Hello everyone, today I have a story to tell you about my latest trip, which was still hot off the press.
I just got back from Khao Kho on November 29-30, 2015. This trip was the result of going to a wedding of a colleague in Mukdahan Province.
I left Cha-ai District in the late morning around 11 am. The route I took today will pass through Khon Kaen Province into Chum Phae District, Khao Kho.
It took about 6 hours to get to Khao Kho, arriving around 5 pm. I met up with another car at the PTT gas station in Khao Kho.
Our accommodation was at a newly opened resort called Sunset Resort Khao Koh. We stopped by to pay respects at Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew, had cake at Pino Latte, took photos at Route 12,
and ended the day with fried chicken from Wang Thong.

The road leading to Khao Kho from Chum Phae district is quite steep, but not as steep as Ang Khang. Cars can easily go up. As for the way back from Khao Kho to Bangkok, the road is very good. It has just been completed and goes almost all the way to Wang Thong district. The new road is wide and easy to drive on, and the scenery on the side is also beautiful. If anyone comes up here in the morning, it must be amazing.

Our meeting point is the PTT gas station. The station is quite large and there is plenty of space to park.

After meeting up, we went to buy pork, beef, and fresh vegetables to prepare for a barbecue. We arrived at the accommodation very late at night.
So I missed taking pictures of the resort and the room.

I only got a few photos because it was very late, so we hurried to have a barbecue. On the way here, we passed by many BN farms, hotels, and resorts. There is a market along the way that I recommend you stop by. You can buy potatoes, fragrant mushrooms, original mushrooms, plums, strawberries, and other fruits. They are very crispy and sweet. The most impressive thing was the roasted potatoes, which were only 20 baht per kilogram. They were both cheap and delicious.

The resort provides a barbecue grill for guests to use, but you will need to bring your own plates, bowls, and cutlery.
This meal was very affordable and yielded a large amount of food. The ingredients included: 1 kg of pork for 120 baht, 0.5 kg of beef for 140 baht, tomatoes and peppers for 20 baht, potatoes for 40 baht, a pumpkin for 20 baht, shiitake and oyster mushrooms for 100 baht, and strawberries and persimmons for 100 baht (3 bags).
There were 7 people eating, and there was enough food to last until the next morning.

Sitting and eating, grilling together, the cool air is so refreshing. We talked until 4 am, it felt like 2 am, it was very quiet. The atmosphere is really suitable for coming to relax. The air is fresh and cool.

I can't sleep. I usually sleep very late, so I went out to take pictures at night. I didn't bring a tripod again.
The picture shows two air-conditioned rooms.

This area is the lobby for check-in and contacting staff.

There are 3 fan rooms and 3 tents.

The sky isn't very clear tonight, not many stars. Good night with this picture. Tomorrow I will wake up to watch the sea of fog.

The first picture of the day. Let's take a panorama and the first sea of fog of the year. Time is around 6 am.

Translated from Thai: This was taken from my bed. It's amazing! I can see the sea of fog right from my bed.

The weather this morning was quite cool, so I put on a long-sleeved shirt. It wasn't too cold, just comfortably cool.

The sun is about to rise over the mountain ridge. The golden light makes me feel warm, peaceful, and very happy.

The more I look at it, the more beautiful it is. Don't blame me if the pictures look repetitive, but for me, no matter how many times I look at them, I feel happy.

Another thin sheet of fog and there are many more sheets.

This place really impressed me. Although the service may not be as good as the big hotels, the service here is truly heartfelt. They even prepared a barbecue stove and gave us free ice, as we forgot to buy some. And the atmosphere is beyond the price!

The thin sea of fog gradually disappeared in the late morning.

The side is an empty space. Anyone interested can go buy a house to build a vacation home. The atmosphere is very enviable.

This is a landmark resort sign.

The atmosphere around the resort is great. There are rooms downstairs, fan rooms and tents.

Breakfast on the balcony. I didn't even have time to eat, but I'm already full.

How do you like this dining table? Eating and enjoying the atmosphere is great. You can sit in a group.

Or sit as a couple, it's quite romantic.

But in the end, I couldn't stand the sunlight. It started to get hot, so we moved to eat in front of the room instead.

After eating, take a souvenir photo to show that you have been here.

This is my farewell to this place. If I have the chance, I will come back many more times.

On the way out of the accommodation, passing the viewpoint. Stop by, why not?

Khao Kho in the winter

Fa Fa Road

It takes about 20 minutes from the viewpoint to reach the destination. Let's pay respect to Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew. If you come to Khao Kho and don't come here, it's considered that you haven't arrived. Because this place is considered an important landmark for both Khao Kho and Phetchabun Province.

I've been here twice and I love it. It's very clean and organized. It's peaceful and there are no announcements over the loudspeaker like other temples. They use signs to communicate with visitors, encouraging them to be mindful and peaceful. And there are no lottery tickets for sale, which I really appreciate.

I didn't go into this spot, but just standing here and looking at it made me so happy. The cool breeze refreshed both my body and mind.

I was at the temple for about an hour and a half. Then I went to Pino Latte upstairs.

On the way back, I saw a white goose swimming nearby. The goose looked peaceful, just like the atmosphere of the temple.

From Wat Phra That Pha Son Kaew, it's not far to Pino Latte, about 500 meters. The road is quite narrow and steep.

The only good thing about this place is that it's a great place to take pictures. The atmosphere is very beautiful.

Let me tell you, the taste is not worth the price. There's nothing to recommend. If you're looking for something edible and worth the price, then the 85 baht almond croissant and the 165 baht black and white chocolate cake and matcha cake are your best bets. However, the coffee and Italian soda are very ordinary in terms of taste, but the price is what sets them apart.

Translation:

I barely touched it. I only had one bite of each dish. The girls finished everything else. But for me, it was probably just a case of having a crocodile tongue. This place didn't pass the taste test.
What did pass was the atmosphere. It was amazing. You could see the Pha Sorn Kaew temple and the mountains.

After leaving Pino Latte, I headed back to Bangkok. On the way, I stopped to take some photos.

This place has deteriorated a lot. The last time I came here, it was more beautiful and the atmosphere was better. I guess it's because it's been open for a long time.

There's not much to see here. It takes about 5 minutes to walk around, and if you take photos, it will take about 30 minutes.

Leaving Route 12, I stopped for lunch at Kai Thang Wang Thong. The food here is delicious and the prices are very cheap. It's great value for money. If you have the chance, you should stop by and try it. I bought a box to take to the resort, which must be amazing. There aren't many good restaurants in Khao Kho. The restaurants recommended in the guidebooks are very average and the prices are high.

Trip summary

The most impressive thing was probably the barbecue we had at The Sunset. The atmosphere was great, and the staff was really friendly, preparing the grill and everything.

They also provided ice for us to drink. The sea of fog was amazing, even though it wasn't very thick on the day I went. But it still made me happy.

The Phra That Pha Son Kaew Temple is another place that I never get tired of visiting. It gives me a sense of peace and beauty that never changes.

The atmosphere at Peet's Latte is truly amazing. You can see far into the distance and the wind is cool and refreshing. However, I would not recommend the desserts or the prices.

The price is very high. Route 12 has deteriorated over the years. The atmosphere is good if you come in the evening. The Golden Fried Chicken shop in Wang Thong.

The taste is delicious and worth the price and quantity. It's another place that impressed me.
