Khao Yai... another place that if you think of cool weather, morning mist, or camping, you should experience it at least once in your life. This Khao Yai trip, TK came for 2 days and 1 night.
- Krua Chan Pha
An army marches on its stomach. Before embarking on our journey to Khao Yai National Park, we decided to refuel. The restaurant's signature dish, the "Mae La Pla Chon," is a grilled snakehead fish served with three dipping sauces. The combination of flavors is surprisingly delicious, regardless of which sauce you choose.
TK highly recommends two additional dishes: Tamarind Glazed Chicken and Tender Pork. These dishes are easy to enjoy and are sure to please people of all ages.
- Khao Yai National Park
TK finally arrived at Khao Yai National Park. First, they stopped to take photos at a popular spot. During their visit, a monkey approached them fearlessly. However, it's important to remember that feeding wild animals is strictly prohibited. Doing so can make them dependent on humans and unable to find food on their own. The weather was cloudy, and it seemed like rain was imminent. Before their trip, they checked the weather forecast, which predicted rain. However, they were informed that the rain would stop by 5 pm.
- Khao Yai Food Center
We stopped by to buy food for dinner, but some people might choose to bring their own ingredients to cook at the campsite. However, TK opted for the "Khao Yai Food Center," which offers a wide variety of savory and sweet dishes. I must say, the papaya salad with fermented fish paste was incredibly delicious. It was also here that we had our first encounter with the deer for the day. They were truly adorable.
- Lam Ta Khong Camping Ground
Upon arrival, the rain intensified, necessitating a wait until it subsided before setting up the tents. Three tents were erected in total, taking over an hour. After pitching the tents, dinner was consumed, which had been purchased beforehand. Plastic plates, bowls, spoons, and forks could be used, as there was a designated area for washing dishes. However, remember to bring dish soap and a sponge. If you use disposable containers, please dispose of them in the designated areas provided by the park.
After dinner, we went our separate ways to shower. There were two bathrooms available, and while the floors might have been a bit muddy due to the rain, overall the bathrooms were clean and functional.
Gazing at the stars and enjoying the cool night air can make you drowsy. However, before you drift off to sleep, remember to secure your valuables and food inside your tent. Otherwise, they might become a midnight snack for the curious deer that roam the area.
Waking up early to witness the morning mist, the air is pleasantly cool, with temperatures around 21-24 degrees Celsius. TK has prepared hot water, so breakfast consists of coffee, bread, porridge, and instant noodles, a light meal to fuel further exploration while also helping to ward off the chill.
After finishing their meal, the group dispersed to bathe and gradually pack up their equipment, including their tents. As they prepared to depart, the sun began to rise, the temperature increased, and it was evident that the water level had risen significantly due to the previous day's rainfall.
- Khao Khiao
This location boasts stunning panoramic views, inviting visitors to experience its beauty. Additionally, it features a restaurant serving "Khao Khai Kiao" (green egg rice) and hot beverages, operated by the friendly air force personnel.
- Solitary cliff
The nature trail, designated as a World Heritage Site, is 446 meters long, which is not far considering the stunning views it offers. The park has constructed a wooden walkway that is easy to navigate both uphill and downhill. At key points, visitors are advised not to cross the yellow line for safety reasons.
- Sai Sor Reservoir
Surrounded by lush greenery, the reservoir offers a picturesque backdrop for capturing memorable photographs.
- Lao
Shortly after exiting Khao Yai National Park, TK stopped for lunch before heading back. The restaurant's signature dish is grilled chicken, and it also offers an all-you-can-eat fresh vegetable buffet.
The review of the Khao Yai trip has come to an end. Camping in the rain, waiting to see the morning mist, I hope this will be another travel idea for all readers. If there are any mistakes, I apologize here.
