Chiang Mai: New Memories
We often hear the saying, "Traveling can heal sadness." We never truly understood its meaning until one day, I was diagnosed with depression. Everything around me seemed bleak, and I couldn't find solutions to my problems. My only solace was my partner.
Together, we decided to embark on a journey to prove whether traveling, in addition to medication, could truly alleviate depression.
Hello, this is our first review, and this is how we felt during our journey. ^^
Early morning - We arrived at Mon Cham. The first car drove into the restaurant at 4:00 AM, and it was pitch dark. 555
We asked the restaurant staff for directions, and they suggested that we go up to Mon Long, which is located on top of the mountain, to enjoy the view of Chiang Mai city. We had to drive another 3 km uphill. We continued our journey into the pitch darkness, with no light except for the headlights of our car. As we drove uphill, the road became increasingly rough and frightening. Everyone in the car started swaying to the rhythm of the car as it hit potholes.
We finally arrived at Mon Long at around 5:00 AM. Stepping out of the car, we were immediately met with a shiver-inducing cold, even more so than inside the car. Walking up the hill, we were greeted by a breathtaking view of Chiang Mai city. We all had our cameras ready, waiting to capture the sunrise amidst the constant, chilly breeze that sent shivers down our spines.
It was noon, and we packed up and continued our journey, heading towards Doi Inthanon. We arrived at the campsite around 3 pm and set up our tents, prepared food, and organized our belongings for the night.
On the chilly morning of the 2nd, with the tent covered in dew and the cold air outside, we finished washing our faces and brushing our teeth, and then packed our things to continue our journey...
Let's have lunch at Chom Cafe later, a charming restaurant surrounded by small trees, moss, and ferns.
The afternoon has arrived. We booked a room at a certain orange hotel near Charoen Muang. The price and accommodation are considered very worthwhile. We decided to stay for another 2 nights. At night, we came to Tha Pae Gate, thinking that we would have a late-night meal around here (but the prices were a bit too expensive for us, haha). In the end, we ended up eating fast food (haha). We thought the price would be the most reasonable in that area.
On the third day, after finishing our trip from the previous night, we woke up with a plan to rent a motorbike and explore the area. Our first stop was near Tha Pae Gate, where the rental fee was 200 baht and the deposit was 3,000 baht. We decided to change the rental location to the train station, where the rental fee was 200 baht and the deposit was only our ID card. We then set off for the Grand Canyon, using GPS as our guide.
After our trip, we returned to our accommodation with the rain hot on our heels. We wanted to go for a walk on the walking street in the cool of the evening, but the GPS took us somewhere we didn't recognize. Maybe the market wasn't open, or maybe it was something else. We ended up at the Bua Loi Market, which was similar to a walking street and had a wide variety of local goods and souvenirs for sale.
Day 4 Packed and checked out.
Following the GPS, we continued our journey to the Kruba Srivichai Monument. Many of you might be wondering why we didn't ascend Doi Suthep after reaching the monument. The answer is simple: it was raining. The rain started pouring down just as we were about to pay our respects, and the roads became slippery. For safety reasons, we decided to postpone our climb. Instead, we stopped for lunch nearby and were fortunate enough to find a waterfall to visit.
Huai Kaew Waterfall is a beautiful and secluded spot, with few visitors and a cool atmosphere thanks to recent rainfall.
The fun is over. 555 It's time to go back to Bangkok. See you again soon.
