Waking up refreshed after a good night's sleep on the train, we started our day by visiting the Ipoh Information Center to plan our sightseeing route.
The tourist information center is located opposite this picture. It is a picture of the Old Town White Coffee shop, not far from the train station. According to the reviews I have studied, there are 3 Chinese temples located close together, not far from the city. The staff said that it is not difficult to get there. Take bus number 62 from the bus station. After getting the information, I stopped by the Old Town White Coffee shop to grab some lunch.
I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture of the rice. I only got snacks, which were like Thai curry puffs. I walked to the bus station, which is near the train station (facing the train station, walk straight to the left until you reach a three-way intersection. The bus station will be right on the corner). I looked for bus number 62 and asked the driver if it passed "Sam Po Kong". The driver nodded. The fare was 1.2 ringgit. The bus left soon after, and after about 15 minutes, the driver shouted "Sam Po Kong". I got off the bus and saw the first temple right away.
The first temple, brightly colored, also has monks and plaster statues inside.
After a short walk, we continued to the second temple, which was right next door.
This temple is special because it is located inside a cave. There is also a path leading up to a viewpoint where you can enjoy the scenery.
The view on the way up is still going up, but when you get up there, it's like it's under construction. Plus, it's very dark. The view here is the best.
Continuing on to the 3rd temple, Wat Sam Po Kong, which is also built inside a cave. However, you can only climb up to 3 floors. The next section is locked with a key. On the lower floor, if you walk to the back, there is a turtle pond.
Personally, I like the 3rd temple the most. The atmosphere is good, shady, the buildings are beautiful. I took pictures until it was time to go back. I crossed the road to wait for the bus, the same route. Before I even reached the bus stop, bus number 62, the same driver, stopped and waved for me to get on. 5555 I felt like I had rented a private car to go sightseeing. When I arrived in the city, it was two o'clock in the afternoon. It was time to book a train ticket to Kuala Lumpur. I got a train at 6 pm. I still had 3 hours to play, so I decided to go find the famous street art of Ipoh, the jumping rope children.
Ask the train staff for directions.
A: Excuse me, I'd like to go to this place (pointing on the map). Do you know which bus routes go there?
B: After a moment of silence, he said it would take about 15 minutes to walk to
A: Still trying to continue. No buses, huh?
A: What's up?
Summary: Walking in the sun at around 2 pm, it was very hot. Walking along, I came across beautiful views along the way.
After walking for a while, I finally found the picture I was looking for.
It's super hard to take a picture with this kit lens. I had to stand against the opposite wall and still couldn't capture everything. I guess I'll have to get a wide-angle lens, lol.
Walking around the area, there were art installations to take pictures of, but due to limited time, I couldn't capture all of them. When I have more time, I'll come back and collect all the pictures.
The highlight of the day was when I read a review that said there was a branch of Old Town White Coffee in Ipoh. I was curious to see it for myself, so I opened the city map and checked the location. According to Google Maps, it was 2 kilometers away. I decided to walk, but the further I walked, the more I felt like I was leaving the community. I started to see hotels and shopping malls, and I wondered if I was on the right track. Finally, I arrived at the location, and it was indeed an Old Town White Coffee, but it wasn't the first branch. I had walked a long way for nothing. The only consolation was the clock tower and a park.
Feeling tired, I wanted to take the bus back, so I started a new conversation to ask for directions.
A: Excuse me, I'm going to the train station. Do you know which bus routes go there?
B: After a moment of silence, he asked why she didn't call a taxi.
A: (Thinking to himself) What the hell kind of city is this? There aren't even any buses running in the city.
I walked back the same way, but my heart still wanted to see the first branch, so I tried to find it and finally found it. The name of the shop is Kedai Makanan Nam Heong. I tried to pin it. It was the place I walked past, not far from where I took a picture of the children jumping rope (I'm so stupid, why did I walk there and back? A total of 4 kilometers) At least every journey has its meaning. I comforted myself with a beautiful clock tower and green grass. If you come to Ipoh, you can come and see it. It's really beautiful.
I walked until I reached the hotel. After I finished packing, I was about to leave for the train station when it started to rain heavily. What should I do? I sat down and searched for information. I still wanted to see the first branch. I started planning how to get to the first Old Town White Coffee branch and make it to the 6:00 PM train. When the rain started to subside, I hurried out into the rain, which was still falling but not as heavily.
Finally, we found the first branch of Old Town White Coffee, but it was closed. So we could only take a picture as a souvenir of our visit to the original branch.
After walking for a while, I was about to reach the train station when I met the Thai guy I had met on the train. We talked about places to visit and he told me that the ruined castle was a must-see. He said he would come back to visit it next time.
Bye IPOH, I love this city. It's a charming city with beautiful buildings and people who enjoy life like Thailand over 10 years ago. People are not in a hurry, technology has not taken over, and people still come out to sit and play in the city center. Children run and play, which is a rare sight. But why are there no buses running in the city? You have to bring your own feet to this city. You'll get tired of walking.
Dear Kuala Lumpur
In a few hours, we will be in the capital of Malaysia. According to the plan, we will go to see the lights at the twin towers.
The train had a speedometer and a jerky movie to watch, but I was more interested in the sunset view. As it got closer, we went to sit in the dining car, sipping Milo and watching the sunset together.
The view is breathtaking! I wonder how long it will be before Thailand has a train like this. We sat and enjoyed the view until the sun set. Finally, we arrived in Kuala Lumpur. We will get off at Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station, which seems to be a hub for all train lines in Kuala Lumpur. It's huge! The area is divided for different train operators, with 4 types and 8 routes. We need to study carefully which train to take depending on our destination. The price depends on the type and distance of the journey.
The train arrived a little late, but it wasn't a problem. It was only about 10 minutes late. In Thailand, however, a delay like this would be considered a major inconvenience.
Arriving at the second highlight of the day, we had booked our accommodation since last night for fear of it being full. It was a Saturday night too. But there was a surprise. From the station to the accommodation we had booked, it was 1.5 kilometers away, so we walked all the way until we reached the accommodation. We thought we would be able to sleep comfortably and then go out to capture the night lights at the Twin Towers. It turned out that the staff said that the credit card we had provided had a problem and could not be verified. The hotel could not book a room for us. And most importantly, the rooms were full. So we were confused why the booking website did not tell us that there was a problem with the credit card. So we gave up and went out to find accommodation at almost 9 pm. We walked and asked along the way, but everything was full. Until we found one place, almost 2 kilometers away, that still had vacancies. So we walked there. The accommodation was in an Indian neighborhood. The conditions along the way were super dark. In my heart, I thought, "Are we going to get robbed?" Until we arrived at the hotel, checked in, and it was almost 11 pm. Today was a day that had all the flavors. This unpreparedness is the charm of traveling.
Good night..........wonderful day
Note: I will write a 3-part series on this trip, but it might have to be 4 parts because I have so many photos.
