One weekend, my girlfriend and I decided to take a short trip out of Bangkok. Sa Kaeo was one of the unseen provinces on my list so we thought, why not?
We embarked on a road trip to two beautiful provinces: Prachinburi and Sa Kaeo. Each destination offered its own charm, that combined peaceful nature with unique local highlights.
In Prachinburi, I discovered ร้านบ้านพี่หนิง, a serene little cafe, almost like a hidden escape.
Nestled by a pond and surrounded by lush greenery, it was the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the tranquility of the countryside. The stilted wooden house overlooking the water had a magical charm that felt like a step back in time. The auntie here was super nice and made delicious snacks for us while we sipped on local beer.
As I flew the drone here, I discovered a beautiful river unwinding around us like a snake. It was amazing. There should really be a restaurant or cafe next to the river.
Crossing over to Sa Kaeo, we visited Wat Khao Singto in Ban Kaeng. It was a challenging hike of 300+ steps there but we were rewarded with amazing views.
The standout feature? A stunning viewpoint perched atop rocky terrain, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding fields and forests. The walk to the viewpoint was exhilarating, and the vistas at the top made every step worth it.
This journey was a perfect mix of calm moments by the water and awe-inspiring landscapes. If you’re looking to escape the city and explore hidden treasures, these eastern provinces are a must-visit and only a few hours away from Bangkok.
Have you been to either of these places? I’d love to hear your experiences!
