad! Initially, my mother intended to prepare a cooked version, but she revealed her preference for the raw dish. Seizing the opportunity, I decided to give it a try.

We immediately volunteered to help, not sure if it made things more chaotic or not, haha.
Let me tell you, it was soooo delicious!
Initially, I was a little apprehensive.
The second part was completely gone (we didn't have diarrhea, just to be clear).
Those who don't eat sweets after savory food are like commoners. So, we, the elite, rushed to "Pa Pen's Sticky Rice".
Aunt Pen informed us that if we wanted to buy any sticky rice, we would have to place an order in advance. This is because the sticky rice here is made fresh daily, and it sells out quickly.
The sticky rice here is not cloying at all. The flavor is consistent throughout the entire stick, with just the right amount of sweetness and not too much oiliness. It's also very easy to peel, as everyone helps to shave the bamboo stalks until they are thin and easy to peel. This is truly a unique characteristic of Nan sticky rice.
The translation of the sentence is:
Seeing everyone making sticky rice with dedication, I wanted to join in and help. Maybe I could be of some assistance (or not).
And of course, before we left,
we secretly ordered some sticky rice in bamboo to take home as a gift.
The feedback was that everyone said it was really delicious.
The fun is almost over. It's time to go back and pack our things at the accommodation.
We took some photos of Uncle Somkiat and Aunt Niyomporn's lovely home.
Meanwhile, Aunt Niyomporn peeled rambutan and avocado that they grew themselves in the homestay for us to eat.
And
in
the
end
the fun time is over
Thank you for all the warmth and smiles that the community has given each other. See you again :)
