Cozy Stay at Villa Lapin Nakhon Si Thammarat

If you are planning a trip to Nakhon Si Thammarat to pay respects at the sacred Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan, I have found the perfect place for you to stay. During my recent travels to the historic heart of Nakhon Si Thammarat, I stumbled upon a newly opened hidden gem called Villa Lapin. It is a charming boutique hotel that completely stole my heart, and I just have to share my experience with you.

The first thing that blew me away about Villa Lapin was its unbeatable location. It sits just about 200 meters from Wat Phra Mahathat, so you can walk to the temple grounds in less than three minutes. For someone who loves beating the crowds for early-morning merits or simply enjoying a peaceful evening stroll around the ancient temple walls, staying here felt like a massive luxury—especially since you don't have to worry about finding parking around the temple, which is usually a nightmare.

From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I knew I was in for a treat. The entire place welcomed me with a beautiful, relaxing aroma that instantly melted away my travel fatigue. It is a subtle touch, but it shows how much the owners care about making their guests feel comfortable from the very first second. That warmth was mirrored by the staff, who were incredibly kind and sweet. They greeted me with that genuine, famous southern Thai hospitality, quickly checking me in while offering great local recommendations for the best food spots in town.

When I entered my room on the third floor, that same delightful fragrance greeted me. The room itself felt fresh, modern, and deceptively spacious. The highlight for me was the bed—it was incredibly soft and plush, the kind of "bed vacuum" that traps you in comfort and makes it almost impossible to wake up in the morning. 

Everything was spotlessly clean, and the bathroom was surprisingly spacious, with a great layout that clearly separated the dry and wet zones. 

Plus, having a proper in-room refrigerator stocked with complimentary drinking water was exactly what I needed after a long day of exploring in the tropical heat.

But let me tell you about the real showstopper: the view. If you book a room on the second or third floor, you are treated to what I can only describe as a million-dollar view. When I drew back the curtains, the majestic golden spire of the Phra Borommathat Chedi rose above the local rooftops, standing tall against the blue sky. 

It felt so close, so clear, and so profoundly spiritual. Waking up to that view as the morning sun hits the golden spire is an experience that lingers long after you leave.

There is also a wonderful rooftop area where you can take in a 360-degree panoramic view of the entire city and the distant mountain ranges. I had high hopes of sitting up there with a cool breeze, watching a spectacular sunset. 

Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans, and a classic southern rain shower rolled in right on cue. Even though I missed the sunset, watching the mist gently wrap around the temple spire after the rain was a uniquely peaceful and romantic vibe of its own.

To make things even sweeter for road-trippers, the hotel offers a spacious, secure parking lot with plenty of spaces, so you never have to stress about your car.

The most unbelievable part of this entire experience? It costs less than a thousand Baht per night. For a brand-new, clean hotel with this level of comfort, exceptional hospitality, and a front-row view of Nakhon Si Thammarat's most iconic landmark, it feels like an absolute steal. 

If you are looking for a place that feels like a cozy home away from home while keeping you right in the center of the action, Villa Lapin is a place you simply cannot miss.
