Nan, Thailand: A 4-Day Adventure (October 19-22, 2018)

Day 1:

  • Travel from Mo Chit Bus Terminal in Bangkok to Nan Province viaสมบัติทัวร์ bus.

Day 2:

  • Arrive at Nan Bus Terminal early in the morning.
  • Rent a motorbike from Tono's shop near the bus terminal.
  • Drive to Pua district via routes 1169 and 1081.
  • Visit Tai Lue Coffee, Wat Phukiet, Doi Phuka, Bo Kluea Salt Mine, and Ban Sapahn.
  • Stay overnight at Baan Saimok Bork Hak Sapahn in Ban Sapahn village.
  • Explore Sapahn Waterfall, the suspension bridge, and the stunning views of Luang Prabang mountain range in Laos.
  • Visit the small weekend market near the village bridge.
  • Enjoy affordable meals and local shops.

Day 3:

  • Return to Nan city.

The scenery along Route 1169 is beautiful.


The first stop is Tai Lue coffee.

The location offers numerous photo opportunities. It is recommended to arrive early to avoid crowds, as the number of visitors increases later in the morning.

Our first night's accommodation is at the "Saimok Bork Hak" resort in Ban Saphan.


This is the view from our room. The accommodation has shared bathrooms but they are clean. Breakfast is free. There are no fans, so it can be a bit hot during the day, but the evenings are very pleasant.

Every Friday and Saturday evening, there is a flea market at the village bridge. Children bring their goods to sell, which is adorable.


Waking up to this makes me never want to leave.


The view is amazing. I'm so jealous of the people who live in the village of Saban.

Day 21

Returning to Nan city via the Bo Kluea - Santisuk 1081 route.

  • Stopped at 29 Base, but it was closed. 😭
  • Visited Khun Wiang Ping.
  • Checked in at Sasidara Resort.
  • Visited Phumin Temple.
  • Stopped at the Plumeria Arch.
  • Visited Chang Kham Temple.
  • Explored the Kad Khwang Muang Nan Walking Street.

Our second stop was at the charming Shasidara Resort, a Lanna-style accommodation with a peaceful atmosphere. It features a swimming pool and bicycles for guests to enjoy.

Our first temple visit is to Wat Phumin.

Ming Muang Temple is magnificent and elegant.


The last stop for today is Kad Khwang Muang Nan Walking Street, which is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and possibly on public holidays. There is a wide variety of food available, as well as local clothing for sale. There are also places to sit and eat.


End the night by returning to your accommodation to rest up for tomorrow's adventures.


Day 22

Wat Phra That Chae Haeng > Wat Hua Wiang Tai > Wat Hua Khwang > Wat Si Phan Ton > Phra That Khao Noi > Take a bus at the bus station.


The last day to visit Nan, starting at the beautiful Wat Phra That Chae Haeng.


We continued to Wat Phra Koet and Hoong Chao Fong Kham, but they were closed. So we drove on and came across Wat Hua Wiang Tai, a beautiful Lanna-style temple.

Wat Si Phan Ton, a stunning temple adorned entirely in gold.


The last temple we visited was Wat Phra That Khao Noi, and then we waited for the bus back to Bangkok.


To pass the time, I went for a walk at Night Bazaar, where there were clothes, silverware, and a small amount of food.


Return the car and wait for the bus back to Bangkok at 19.45.
