Lead the way

Apart from the Vegetarian Festival, there are few events that bring the people of Phuket together to sing, dance, and smile with such joy. It's as if the streets have transformed into a Broadway stage, with models strutting their stuff like a Disney cartoon carnival.

Many young people participated in the parade, showcasing their musical talents and adding vibrancy to the event. Adults, dressed in traditional Thai attire, performed graceful dances. This event brought joy to many passersby.

Thai dolls

When it comes to the most famous Thai puppets, everyone must give credit to Thotsakan, Hanuman, and Nang Sida from the Ramakien. The charm of these puppets lies in their ability to bring out the characters' personalities through the puppeteers' manipulation, allowing the audience to feel as if they are the characters themselves.

Like Hanuman, who is mischievous and resourceful in taking care of Sita, these performances would be expensive if we paid to see them. However, in this event, we can watch them for free. This is a great carnival that deserves to be held every year, isn't it?

In addition to the puppets from the Ramayana, there were also puppets from the story of King Naresuan. It was raining heavily during the procession, but the puppets were still carried and performed with great dignity, befitting King Naresuan.

Foreign Robots (Asian)

** **

Asia has many lovely puppets from various ethnicities. For example, Indian puppets, which have a long history of over 1,000 years, are presented in the form of traditional shadow puppets. The puppets' dance also incredibly mimics Bollywood, making it a delightful experience.

The Chinese and Taiwanese zones were equally impressive, with mannequins dressed in elaborate costumes that clearly reflected their origins. The mannequins were adorned in full regalia, resembling deities brought to life. Notably, in Taiwan, a morning workshop offered the public the opportunity to learn how to make wooden puppets.

In addition to the aforementioned countries, several other Asian nations boast attractive figures, including Bangladesh, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, and Japan. Japanese figures typically wear kimonos, while their facial features are reminiscent of real Japanese people.

Foreign Robots (Western)

The western side features a diverse range of nationalities, including **Portuguese, Ukrainian, Russian, Brazilian, Bulgarian, Argentinian, Dutch, and French**. The highlight is a puppet show from **Russia**, showcasing unique puppet designs and a circus-like performance that tells a captivating story through accompanying music.

This event fosters friendships and brings smiles to people worldwide who participate in the parade. It is an event that should be held annually to allow future generations to learn about and be inspired by the creative ideas behind these puppets.
