Hello everyone on Readme.me

Welcome back to ABout... When it comes to famous tourist cities in Italy, besides Rome, Milan and Venice, the city that everyone talks about the most is definitely Florence. Today, ABout... will take you to visit Florence to conquer the bell tower at the Santa Maria del Fiore church, which is said to have one of the most beautiful views in Florence. If everyone is ready, let's go!

We traveled from Rome by high-speed train, taking about 1.5 hours to reach Florence. As we walked out of the Firenze Santa Maria Novella train station, we could see the dome of the Santa Maria del Fiore church standing tall in the distance.

The Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore is located in the Piazza del Duomo in the heart of Florence.

The white, green, and pink colors seen on the front of the church are not painted, but are all natural marble colors.

Luckily, the church was open today and there was no queue, so I had the opportunity to quickly visit the interior.

We are going to conquer the top of the bell tower. We will buy tickets on the ground floor of the bell tower, which is on the left side of the picture above.

Note: This location does not accept credit cards for ticket purchases.

The ticket will be a combined ticket for 15 euros, which can be used to enter all 5 places within 48 hours. The five places are:

1. Baptistery

2. The dome of the Cupola church

3. Campanile Bell Tower

4. The old church beneath the new church, Santa Reparata

5. Church Museum Museo

This ticket also comes with a Wi-Fi code. Wi-Fi can be used in the church area. It's a great deal with this ticket. Are you ready to conquer the bell tower? If you are ready, let's go!

To reach the summit, we must climb a total of 414 steps. There are several resting and viewing platforms along the way. The path is quite narrow, with some sections only wide enough for one person at a time due to the single-file ascent and descent. Be aware that some sections are also quite steep.

View of the baptistery.

An old, unused bell has been placed on the bell tower for tourists to see up close.

A view of the Santa Maria del Fiore church as seen through a hole in the stairs. Even just this is very beautiful.

A view of downtown Florence.

The picture shows a square-shaped courtyard, which is Piazza Republica, where tourists like to take pictures with the horses.

Some floors in the central part of the bell tower are open, allowing you to look down below.

And then we finally reached the top of the bell tower. It's so beautiful! No wonder everyone says the view from the top of the bell tower is much better than the view from the top of the dome.

We then walked back down. Since our tickets included entry to the interior of the Baptistery, we stopped by for a visit. Last time, almost the entire Baptistery was closed for repairs, but this time, luckily, the repairs were completed.

This is another highlight of Florence. It is called the "Gates of Paradise" and is one of the doors of the Baptistery.

I felt a sense of holiness when I walked into the baptistery.

This time, I only had one day to visit, so I didn't go to the other parts that were included in the ticket. Instead, we went to other parts of the city. We walked around until the evening before taking the train back to Rome. Finally, let me add a picture of the church in the evening. The church of Santa Maria del Fiore is beautiful no matter which angle or alley you look at it from.

About Travel Tips:

Most people may not know what the white circle next to this church is, but if you know its history, you will be more impressed. This white circle is located on the opposite side of the church where there is no baptistery. This white circle is the point where the golden knob on top of the dome fell after being struck by lightning in the past.
