Bookworms, don't miss this!

Get ready to embark on a literary adventure as we explore the 23rd National Book Fair, held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. This year, the event joins forces with the 12th Children's and Youth Book Festival, under the theme "Read Aloud." It's time to raise our voices and read together!

The event began on October 17, 2018, and will conclude tomorrow (October 28, 2018). Bookworms, hurry to the event! The event hours are from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, spanning the entire day.

>> Today's mission: We're going on a postcard hunt. The books from the shop are just a bonus. Hehe.

>> I completed my homework before attending the event. They say that there is a free OTOP Community Tourism Guide Book available. Since it's almost the end of the year, it might be a helpful guide. You can pick it up at the registration point in front of the event.

We took the BTS Skytrain from On Nut Station to Asok Station, then transferred to the MRT subway at Sukhumvit Station (walk down the escalator from Asok BTS Station and you will find Sukhumvit MRT Station). We arrived at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center Station in just one stop. It's very convenient, isn't it?

We are pleased to provide you with a map of the various booths.

Why wait? Let's embark on our journey. As mentioned earlier, our mission today is to find postcards. To achieve this, we must visit every booth, as we have no prior knowledge of which ones sell postcards. In previous events, there was a dedicated booth for postcards, which we were thrilled about (a million exclamation marks). However, in recent times, they have become increasingly rare, possibly due to a decline in interest. Nevertheless, let's begin our exploration.

At the event...

>> The "Lost Books of 3018" exhibition invites us to imagine a future 1,000 years from now where physical books no longer exist.

This exhibition is located in front of the Plenary Hall, where brochures are distributed. There is also a photo corner with past writers, which was very crowded so we were unable to take photos.

We've brought you a souvenir instead.

"Friends can walk in and take pictures at this spot, it's super cool!"

The Exhibition: Will Books Disappear from the World?

The exhibition invites visitors to share their thoughts on the board: "Will books disappear from the world?"

As previously mentioned, this event features two concurrent activities. The 12th Children's and Youth Book Festival includes exhibitions for children and families, such as Wonder Land: A Journey of Self-Discovery and the Youth Exhibition: Exploring the Wonderful World of HOSODA MAMORU…From Dreams to Film.

A World of Wonder: Exploring the HOSODA MAMORU Exhibition

This exhibition, dedicated to the works of renowned animator HOSODA MAMORU, is a must-see for any anime enthusiast. It offers a captivating journey through the director's imaginative worlds, showcasing the artistry and storytelling that have captivated audiences worldwide.

For those familiar with HOSODA's films, the exhibition provides a deeper understanding of his creative process and the themes that permeate his work. The displays evoke a sense of recognition and appreciation, prompting viewers to exclaim, "Ah, so that's how it was done!"

Whether you're a seasoned anime fan or simply curious about the magic of animation, this exhibition promises an immersive and enriching experience. Don't miss this opportunity to delve into the world of HOSODA MAMORU and discover the wonders it holds.

The exhibition features original sketches and storyboards by renowned anime film director Mamoru Hosoda. Additionally, there were postcards available, but unfortunately, when we arrived in the afternoon, only two designs remained.

The postcards we received.

The remaining two sections were not accessible to us. They were located in Meeting Room 1-2.

We continued our walk...in search of postcards. Unfortunately, we missed the "Read Aloud" Limited Edition postcard set. It was a significant collaboration of 17 illustrators. We missed it, and we regret it.

Instead, we went looking for the OTOP Innovative Lifestyle Tourism Guidebook. The Department of Community Development was giving it away for free. (Is that allowed?)

Here's what the book looks like.

And we also got another postcard, to make up for the 17 designs we missed.

This is the atmosphere of the center stage.

After completing the event, we received a decent amount of postcards. However, we are currently experiencing leg pain and fatigue. We would like to visit a massage parlor to alleviate our discomfort. We understand that our legs may appear larger than usual, but we hope you can empathize with our situation.

The postcards we received are pictured below.

This is a set of watercolor postcards. We love it! Booth N07. Let's go get it!

Next set

This set from booth O31 is a must-have for cat lovers.

There are two types of chicken, 20 baht per sheet. We don't remember the booth, but the name of the booth is Chicken 3.

This is a 3D postcard from the PARAGON ASIA booth. The price reflects the quality.

Attention all travel enthusiasts and postcard collectors! We highly recommend purchasing the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) book, priced at only 20 baht. This book includes four postcards, offering exceptional value for money. Trust us, you won't regret it!

Today, we received a small number of postcards. In fact, we received more books than postcards. ^^

We do not recommend this to those who enjoy reading books or running cafes. There are heavily discounted books available.

You can buy it to decorate your shop.

In addition, today we have a special treat: a signed copy from Ae Ngewklom, who we met by chance.

This event also offered free fortune-telling with a beautiful fortune teller named A at booth X02, located opposite the post office booth. Due to the heavy books I was carrying, I was unable to take any photos. However, I encourage you to visit the booth and see for yourself. Trust me, the fortune teller is beautiful. With the completion of my postcard quest, my trip has come to an end.

Tomorrow is the last day! Hurry up and go, friends. If you miss it, you won't be able to talk to anyone else. Don't know what to do. ^___^

And more...

We love this booth! Come play games with us! We love our books very much.
